With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

Wonder if upping the prize money is worth it, or if they should do the day rate thing again. Would the pool of applicants willing to humiliate themselves online forever/tank their professional hireability increase much? Seems like this last season, a lot of the fish just wanted to chill there and get some fans more than really win.
 
final thoughts on S5: very good, not as good as peak S3 but still surprisingly good and exactly what i wanted to be done after the fiasco that was S4, i really liked how consistent it was, also the first season where it felt like the fish were doing more chaos by themselves than what production was telling them to do, in theory the candy challenge should have been absurdly boring and nontent, yet somehown they turned it into one of my favorites, the final minutes of it with the final candy raid were genuinely kino.
as for the controversial ending, while it was definitely unfair, i think people's reactions to it were inflated by the fact people think fishtank was supposed to be a wholesome or moral show, it never was, the fact it ended like that in S1 was a pure coincidence, S2 had equally dark and possibly darker moments. fishtank isn't about character arcs or anything like that despite what AB and other retards say, its about deconstructing people and that is exactly what happened to james drake and the twins: James went from a complete normie failed actor to someone who would do basically any kind of violent thing on the show as long as he felt it wouldn't instantly blacklist him (like racist stuff), meanwhile the wholesome 100 reddit moment josie twins turned out to be a very deppresing rail thin woman who smokes weed everyday to make her forget that her (literally) bigger sister domestically abuses her whenever she gets drunk.

This could go back to the fact the show increasingly has a reputation for being rigged. You'd have to be really dense or ignorant to walk into the tank with a serious tryhard attitude when production can arbitrarily kick you out or rig things against you.
Playing by the rules can cause short term issues but it would have overall lead to a better situation. Hell look at s5, now anyone who has watched this will know if too many people walk at once they'll just bring eliminated people back, even if on a personal level you loved Bashir coming back you have to admit in the grand scheme it hurt the show.

Sure, but apart from the candy recount eviction fakeout, Twins weren't punched down on or deconstructed at all apart from drunk crashouts they inflicted on themselves. Giving them a wrestling match against a determined man who has trained in fighting, ONLY at the final moment where it's either do it or lose the entire game, is misguided at best, cruel in a way that doesn't feel good for anyone (unless you get pleasure from female despair) at worst.

As a new fan this season people coming back really ruined the vibe for me to a degree. I went from "oh shit they are going home damn gg" to "okay i will see them at the finale in 3 days". Brings all meaning out of elimination. Id rather they just stay and not be in the running for the prize.

Day rate is a general good idea but it's not sexy so probably wouldn't impact applications very much. Upping the prize money would absolutely appeal to more people, especially people ignorant of Fishtank, but I doubt they will do it. Perhaps having a guaranteed 1st and 2nd place would help as in seasons 1 and 5, everyone thinks they're a winner and won't walk.

The reputation lingers, though. Let's say an applicant like James Drake wants to look into it. Everywhere you look, people are going to be calling out some of the bullshit. If they bother to ask about it on social media, they will be told the worst of the worst. There's no fixing that at this point.

Keep the prize money as is but add a lot more challenges with cash rewards in the middle. I would even say as far as ~30k in challenge prizes throughout the 30 days which is really not that much in the grand scheme of things.
I would imagine that the biggest thing holding people back is the thought that they will most likely not win the grand prize anyway so why bother in the first place. But if even staying for 10 days would mean a chance for approximately $10k then thats a whole other story.
It also incentivizes them to stay as long as possible even if they pretty much know that they will be eliminated at some point(for example like JD)

thats true, mostly because jet down at his heart is still a simp, he basically grew up on /r9k/. On the other hand production doesn't need to do much, the mere fact people are being watched 24/7 and being submitted to weird/deranged shit makes it very likely for them to slip and let their "real you" trough

Since there was so much arguing over hellhouse vs friendtank earlier this season it's got me curious what qualities everybody is looking for out of fishtank? Like what does it take to make a day of fishtank memorable for you?

For me I think the most important things are it's funny, chaotic, and I guess "absurd" for lack of a better word.

One of my favorite nights out of all seasons was in season 2 when they did the bunk bed building challenge. TJ got absolutely wasted and was just laying on the floor dead while Sam stands in the middle of the room disappointed, Duanyay also drunk as fuck laying on the stairs and we got the iconic "These white people trying to kill me", not a single bunk bed even close to being built the whole night, TJ and Duanyay crawling around drunk in the upstairs hallway/bathroom.

Another night being when they brought Alex's hog wife on the show. The whole event including the Frank wild Randy reveal later, but especially the bedroom scene and Burt popping up in the doorway with a sword and shield because a TTS told him to save Alex B will forever be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
 
My wife got me the fishtank hat so Im no longer a never pays Chad :( it was her first season watching. It's fun talking with you all about the show but way more fun when your spouse is into it.
