With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

    Votes: 56 7.3%
  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 87 11.4%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 170 22.2%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 405 52.9%
  • 5 Stars — Peak Fishtank / Masterpiece. Non-stop insanity, legendary fish and production, pure chaos

    Votes: 47 6.1%

There really should be a rule to not talk about previous seasons. It's not just cringe, it breaks the illusion - if they're constantly going on about the prior seasons, then I can't make myself believe that they are earnestly counting rice believing that production knows the actual amount in each bag. I don't want to constantly be reminded that they're in on the joke.
It would be good. As an outsider it appears like production is very gun-shy about coaching the cast. Throwing people into the deep end to see if they swim is not a bad approach, but Jet also got insecure about Jin talking shit about his r9k history. That's where you should talk instead of kicking someone for imaginary transgressions.

They always seem to have an issue in every season that the cast is not 'content' enough as well. Partly that is a bit, partly it is a real scolding. Coaching the cast and having them perform to some degree may help with that as well. Beginning of S2 proves to me that contestants faking is viable. The abstraction within their mind that they are performing could also be helpful with bringing people out of their shells when its not all about the real them being exposed and scrutinized. Less burnouts possibly.

Tai probably was the best freeloader and returning guest on Fishtank like ever.
The day he was having the drunken meltdown in B4 thinking he got canceled was the funniest fucking live experience I had during S1. Plus he's just funny, was greatly needed in S2 and delivered. He also bounced so well off of Sam during Blood Games, some highlight moments involve him.

I loved how Tai was genuinely worried for his future after getting fake canceled in S1, but completely embraced the setting and was making holocaust jokes during bloodgames. Also loved how little of a fuck he gave about the main story and was just having fun along for the ride.

Sheeeeeeit!

The voting mechanic was a horrible decision that made the fish purposefully avoid conflict as to not get voted out. Fishtank is good because of its lack of structure.
The voting mechanic drove alot of conflict. If you watched early season 3 there was a ton of backroom scheming in order to vote out their competition. Voting as a mechanic is inherently conflict driven, because you do not need to just protect your own reputation but smear others. Combine that with the competitions like candy collection and you can even get contestants to steal from each other unpromoted. Fish Tank's Strength has always been it's uncensored nature and boundary pushing lengths, not being unstructured. Unstructured content just leads to the competition being almost pointless leaving contestenants weak and unintresting since there is no real way to "win."

Unstructured leads to them sitting around all day, not making content or being interesting.

True, but on the other hand voting leads to dogpiling on a contestant and de-incentivizes acting out and being a heel. Fuck with the others and create funny content, well now they will hate your ass and want to vote you off. There are pros and cons with every method unfortunately. Binx getting everyone to immediately vote off Simbal was kino though.

Elimination voting only works on game shows that are team based and they are trying to get rid of the weakest link that makes a team lose challenges/rewards. It's a bad idea for fishtank and Sam was right to call it a stupid idea right to Jet's faggot face on the RV trip.

I think the big issue is letting THEM vote.

The Fish should not get to decide anything. In theory the stox were a good idea because it controlled who was up for elimination.

The bad thing about that is that it would mean that paypigs got to influence eliminations. Voting by the audience has always been decided by paypigs since it's all token based and not 1 vote per person.

There being vote offs were fine in S3, the issue was they should of been part of the gaslight. They never should have been legit, and at least once they should have been way out of left field.

If they did a bunch of obvious Biden counts, the fish would figure it out. But if they built up trust, and then kicked someone nobody voted for, but there was conflict with, it would create a great air of paranoia and distrust amongst the Fish.

It would have been a great way to fuck with Binx especially, since she was High School drama Queen and rallying people against her enemies.

It would benefit from appearing unstructured but being coordinated properly behind the scenes. It's a balance that they can't figure out and to be fair, the community is all over the place. Some people want a more rigid schedule, others want the fish to be on their broken schedule, staying up late into the hours with the potential for Jet or Ben to walk up at 4am and do some zany challenge.

I'm convinced they need to get Asmongold on S5 and if they can't they should have Tai pretend to be Asmongold.
while i agree that would be cool to see, do you actually watch asmongold? he hates leaving his house and he despises talking to people in person. also, no amount of money offered would be enough to convince him, he'd have to want to do it on his own accord.

Give him a pc setup to just do his usual streams on while fishtank happens in the background, instruct everyone that AsmonGOD has special privileges and doesn't have to participate in anything and they have to leave him alone if he wants them to
