I expect Horner to have his future outside F1, ideally either in WEC or WRC. He's someone who I only can see hired in F1 now if RBR somehow goes into a long downward slide for 5+ years and they come crawling back to seek his services out of desperation.

RBR somehow goes into a long downward slide for 5+ years
That's my prediction for Ford + RBR partnership - it's might possibly be a shitshow, if Cosworth V8 engines are anything to go by. Benetton Ford was a loooong time ago, Zetec V10 was great for that 1% of races when it didnt explode, not to mention Jaguar. I know these engines are completely different, but Ford didnt have a great track record last time.

American companies in general haven't fared well in F1 simply because they get impatient and try to get results faster than they can be gotten out. Then again, this is the story of every other company who goes into F1 and tries to do things their own corporate way instead of giving the team autonomy to do what must be done, in the manner that works for sporting success.

I think if the engine looks hopeless at the end of 2027, they'll switch engines and eat the sunk costs. Maybe a return to Honda, AFAIK they didn't sign an exclusivity contract with AM.

I wonder how much normal fag DTS viewers will whinge if next years engines end up being on the unreliable side adding a ton of RNG to races (like it fucking should be when teams are developing the cars).

Honestly it most likely won't happen but if Max manages to pull a come from behind title win, then it will certainly cement him as a GOAT and the seething of British F1 would be eternal. Still I'll settle for the far more realistic that Max is 2nd in the driver's championship and cause severe demoralization to Norris

I think the Singapore GP will tell us a lot of whether Max is still in the title chase. If so, McLaren have to prioritize Piastri. Norris is too unreliable to be a year-long title challenger.

If they decide to make Piastri number 2, they're basically handing over the WDC to Max, especially if a few of the remaining races are in the rain.

We'll see if it's just the MCL39 being finicky.

But if it's back to season form in the next race, than I think McLaren is pretty safe to take WCC and 1-2 the WDC.

If Maxipads take the rest of the season, he'll end up 2nd. Short of gypsy curses, the only way he makes that deficit is if Pastry finishes 3rd or worse every race and winning everything himself.

As long as Pastry is winning, even Landog finishing 3rd every race won't get Maxipads 2nd.

I, however, do hope that a total shit show unfolds and it comes down to a three way finale with a kino ending like in 21.

I wonder are what point McLaren declares either Lando or Oscar their priority for the driver championship.
They'll have to make a decision soon, especially now what Max has gained some tailwind.

Verstappen being 10 seconds ahead of 2nd place, driving purple sectors by over 1 second each
Drove a 7:56 lap with traffic
3h20m left, let's see if he can beat the 7:49.590 lap record

EDIT: Gap 20 seconds, 7:51 lap driven

EDIT: Don't be surprised to see Lulham's gap go down from ~1:15m to ~40s. He was disadvantaged by a Code 60 section that ended in a way that the drivers behind him got to make up ~30 seconds

EDIT: Pictured: another Code 60, this time to get rid of debris on the track

Looks like Lulham will drive to the end

EDIT: Lulham exiting pit, also pictured is the pitstop of the #6 Ford Mustang in P2

EDIT: There's a Code 60 that's confirmed to be in place until race end, so that's 40-45 seconds of time loss per lap, so the existing race lap record remains unbeaten today

That specific Code 60, since the guardrail is broken and won't be able to get repaired in time for race end

Verstappen/Lulham on track for first Ferrari NLS win in 14 years + first ever rookies-only race win on first race

Verstappen says he wants to participate in the 24h @ Nürburgring, and he needs more practice for that, so more NLS participation is on the horizon
