Five Nights At Freddy's

I leave with one last question for you all however, How do you feel about the character change for Vanessa in the film? do you like the route it's going in the film or like how in the game she was more of a computer programmer brainwashed by William instead?
I didn’t even think that Vanessa needed to be in the movie. I don’t think it was planned either. I think there was a ton of stuff that the writing team wanted to do with Afton, but just couldn’t do because the movie was written haphazardly. Or they just couldn’t afford him to be in the movie for more than two minutes.

Imagine if the movie was written around Afton leading Abby into a trap where he could attempt to kill her (some shit about symmetry, idk). It would show us how Afton killed children in the MCI, or how sinister his methods were. There could actually be an intimidating villain in the horror movie.

The weird Saw trap could be used to show how Garrett was killed and stuffed into a suit. It would make sense that the Animatronics would be nice to children since they could be used to lure Abby to Afton. My point is that more of the absurd stuff in the film would make sense if Afton was in Vanessa’s role and the Afton was tweaked slightly.

I've watched the movie and meh, the most appealing part of it was definitely the visual design. Scott probably gave the prop people the original model files he made for FNAF1 and they blew it out of the park with creating the animatronic. That's the part that intrigued me the most, but the story itself was stupid as shit which was evident with Mike working as a mall cop scene because of how uncalled for and out of place it was.

I can 100% believe that Scott was the one writing the story for this movie. Truth be told, he can't help himself but to overcomplicate shit in the most retarded ways possible, with the movie's storyline feeling like he wanted to go back to FNAF1 and redesign it based on what he has wrote up since then, with it coming out, as you'd expect, rather incoherent. And I can 100% believe that him getting MatPat to say the line was all him, becuase he loves shitty humor like that.

But then again I may be overstating Scott's direct involvement in the creation of the movie since it is a Hollywood production after all. Visuals were nice, story was retarded, that's about it.

Any word on how much money this thing is making?
A lot of money

Being second only to one of the most recognizable video games of all time is really impressive for an indie game

Also I say again, the burglars should have been the youtuber cameos. When Matpat appeared there was a collective groan in the cinema, lmao
I wish I had gotten this kind of people. Where I went I got autists clapping and cheering when he showed up, then with the streamer in the cab, then when they said the name "William Afton", and then with the "I Always Come back" and then when the credits rolled.

The movie was fine imo, the cringe came from the audience.

Regarding cosplay, saw a handful of animatronic ears, thots in striped socks and Puppet make up and a pink wig wearing cupcake attempt.

My biggest hope with the FNAF Movie Series, since it will likely get a sequel at least, is that Scott actually tries to tell a coherent story and doesn't go bat shit insane like the game's stories did.
He needs to be tard wrangled, especially with the success of the movie. We know what letting Scott go wild over the story looks like. Hopefully he understands he could get away with a lot in games and books that he wouldn't be able to in a movie or series of them.

Watched the movie, I'll admit I almost soyed at the sparky the dog reference, the overall plot of the movie was not bad, but the move is severely lacking in the horror department, the animatronics never actually attack Mike on the office, and the whiplash of them building a table fort and sleeping is severe, I know the movie later explains that they only did that to gain the girl's trust but it came out of nowhere and felt jarring. And like the other kiwi said, Vanessa didn't need to be in the film, they should've had Afton deliver exposition via phone like he does in the games.

