Now Mercedes is having Antonelli hold up the field so Russell doesn't lose position when he eventually does the drive through.

The race is so boring I fell asleep and missed it.
Yeah, the enforced 2 stop has lead to a predictable strategy. They need to learn that forcing arbitrary stuff is not the best way to go racing.

An electrical push to pass (like they are proposimg for 26) could spice monaco up, you can't use the DRS through the tunnel because you need the downforce and running it through the tunnel itself would really destabilise the car. An electronic boost through there into the chicane would made a viable overtaking spot.

According to reddit, shitty tyres are better than fuel because tyre deg might be more or less than expected.
According to reddit number of overtakes is the only metric that decides how good a race is so constantly go on about how good DRS is and how bad refuling was because you got less on track overtakes (because strategy is beyond them).

The big problem with modern Monaco isn't the lack of overtaking, it's always been that way. It's the lack of jeopardy, they drive 5/6 seconds slower than they could. Look at the 80s and 90s, getting to the end of a Monaco with only 2 retirements and no SCs wasn't a thing, now it is because they never go fast enough for them to crash.

I'd argue the tires being so heavily nerfed is the primary reason for this. Even with the lift and coast bullshit, that is the real reason why drivers don't take risks because you can't get back on the saddle with this rubber.

What changed is that cars are so reliable now. Watch the 1990 race of Monaco. 26 cars, a big 1st lap shunt followed by a red flag, the restart goes smoothly but then one by one the cars fail around their drivers. Nowadays it is rare for technical issues (unless you are Alonso I guess) Even 1996 where only 3 cars actually finished had the benefit of partial rain to cause havoc

Bravo to Williams for not only working well as a team, but also spending the entire race showing just how frustrating this track is.

Also hilarious was how as soon as Max pitted on the last lap, Norris set the fastest lap easily.

I swear, this race would be more fun if they just stuck the drivers in hatchbacks.

Also, what the fuck was Sir Lewis Hamilton doing? Max was intentionally holding up the others on the lead lap and #teamLH could get within 45 seconds?

Get rid of the chicane out of the tunnel, tighten up Tabac to make it more of a breaking zone and we'd get some overtakes/massive smashes, either way thay would probably be the one thing that can be done without massive layout or rules changes.

Good chaotic race, maybe 2 pitstops should be enforced more, glad no one pitted in the first few laps.
Sauber definitely screwing Bortoleto on purpose for no fucking reason though, I starting to feel he's the next Nasr.

Williams shenanigans holding up the entire grid is kinda shitty though, I think there should be some regulation in place to avoid that shit.

Leclerc should chill out too, imola was a disaster for him, but the car is still shit and he managed to nearly land 1st or 2nd despite that, it's funny how Hamilton is the one who stopped moaning and focusing on his drive and he's nearly catching up now.

Alonso is probably cursed, I can't believe his fucking misfortune, I hope he being calmer about it it's because he tested the 2026 car on the sim and realized it was a rocketship designed by newey and not that pre suicidal calm people get before jumping off a bridge or something.

I think Monaco should have it's layout changed or expanded if they are not going to make the cars smaller.

Also Williams really coming in strong, if they didn't stop development early I'm sure they would've catched up with Mercedes or Ferrari fully by the end of the season.

If fucking Ted rabbiting on about nonsense makes me miss any of the 500 I will personally hunt him down and make him eat his own balls.

Oh yeah, I forgot Will Buxton fucked off to indy. Oh well guess I'll put up with him.

at this point the tru litmus test of if you actually are a fan of formula1 and motorsport in general is admitting monaco is absolute trash. All the romantics is exclusively held by the same ilk who made dts successful at this point. Qualifying is kino for sure. But that dosent excuse the fact they gotta obscure the size of these cars with silly ideas like a mandatory 2 stop. Witch not only confirms the cars are toooo big to actually overtake on track. The whole be subtle about team orders bullshit is entirely out the window. This was sad. I usually enjoy most races cause it is enjoying for me regardless the winner or even the discipline but who the fuck is this even for at this point? It has not produced cool racing in over a decade+ and alot of the shit people wax on about is ancient history.

Its a cool track with great views and a dope history for sure. But if they wanna keep it while switching it up they really should consider just make it into a hotlapping event. I know its not as simple as that cause the silly operating windows and startup procedures and shit.

But a 3 session hotlapping competion would be way more exciting. Unlimited softs. Suspend parc ferme and power unit penalties and just let them rip it for hours. Fastest lap takes 25 points. Fast average across all 3 sessions gets the bonus point.

Again I know its not as simple as that but it feels like a better idea than a mandatory minimum that just reinforces the two things everyone hates about modern f1. The team game and the lack of on track overtaking.

Hopefully the 500 will produce some better racing. But thats a whole nother shit show.

Its crazy how people still wanna see a race happen here.
