It looked close but I don't think either actually fully crossed that line. If any part of their tyre was on any part of that line they didn't cross.
F1 twitter is doing its usual thing with "hurr durr it was boring not enough overtakes". Yeah because DRS drive bys are what the sport needs to be exciting...

Touching the line is enough as we had several cases for that in the past. Of course the question will be if there is evidence for that. I highly doubt it will change the result.
Most current F1 watchers have not sdeen Monaco races of the past overtaking is close to impossible unless your opponent keeps it fair. Case in point

I am stoked that Marcus won the 500!! And took the points lead! Nice to see him doing so well in Indy after his time in F1. Huge win and life changing to be forever known as a winner of the 500. I hope he can continue on and maybe actually fight for the title.
Monaco, yeah, that was a race that looked like a parade until the events that turned it into a pretty enjoyable race. But still a shit circuit when it comes to passing opportunities. It was great that the "2nd" drivers finished ahead of their teammates. If we can have same next race the top 4 in the championship will be really tight. Also nice to see George get the better of Ham again, Lewis now 3 full race victories behind Max. Sayonara at any chance of title 8 this year. He'd have to win like 6 races in a row and have everyone else ahead of him not get podiums to take the lead of the WDC.
You have to feel for Charles, and while I would have liked Carlos to nab the win, him finishing second to Checo was fine in my books!

I'm having trouble archiving videos rn. Hopefully this won't get taken down. Uncensored audio from Leclerc's radio during that pitstop, followed by audio from the end of the race confirming P4. The latter is kinda heartbreaking tbh. I'm still happy for Checo and Sainz, but Monaco means so much to Leclerc.

To be fair to Leclerc, normally you win in Monaco by having a perfect saturday and keeping up the pace on sunday. This def was a proper cock-up on behalf of Ferrari.

While yes Ferrari cocked it up Sainz ended up 2nd by not letting Ferrari cock it up for him. It sounds like he was a slower car away from winning too. Sometimes it is a good idea to call strategy from the car, drying track is definitely one of those times.

If Leclerc radio messages are anything to go by he tried to convince his team for a strategy change but it seems he either was overruled or he accepted the team's reasonings. As you said Sainz did it better in this race

This season definitely started with Leclerc favourite for the WDC, especially with Red Bull reliability looking awful but it's definitely got to be Max favourite now with just how fast that red bull is in race trim and Ferrari being Ferrari.

I am not so sure yet. Ferrari seems to have been getting ahead with race pace again. Barcelona showed that the Ferrari can keep it's tyre alive longer now (though the burned out turbo wasn't exactly good) and LEclerc seems to be getting in his focus. And imho Baku and to an extent Canada seem to be more like Ferrari tracks with it's twisting slow corners.. But the team should deactivate theirt clwon mode to get back on the winning side.

I think the Bulls will be untouchable down the ridiculously long straight in Baku which with clown world DRS a Ferrari faster lap for pole probably wouldn't translate into a win.
Ferrari need to sort the speed defecit more than anything else, being 10+ kph slower than the bulls just means being driven around if they're within a second. With the state of modern F1 having the straights as the defacto overtaking zones makes that more important. It also means getting nuked at Monza which is something you can't have at Ferrari especially if they look strong.

Since we are about a third of the way into this season, it's gonna be a two-horse race for the constructor's and a 5 way race for the driver's.
RBR and Ferrari have shown that they both are very capable of making the fastest car for any grid and Merc seems to only be able to get Podiums by out-thinking these two or waiting for convenient retirements. Signs point to RBR being the one to take the constructor's simply because their strategists are better. Of course, Ferrari can sort their shit out but time has shown they are more than capable of spending a lot of money without getting results.
For the Driver's title, I think there's 5 drivers with a possible shot at the title and so far, it looks like it's gonna be a three-way of Max VS Perez VS Leclerc; with Max being the preferred driver of RBR and thus having the strongest shot at the title. Leclerc needs his team to sort it's shit out and himself to stop making stupid mistakes at the worst possible times but he's got the raw pace for it. Perez will only have his shot if he's allowed to race Max and that would be a problem for the team because they might end up having a 2007 McLaren situation with the title fight. Sainz has a shot but it requires a lot of things to go his way and for the team to start favoring him over Leclerc. I found this race pretty good tbh. Would have been better to let them race despite the rain, risk a red flag due to a crash, but let the rain sort things out a bit... but I'm perfectly happy with what I got.
Not a whole lot of overtakes on the track, but Monaco is a war of attrition and strategy anyway. And it delivered there.
Ferrari's blunder with Leclerc was terrible, but at least it gave Perez another win and Sainz could also shine a little. Some decent driving from Sainz, some hilarious mishaps from Latifi and Stroll before the race even really started. Had me rolling.
Great save from Sainz when his rear stepped out on the pit straight, absolutely amazing save from Zhou after the tunnel into the nouvelle chicane.
Mick's crash really made me sad though.
On the plus side, another point for Vettel, it's not much, but it's honest work.
As a bit of a fun fact: apparently, the last time a team secured both front row positions in Monaco without winning was... Ferrari in 2008. Leclerc could have made history today, but he got cucked by the prancing donkey. For shame.

Sainz really deserved his 2nd place, bold decision to go straight to slicks, paid off. Like Russel recently and his call to go long and bank on a safety car.