That wasn't Afton on the phone, unless you're Matpat after FNAF2 came out. Why was she Vanessa, a character from the newer Steel Wool games, anyway? They could have made her Phone Gal if they wanted or needed more female characters. (And if you want an easter egg for the fans, a character doing Scott's "Um, hello hello?" as Phone Guy would have been a big hit in the theater)

I'm still confused if they want that to be Vanny or not. At first I thought it was going to be her, but then it felt like they just used her name.
They're probably saving her for the sequel. I don't know how many films Scott intends to make, but if they want her to become Vanny it shouldn't happen on the second film imo, but later down the line, unless Scott only intends to make two films

At the theater I was at everyone clapped when Matpat appeared. I was the only one who didn’t clap because I was confused as hell about why everyone was clapping.
They know who they know for so long that they need to get excited about the name. It's stupid

Just finished watching the movie. It was okay. Like someone said earlier in the thread, it was perfectly mid. I didn't expect to see people get torn apart with torrents of blood spewing out (even if the movie had an R rating instead) but the babysitter getting bit in half really shocked me. I liked a lot of the references and memes like Sparky's, the MatPat cameo, the rainbow logo, Balloon Boy, the poster in the office, the Midnight Motorist shirt...and others I'm sure I missed. I can't help it, I don't go total soyboy flapping wrists at this sort of stuff, but it was a nice "Oh hey, that's neat." handful of moments.

But yeah, it wasn't very scary. Any sort of tension that the movie managed to build was entirely deflated when the animatronics started to get friendly and build pillow forts. I knew it wouldn't last, but it destroyed any bit of atmosphere that the movie had going. I know that having Mike get assaulted by animatronics and then also have him coming back would be hard to justify, but I was disappointed there was essentially zero survival horror to it. No camera-watching, no door-shutting, not even Freddy doing his music box bit. Hopefully things will be a bit scarier in the sequels. It'd be great if they were rated R, but I know that'll never happen.

I think we can all be grateful Dawko didn't make a cameo. Kind of surprised Scott himself didn't appear at all, not even as the Phony Guy or anything.

I do agree that Phone Guy should have made an appearance, or rather, a voiced one. He should have been this character you always hear the voice of but never see it.

Maybe a post credit scene where they find him stuffed into a suit but shockingly still alive and he says weakly "I always wondered what were in those empty heads...back there..." (tho its done in an angle we cant see his face). He needs to be mysterious and you are always unsure if he is really on Mike's side or not. You could even add to his backstory and imply he knew about the murders and, out of guilt maybe, remained at freddy's to make sure the haunted bots wouldnt hurt anyone.

There are many directions you could take this integral character we only know the voice of.

Aww man, Markiplier was apparently going to be the security guard who gets sliced up at the start. :(

I can imagine fans complaining that Mark is "king of Fnaf" and he shouldnt have been given a lowly "opening kill" type character.

Many legit wanted him to play the lead. I can maybe even imagine that happening if Iron Lung wasnt a thing (God knows how that movie will turn out. Its similar to Fnaf that it has such a vague but scary lore that you can take to any direction, for better and worse).
No camera-watching, no door-shutting, not even Freddy doing his music box bit.

I legit expected one of those vandals to run, hide in a dark room and then hear the music box as Freddy's face glows slightly in the background. You could have even done a bit like Dead Space where he glows but so faintly you almost cant see him getting closer and then suddenly he just appears right at his face, doing the familiar screeching sound (almost "replicating" the power outage of the original). It would also make sense since Freddy mostly hides in the dark in the cameras of the original, implying a level of intelligence the other 3 lack.

Hopefully things will be a bit scarier in the sequels. It'd be great if they were rated R, but I know that'll never happen.

Fnaf 3 has the perfect setup for a 80's slasher call back sort of movie. It has a classic setup with short sighted youths messing with a past they have little knowledge or respect for, causing them to unleash a horrifying dormant monster that hunts them down over and over.

In fact, you could do something similar to that scene in Halloween Ressurection where the guy is guiding the girl in the Myers house by watching the cameras in the web show, telling her where Micheal is currently and where to go. We could get a scene with our lead doing the same with some of his friends.

"That thing is in the corridor! I just lured it to the game room! Go go go go."

Went on opening weekend, if it weren't for the zoomers in the theater soying over Matpat and Niggakenshin, I would have fallen asleep.

However, I genuinely wish that this movie beats endgame for highest grossing movie. Wishful thinking, but still.
