Laura stole Frank's bit imho, at least until after JD left. Her "she knows" trolling was A++ premium and far more clever than anything Frank ever did. She got balls-deep into JD's mind just by cold-reading him and tapping into hos innate paranoia. Brilliant. Shame she couldn't just move on to a new victim.

Binx does suck though. I hope we never have to see her again.

Sam and Frank are great assets for the show even though they're both questionable people- mostly as magnets for an audience that doesn't totally suck and isn't married to the streaming and terminally-online clout-chaser world.
Mostly Sam, but Frank and Xavier help too.

The average Sam Fan are guys like Landon and Bash, or girls like Twins, or Vicky. People who are into edgy humor, have been around the internet for awhile, and maybe internalized some of Sam's "clean your room and get a real job" advice
The average Jet fan is a guy who spends 12 hours a day monitoring situations on Discord, and wants to be on fishtank to kickstart their career as an epic internet troll(im totally the next Frank Hassle guise, trust. all my discord buddies think im hilarious and evil)

Sam should at least try to show up for 1-2 days a season just to keep the audience of people who aren't insanely fucked unwatchable retards. I could care less about Frank but I like him

Considering the audience Sam has been catering to for the last 2 years, (heiling try hard groypers) I don't even think Sam believes this. The average Sam fan is s1 Jon, someone who thinks about saving the white race even though they should be worried about not ending up in a group home.

tbh my biggest concern is that jet scares the good people off. the girls don't wanna get nepstein'd and the guys who are interested in post-sam fishtank are all just uninterested basement dwellers.
some of the heiling-groyper audience are gonna be guys like Jon or Jimmy or Bash or Landon who are accidentally interesting just from being organically autistic and weird, which I can't say about the "tapped in on discord" audience.
 
i dont think there'd be a significant difference youd get in auditions whether sams involved or not
all the people who apply are complete freaks either way
and from this season bash was a huge sam fan and he went on anyways so whats the dif

I also think there has been an overall shift in the zeitgeist from redemption to punishment. While i liked how Sam helped fatty i don't think that is a story people want to be told these days.

Have you seen the casting streams? The girls clearly want to be nepsteined lol. We haven't even seen a post Sam season, considering everyone that applied post s4 couldn't know he wasn't going to host it. Other than Bezo, Bashir was the most Fishtank tapped in Fish ever.

This season had story arcs but they didn't quite manifest due to fuckups like the twins winning immunity. One was about James drake going native and degrading himself, another was about Landon finally becoming a man. Neither really happened, but they got 80% there. If a few things went differently, there'd have been a more coherent narrative for these characters.

I'm specifically sperging about this because the latest casting stream of post-s5 applicants is full of complete dogshit compared to the people who applied assuming they'd be meeting Sam/Frank

You're right, but Sam stopped talking about Fishtank on PGL around the same time too. It's just a handful of things that led me to thinking that Sam distanced himself. It's still fanfiction on my part, but I don't know if we'll ever get a straight answer. He just seemed really put out with the show.

And i may be wrong, but i remember on (i think) Day 5 of S04, Sam during a "confessional" with Seth, Daniel and Freddy, when asked by a TTS why was he on a weekend night with a bunch of retards and he said something like "i'm here just solving my money problem." Can't find the video anymore tho :/
