This is why I miss Bernie. Whenever anybody acted up there would be a shot across the bows couched in a vague language: 'Maybe it's time so and so retired' etc. His focus was on the sport rather than on the personalities within the sport, who he would indulge up to a point. He knew when to step up and knock people back into line.

I have seen people trying to drag Max into this because of the vague connection with him via his girlfriend. It's pathetic how much energy stans devoted to hating their precious hero's rivals. They all do it but Lewis' are especially venemous.
They're not F1 fans. They're obnoxious fanboys/girls for specific drivers. They're like Ronaldo/Messi stans in football - they don't give a shit about anything other than seeing a highlights reel of their hero and the various baubles attached to their name.

It's interesting that Bernie compared Hambone with Mansell. Nige was also a competent driver whose performance relied heavily on how good his car was, and he also complained about everything non-stop.

maybe "crioulo"(but even then not really) but "preto" is an extremely common word and i'm yet to find someone that thinks its discriminatory or racist. Come to think of it the only word even close to the way nigger is used would be "pardo", and even then only in br chans(a very small group all things considered), for that word also has widespread use as a common non-discriminatory descriptive.

The biggest issue I had with Hill back in the day, was that he seemed very unmanly.

Of course it was a great statement. However the "OMG piquet called Hamilton a nigger, you have to be offended" headlines have already dropped so no matter what he says they won't listen.
I do always enjoy the irony of the anglosphere deciding what someone meant when they were talking in their own language in the context of their own culture and that it must be offensive. "No that can't possibly mean something other than what we as nonspeakers of your langue have decided it means".

Piquet drove races in a time when getting on the grass at the wrong place would mean you would die a horrible death if you are lucky.
If you are unlucky, your car somersaults into a grandstand, explodes and you as well as a dozen or so people from the audience die a horrible death.
Hamilton isn't worthy to kiss Piquet's feet.
It's always most apparent when they argue rules. They have literally no knowledge of this sport, its rules, how the tech works, what regulations apply under what circumstances.
Their understanding is "Someone inconvenienced Bloowis, that person must be punished."
I bet most of them were completely taken aback the first time Lewis was shown the blue flag and had to move out of the way for another car, I bet none of his fanboys understood what was going on there and they wondered, why Lewis wasn't allowed to fight over the "position".
