I remember over ten years ago that we were supposed to run out of chocolate (or the cocoa trees were dying out) I think last year, or by 2030. Haven't heard about it since.

The concern was that the cocoa farmers were going to use their crops for cocaine as they could sell it for more than what chocolate companies were paying for them, coupled with deforestation/reforestation/urban development.
The chocolate wasn't going to run out, it was just going to become unaffordable for the plebs (again).
It's somewhat come true as the % of cocoa and cocoa powder in chocolate has been reduced and substituted over the years.

Edit: Just to clarify, chocolate and cocaine don't come from the same plant, but the owners of the 'farms' where chocolate comes from were/are financially coerced to swap growing one for the other.

Since climate change popped up

The average person believes that global warming means we'll all have to move further north, or even south, to find habitable temps. What will actually occur is temps will begin to equalize with latitude, ie the poles will be within a few degrees of the equator. This is how things were in Earths past, with dinosaurs experienced a world of near identical tropical jungles at the poles and equator. and its like this right now on Venus where the surface level temp varies more with altitude than it does north/south.

That latter bit is why I suspect the public is being 'educated stupid'. If you want to ensure that your descendants are set for a hotter Earth then you need to be purchasing land at higher elevations, not closer to the poles.

While not the largest or most impactful, maybe the thing I've seen most quickly memory holed were the jewish tunnels under NYC.

Less psyop and more memory hole, the Tunnel Jews in NYC have been almost entirely forgotten by anyone not an Internet racist. Xitter users claiming to hear hebrew under their floors and walls, being called schizo, and then a few months later videos of the most orthodox jews imaginable popping up out of sewer grates and manhole covers, and the police finding a bloodstained mattress and children's clothes in the tunnels.
I tried to find good, non-dubbed over originals of the videos but they're a bitch to locate and gave up. If anyone has them stored away in their archives I'd appreciate them dropped here, or a link to a Jim stream or something.

I'm going to caveat this by saying they maybe were also doing child sex trafficking. But assuming they weren't, it got memory holed because it says a lot about how batshit the people involved were. More batshit than just "I want to build an illegal tunnel". It's genuinely fascinating.

I believe the biggest and easiest redpill for being skeptical about climate change is the extreme difference between what solutions they provide the Western/European/1st world nations and then what they allow/ignore in China/India/3rd world nations.
