What's more is that from track to track either Mercedes or Ferrari are able to compete for at least podiums. Just look at this GP, Leclerc and Hamilton came ahead of Piastri (even with Hamilton almost loosing it in the last lap). And Leclerc made Norris life so difficult Verstappen could breeze to Victory. Next race is Mexico and that track is a burden on engines due to it's thinner air. And Merc engines have been quiet unreliable this year. Plus the infamous first corner just screaming "Please do something funny!" Who doesn't remember 2021 when Mercs were 1-2 but Verstappen sneaked on the outside taking the lead easily while Bottas was spun by Ricciardo

The fact that Mercedes and Ferrari have closed in on the performance gap they had to McLaren and that one Redbull car is a blessing for Max if he manages to stay ahead of them all. Would make the McL drivers bleed out more points.

Also, Verstappen has way less pressure than Norris and Piastri as he already won 4 titles and he has more experience fighting for titles (so far he has won every title fight he was technically in).

Either McL driver winning the title would be shitty for the sport, it would feel like a 1999 Irvine champion. Norris especially would be a very haram champion.

Mclaren will be concerned about how easily their tyres overheated and lost performance this weekend. They started the season with a massive tyre wear advantage but seemed to struggle against Ferrari in the heat here.

With Mercedes and Ferrari coming good and getting in the way it certainly makes Max's job easier as long as they don't get in his way.

Just done a check through a comparrison site for the odds in the championship. Pretty much all bookies still have Piastri as favourite but universally have Max with shorter odds than Norris.

I really hope Max wins by 3 points or less, then the retarded "norris had a slow stop let him past for fairness" is what screwed Piastri out of the championship.

Norris is barely a GP win ahead of Max. One poorly thought out maneuver or mechanical failure away from having his advantage totally eliminated.
I'm at the point where I don't car if Max or Pastry win the WDC, just so long as Lando come third where he belongs.

I'm not a betting man, but I wish I'd put a few dollars on Max around the time McL started obviously fucking with Pastry.

So many people saying he's guaranteed to walk it and expecting the largest winning points marging ever.

Sure I would expect he's going to do ok, but I would not expect a total walk over.

I saw the betting talk earlier and had to pitch in; my local betting shop gives Max 2, Oscar 2.5 and Crylando 2.95. The people (or at least the betting places) really like his odds, which tells you how much McLaren have fumbled so far
Yeah about same. I am glad I got the hundred down on MV at 7.5 a week or two ago. I figured it was worth a punt for sure.

Just looked at same book I put the bet down and they have Max and Oscar at 2.625 and Lando at 2.75. Russell is 501! LOL

I have been thinking about throwing something down on RB to finish 2nd in WCC. On Betway RB are joint with Merc at 2.5 and Ferrari is 3.25.

The most Islamic and cursed way for Lando to win the championship is if Piastri chokes and Mercedes has one of those random weekends where they're the best, and Osama wins, denying Max the perfect results he needs to snatch the championship, while Lando finishes seconds behind him but still wins it all.

i'll be honest, i tuned out when i heard crofty (?) complain that leclerc was tattle-taling on lando for going off track. i'm so fucking sick of the bias. i'd PAY to not have to listen to commentators. drivers do it each and every race, osama bin russel does it every second race alone but if someone does it to a poor young english chap then it's suddenly a bad thing.
As an American, I flew down to Austin for the my “home” race for the first time. Instead of using F1TV for the commentary feed played in the stands, they used the same randoms that casted the Porsche Carrera Cup race earlier in the day. They were very good: their commentary was factual and unbiased.

Oh for sure. I locked in 7,5 as well a couple of weeks ago, seemed like great odds for such a driver.

How do you think Fat Brown will sabotage Piastri? At this point I'm certain McLaren is trying to engineer a dramatic WDC for the Crying Brit a la 2021

I suppose they couldn't deflect with muh racism like they did with bloois so had to stretch to make people not liking Norris into soggy knees.

At COTA, I'd say that 90% of female fans were wearing McLaren #4 merch.

Why do they like him so much? He has a shit personality, below average looks, and is a mediocre driver who fails under pressure. I would understand if they all got wet for Leclerc or Hulkenberg, but Norris???

And I'm sure they care more about the sport than they do about writing fanfic.

(After the hint in this thread, I looked at AO3 and oh...my...lord. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. As a legit woman, I can't imagine why anyone would even look at Verstappen or Norris if they weren't the top drivers. I don't even think LeClerc is anything to write home about. I'd give him a pass if Carlos Sainz didn't exist.)

Seriously, though, it's worth questioning why women don't like sports as much as men and then maybe we'd finally be able to make the WNBA profitable.

Personally, I think if F1 is going to push hard on the idea that grid drivers are public personalities instead of guys that show up, do the race, and then go home, then yes, you're going to get a contingent of fans that are only there because they think their favorite driver is hot. If women don't want to deal with the claim that they're only there to fangirl, then maybe they can be bothered to do something other than fangirl (and, for their part, F1 could make less of their personalities any kind of issue: right now, is half the fun really betting on who is going to lose their absolute shit first; Tsunoda for being in Max's shadow, Russell for knowing his boss likes someone on a different team better than him, Piastri for not taking Papaya's shit anymore and everyone's favorite sad-sack, LeClerc?).

Find me a woman who can explain so much as "lift and coast" to me, and I'll take back everything I said, but still tell that women to throw a few dollars to women's sports.

Wellll, there is this:

Unless something dramatic happens the title looks like it might go down to the last race so that won't be helpful.

My guess is because he looks/acts like this shy little boy so the young girls look at him like he is 13 or 14. So he is like a loveable moppet. Have we ever seen him raging mad or cursing? I don't recall anything outrageous. He's also loaded so there is that too.
I don't know, I am not a teen girl but thats my guess! LOL

My thoughts are that it's very possible for Max to win his 5th driver title and cement himself as an all time legend. RB seems focused on winning the driver title now and Max is relentless under pressure. Meanwhile, Pastry is throwing away his title to win with a team that seemingly doesn't want him to. Lando all the while would be among one of the shittiest WDC of all time. If Leclare or Max were in a McLaren, they'd likely already had won it by now

Max, Norris, and Piastri all have 1 swap to go. You would never do it when you have a sprint so no Brazil or Qatar, and Vegas is a build up circuit so that leaves Mexico and Abu Dhabi. Norris is sitting out FP1 in Mexico which leaves Abu Dhabi as the only opportunity for Piastri to swap out. It is one of the least representative practices of the season since FP1 is done during the day and all the other sessions are at night so it's not really a disadvantage.
