Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

I'd like to point out that the racing at the 24h of Nürburgring had to be interrupted for 2h15m - red flag
... because of a power outage affecting the entire pit row

That's so fucking embarrassing for Germany as a country
I mean, sure, red flag is appropriate in that situation, but that situation should never have happened in the first place
At this point, thank you for removing the German GP from the Formula 1 schedule
Germany shall be up for eligibility once it stops being a third world country and starts being a first world country again

"Oh crap a reactor leaked a bit after being hit with a magnitude 9.8 earthquake and a tsunami, better turn all of ours off (even though we aren't on a fault nor have much coast), it's OK the wind will save us."
I instinctively saw the gun control parallel in your argumentation there
Other people commit rape, therefore cut off your dick (other people use guns for aggressive ends, therefore give up your own right to own guns)
Maybe there's a parallel to uncover

I really wish we would see some actual NASCAR-style driver fights. This generation's drivers seem unwilling to do anything other than passive-agressively snipe at each other. You just know if Senna sideswiped Prost and a commentator started screaming about how he should be disqualified from the entire championship, he'd have something to say about it- if not climbing into the booth himself to say it.

I see where you're coming from, but I disagree
The speeds, stakes, and budgets are so high, plus the vehicles simply take too much damage even on slight touches
How many NASCAR drivers are there, how many Formula 1 drivers are there? I think the numbers speak for themselves

Its not drivers. FIA will revoke their license for smallest shit. Push someone in paddock? Three penalty points, 250k penalty, and a race ban.

Just watched the F1 film.
It's pretty great although the cinema screen looked like 360p, the sound design was amazing.

Pretty epic cinematography, don't worry, the film is 75% of the run time being race sequences, the female technical director x Brad Pitt character romance is like a 2 minute kissing sequence throughout the entire film, no woke bullshit whatsoever despite being produced by Lewis Hamilton.

It's not an amazing Oscar worthy shit, but it's a well put together film that doesn't snag, and is focused mainly on the race sequences, even at the expense of the character depth or dialogue, which is what you want from a "let's build up a shitty team into a winning at the very end kind" of thing, reminded
me a lot of moneyball or even the first top gun film which had a similar "edgy new kid who makes mistakes but he is coached into success by a surrogate father figure" trope as well.

There's a funny scene:
Hayes first paddock interview has Alonso patting him on the back for his first F1 race in 30 years, lmao.

I hope we can get the camera setup they used on the cars in the future, they used a lot of tiny 360 cameras and 8k and 4k sensors on the same places that the F1 live TV cameras already are in the chassi, add that and a microphone inside the engine cowling and you're bound to have an amazing experience.
.

No thanks. We already have four races in Muslim countries.
I wouldn't mind races in those Arab countries if the layouts weren't boring as fuck, for all that cash, all they could do is hire tilke and his son to make the most boring ass races.

At least Saudi Arabia is going to do something different with that bridge layout, we need some wipeout or track mania designers making the circuits.

At least codemasters had the right idea when making a Dubai street circuit for their Grid games:

2026 will be the year of Ferrari 🤡

Just like it was in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2004

Edit: the rumor is, that Verstappen is about to sign with Mercedes. I assume, if true, Russell will leave. What would his options be? Also a dick move by Mercedes if true, Russell is a good driver, even though he's a bit cunty.

After decades of sadness finally McLaren is back with a good car, good engine supply and good enough young drivers. Too bad it all came together at the end of rule change, hopefully they continue in 26.
This highlights the problem with the ruleset post 2014, its nearly impossible to develop the cars enough after the introduction of the new rules to overcome whatever team gets it right on the first try, hence the ridiculous runs in recent years of RB and Merc. But it seems Liberty isnt interested in any meaningful change to facilitate better racing and closer championships, just fake artificial and meaningless tech rules to give us lame DRS passing in a sport that was never about lots of passing.

Another Q1 elimination for Tsunoda. Why on earth were people acting like this guy was a future superstar held back by a bad car? He's on the same level as Lawson and Checo. In fact, Lawson's outperforming him now.
