Flags & Vexillology

Some flags I appreciate which I believe weren't posted:

St. Louis, Missouri.

Questions for some gay futurist vision:
1) Is there some kind of UN edict against Earth States owning land on other planets/moons/asteroids?
2) I bet some wild interplanetary flags would/will evolve.

I always thought that Traditional flags had a basis in Roman/Western traditions: Like the Field being the base color of the continent, stripes or contrasts being traditional country colors (typically based on the Legion that conquered them for the Empire), etc...

I'm thinking almost all of these rules are gone now. Interplanetary Vexology is where it is AT, baby!

I've always liked the Eureka Flag, it predates the current Australian flag design by about 50 years, is much cleaner and has a cool history to it.
At the time it was referred to as the flag of Australia and still gets suggested and a replacement if/when Australia decides to become a republic.
It gets co-opted by bogans and bikers a fair bit and has become somewhat equivalent to the US confederate rebel flag.
Around 1850, gold miners got sick of the government demanding they pay for the privilege of mining gold, calculated on the duration spent mining as opposed to the actual gold they found. General mistreatment and fuckery, some bullshit court decisions and the gold tax resulted in a rebellion against the gubmint called the battle of the Eureka stockade/The Eureka Rebellion.

In a classic Australian touch, The Eureka Hotel" was the name of the pub which got burnt down by the locals*.

Edit: Which was taken from the Eureka Mining Company, my bad. The rebellion was quashed fairly quickly but contributed to some changes in representation in parliament etc.

Was doing some reading earlier this week and learned about the flag Col. William Moultrie designed for the South Carolinian militia during the Revolutionary War. I couldn't help but think of @Null since it has a moon on it and was flown while fighting the British. I know it has a strike against it since it has text, but I figured the other details might balance it out.

It eventually became the state flag of South Carolina, after replacing the text with a palmetto tree.
