Flappy Bird Returns Back but now with microtransactions

Hell really has frozen over hasn't it. Next thing you know Godzilla exists in real life. I see absolutely no point in ever reviving flappy bird. If nostalgia really manifests it's self in the most unexpected ways possible. It's like if people in Hiroshima wanted to relive the atom bomb. This mentality just hurts my head.

Christ last time I heard about flapbird was from roosterteeth when it was still good and wasn't filled to the brim awful diversity hires, and ya know still existed.
Flappy bird was from a different time for mobile games, back then high score games where big. You had stuff like temple run and crossy road where people would genuinely compete with their friends since smart phones where now so ubiquitous. Flappy bird was so simple and popular that everyone could play it on the shitter to try to beat there friends or coworkers high score for bragging rights. Nowadays phone games have shifted to paying absurds amount of money to collect those sweet pngs and 3d models of poke mans, wrestlers and of course big titty anime women that if you don't get now you will Never get them again. without that zeitgeist of everyone playing and competing with each other flappy bird is just a zero effort asset flip good for a couple of minutes of nostalgia and Internet "news" fodder before everyone forgets about it.

It's pretty obvious why they're going to release it and fill it with microtransactions. Mobile games make fucking tons of money. Just look at DSP. I believe someone provided stats in one of the DSP threads that mobile gaming is now a bigger industry than the movie, music and normal pc/console gaming industries combined or something ridiculous.

I never understood the obsession with this game.
It's the same reason people liked Getting Over It and QWOP . It's a rage game. Also the pioneer of the nu-rage game genre. Some classic rage games like Kaizo Mario, cat mario and Trap Adventure make you rage by trolling you (aka, putting secret obstacles you can't see coming in your first playthrough) turning it into trial and error and memory.
While games like flappy bird where it isn't the obstacles that annoy you, but the gameplay that has you trying to master shitty gameplay mechanics designed to be annoying and unintuitive, which makes it more engaging than "try to guess what spike is gonna pop out". It makes you angry but keeps you playing as a way to try to become good and say fuck you to the game or just as an accomplishment in itself for bragging rights, which makes it very addictive.

Nothing says "I'm broke" like bringing back the game you selflessly removed on moral grounds to benefit everyone's mental health in order to make millions for yourself

My first thought was 'Who the hell would actually pay money for fucking flappy bird microtransactions?' but then I remembered people who play mobile games are even dumber niggercattle than regular Gamers™. This will probably print money.

I predict that the lack of anime gatcha mechanics will leave this game crippled :smug:

Who gives a fuck about Flappy Bird, this shit was tired 10 years ago and trying to cash in on this concept in 2024 is retarded.

Time wasters like that have existed for a long time, it still doesn't explain the obsession with Flappy Bird, i'm sure there must have been games with the exact same gameplay before it, but Flappy Bird exploded upon normies like crazy because....
Pewdiepie, that's literally why it got big in the first place because he played it.

I doubt it was more than a few journalists trying to report on the newest fad. Wouldn't have lasted more than a few weeks at worst. Even then I much doubt it was worth all the money he lost. Millions in ad revenue lost is not an understatement. It was huge. Weren't his parents aware of that?
The Vietnamese government also wanted a piece of the pie and I'm sure having communist spooks all around in your tiny village isn't the most stress-free thing either.

yea android fucking sucks now, this happens with my phone too.

Specifically version 14, any 32bit app will refuse to work. I used to be able to play old apps on my phone but a few updates later and i can't anymore. I found a solution (basically a github apk that's supposed to bypass that) but it didn't work.

So basically the piracy scene for Android is fucked until this gets fixed, unless you want to gamble on a factory reset.
