F1 is lucky the race in Jeddah got cancelled. The track is so fast yet still narrow, it would have been a carnage, and not because of any missile.
Oh damn, now I feel cheated for being deprived of that shitshow.
How many times are they gonna reference Mario Kart? Play a different arcade racer.
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune uses essentially the same cabinet as the arcade version of Mario Kart. It doesn't have mushrooms, but it has a boost that allows anyone who falls behind to catch up. You can fall hundreds of meters behind and still catch up given enough race distance.

In other news, I'm seeing people arguing that Collidepinto was at fault for taking out Twinkman because he jinked to defend his track position and that he should have just given up because Olly was faster heading into it. Not sure what the rules are on that, but the stewards didn't do anything about it, and the only reason they're even having that discussion is because of this ruleset.

Let's call that The Belgrano's revenge.

The rules on that are a driver is entitled to defend their position and it is on the overtaking driver to get alongside safely.

Not much Bearman could have done thanks to the massive deceleration of Colapinto from the battery charging system but ultimately Colapinto was absolutely fine to defend his position though 1 change of direction, he doesn't even need to leave a car's width because Bearman was never alongside.

They need to fix the technical issues that caused this not do some retarded rule change to make defending while charging illegal or make it on the car getting overtaken.

It's just another instance of retards on social media don't understand the sport so just make up/read and run with some nonsense take. They're the same retards who are defending this retarded ruleset because "muh more overtakes" while ignoring any considerations of skill.

The new Mario Kart regs may have saved some penguins - maybe even a turtle or two - but they have left the FIA in a tight spot. The thing that the experienced drivers said would happen has happened. Even Alonso who, if he grew a moustache, could conceivably pass as Mario's body double, thinks that the current generation of F1 is some dangerous shit. Everybody knows the Bearman accident could have been much worse if he'd caught air. It could have been opening scene of Freejack levels of bad:

Nobody wants a situation where, at the moment of collision, a driver is teleported into the near future, where he is hunted by Mick Jagger on behalf of Anthony Hopkins, who wants to put his brain in their body. I wouldn't even wish that on Stroll.

Is there anyone here with the nous to explain what the options are to someone like me, whose technical knowledge of the sport amounts to: "'Throttle used make car go fast on straights, now no make car go fast.'

The sad truth is that the death or serous injury of a driver will cost the financial stake holders in the sport far less money that tossing out the regs, so I doubt that the latter will happen. Can the package as it stands be tweaked in some way, or can it only be shored-up by rule changes that are so brain-clenchingly retarded that just reading them gives you Parkinsons?

the obvious option is to reduce the power of the electric motor to increase battery life at max power which iirc has already been floated, the question is whether or not they will agree to boost the combustion engine to compensate. so far theyve seemed resistant to this

And miss the chance to watch Stroll develop an actual personality?

I never knew I wanted a Freejack future, but you didn't have to sell me so hard on it.

I don't even buy that.

The batteries need to be mined, contructed, then disposed of and I guarantee all that is far worse than just throwing some magic dead fish juice in. Plus when superclipping they are just burning a load of fuel to recharge the battery which will not be even close to 100% efficient so no difference to having no battery and continuing at full throttle.

The engines through the last era were efficient beyond anything a road car could hope for which is insane and was actually pushing tech forwards, plus they already used a mandated percentage of renewable carbon neutral fuels.

Stick to that and mandate 100% renewable carbon neutral fuels and you'll be advancing tech far better than just a couple of batteries. The company that comes up with an affordable engine that runs a carbon neutral fuel will be making bank because no matter what people say everyone would take a clean refulable car over a BEV.

how do we tell him

Honestly given how vocal and openly shitting on these years regs, I'm really expecting him to jump to Sportscars after this season is up because currently the "Peak of Motorsports" is a clown show at the moment.

If 2019 impresses them someone send them to clips from 2004, they'll lose their mind.

Just listen to what they stole from us...

The joke was more that Ferrari cheated their fuel intake back in 2019 but you can't go wrong with a V10 tbh

Of course, but it was still crap. Bring back the V10s.

In other news Toto thinks this mess is exciting (obviously because he's winning, the cars could actually follow eachother rules were dangerous and needed changing because they were crap).

Except for Italians (since italian driver winning and Ferrari doing decently) there is a huge drop in viewership.

I did a small compilation how driving through 130R changed over the years (and regulations) Probably missed a few good cars but shorts are limited to 3 minutes

The 6 measures to be discussed at the FIA and teams meeting (that totally isn't an emergency, it was always planned) are reportedly these.
