Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

Amazing race by hulkenberg tbh.
Bortoleto managed a great result despite sauber poor strategy.
Ferrari still hanging on, I think they shouldn't give up because they can manage a constructor or drivers podium for this year still and that has plenty of cash and a great effect on team morale.

Mercedes who started developing the combustion engine of the V6 hybrids in 2007 has now worse reliability than fucking McLaren Honda or Renault now, amazing, I don't think their 2026 rumors of absolute domination are really that true now.

Verstappen binned any chance of a championship victory now, this might be the Vettel Baku 2017 ragequit all over again.

Red bull had a winning strategy but they didn't leave a soft tyre option for the safety car, it was best if they hadn't pitted.
Anyway I think Fernando deserves some credit, he finally got a couple points after a terrible season that wasn't his fault, and he is still managing excellent results despite the car and reliability being fucking 45 years old, I think his example will motivate a fuckton of drivers to keep going, his fitness and medical team must be excellent to allow him to basically pull fighter jet G loads at that age for 2 hours every other weekend.

Take me back.
I agree in spirit but all the examples you guys are posting are guys competing for spots at race pace, not taking into account that VER hit RUS while feigning to give up a spot via team/race director orders. Its one thing to have a "racing" incident and another to basically assault another driver because you didnt get your way and are in the middle of a meltdown after the tank slapper you thought was someone hitting you.
Also lol at the unwashed masses voting Vercrashen driver of the day, democracy truly is one of the worst ideas of the past 200 years.

OK so Chuck hit Max, then Russel hit Max, then GP told Max to give up the place to George, and then Max wheel tapped Russel, and then the Angloids shit themselves (and I assume reddit as well).

I love Max. I love him more today than yesterday tbh. The only thing I fault him for is not sending George to hell.

I hate the britoids so much its unreal.

I wish Schumi wasn't a vegetable so he could laugh at these pussy commentators and pundits to their face.

Verstappen acted like a bitch, exactly like Vettel in Baku, he was under race director orders to give up the position but refused and crashed into Mr woody.

How many times we heard him screaming about "HE NEEDS TO GIVE THE POSITION!!!11" in this season alone when someone forced him off track?

He's acting like a bitch when Lando or hambone calmed the fuck down over the past 4 races and started to focus on their driving, he fucking ended back there with tsunoda for his bitching out.

"Ooh but XYZ did it in the past", doesn't work nigger, he can't act like a nigger and take to his hands, leave to horner and his team of 200 lawyers to challenge if there's enough evidence.

He seriously kneecapped his championship defence, ended with a single point, only worse if he had DNF or tsunoda somehow ended ahead of him and that nearly happened by the last lap because of the penalty.

The stewards explicitly stated that he didn't need to give up the position so you're factually wrong from the get-go. This was red bulls fault from tyres down to communication. https://www.planetf1.com/news/fia-max-verstappen-three-penalty-points-george-russell-spain-gp-crash
Ironically, the stewards announced post-race that Verstappen would not have been punished for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, but Red Bull told their reigning four-time World Champion to concede the place to Russell, a call which did not go down well with Verstappen.

Max was set up to get raped, nobody likes getting raped. Now he's going to have to deal with the media asking him about his rape for two weeks.
Reminds me of when they had a chuckle over Leclerc being put on hards in Hungary.

Looks like Pastry is on track to beat an F1 record that only Australians would care about. He's currently on 5 wins in one season, which is on par with the two other Australian F1 WDC winners, Sir Jack Brabham and Alan Jones. Just one more and he'll beat the record.

That said, no matter how successful he becomes, Pastry won't be the Australian F1 GOAT in my eyes unless he builds his own race-winning car like Brabham did and I can't see that happening any time soon. I don't mean that as an insult, it's more that Sir Jack was a freak.

imo Pastry is the best driver on the grid rn. No, I'm not biased at all.

The entire era of team owners being engineers that designed the car and ran the team and drove is peak F1 in my book.

Double post, but is there any reason the Indy car thread isnt folded into here? This is the only racing thread on the forum with any appreciable amount of activity (I havent looked to see if theres a NAPCAR thread due to lack of interest) and it seems what little discussion of WEC/IMSA tends to end up here as well.

His family is loaded, while he can't drive and design his own cars when the cars need 100 million dollars, super computers and the teams are valuated at least 1 billion dollars each, he can probably take over something like alpine or sauber or even McLaren itself in the future.

Senna was on his way to be a billionaire because he was a genius businessman (and his family, who are now building the tallest residential building in the world right now) back when it was considered a massive salary to get 1 million per race, piastri makes from McLaren alone now around 40 mil, plus advertising contracts, plus his family, he can make a shit ton of money to play lance stroll once he's Fernando's age and still drive for the team for the lulz.

It would be funny to see a older Norris or Russell becoming political figures in the UK because their family is old money and extremely well connected.
