Russell is a decent upper mid-field driver, but he's not in the same league as Lando or Pastry, let alone Max who is on another planet altogether for now... give Pastry a couple more years and he'll be Max-tier as long as he doesn't do a Lando wrt "muh mentals".
This is not a hill I am necessarily prepared to die on, but this is how I see the top drivers in F1.
1. Max - The best by a decent margin
2. Throw a blanket around Lando, Piastri, LeClerc, Russell
3. Age ravaged Alonso and Hamilton
4. No one else at this stage really matters
Just as I didn't expect Carlos Sainz to be struggling so much against Albon, it is impossible for me to be sure who is the best out of Lando, Piastri, LeClerc, Russell.
Piastri who is making such a great impression on everyone, could still end up losing the Championship to Lando. I favour Piastri to win it this year from here, but would not be shocked if Lando pips him.
It really doesn't help that Russell carries on like a fag so often(something Nikita Mazepin hinted at), but he clearly has impressive pace and when the Mercedes is half decent, is a regular podium threat or better.
