I wouldn't post shit like this, but for the conversation that's current in this thread.
This is probably some of the most transparently astroturfed shit I think I've seen from any team so far...from a team that doesn't even need that (McLaren, as the top teams go, is probably the most feminine-coded with a sensitive twink and an uwu awkward geek as drivers.)
Jesus, someone tell the admins at McLaren to delete this post.
Glad I checked the thread. I forgot that was this weekend. And that Q is apparently live now.
Did a search, and sure enough it is. Here is livestream: https://youtube.com/watch?v=clsMDdPd9BoThe announcer said it seemed to be clearing up. So not sure if improvements are on the table.
I think a bunch of channels are restreaming. Either way, its always a good race since the track is so large it can be raining on half the track and completely dry on the other half. It like Le Mans, is good background watching.
Funny sidenote for the 24 hoursa: there was a "all Girls" team and they are already out because one of their drivers crashed into another Porsche (who had stopped with a fire) and they won't be able to fix their car for the weekend. But to be fair to them it wasn't their fault as they seemed to have not enough time to react (at least according to the racing stewards). Here is a replay of it (and by god that Prosche driver was a retard because drivers are supposed to leave their car quickly not go back to it)
Speaking of Liberty, they recently bought MotoGP and they're now talking about introducing urban circuits to the competition, which is suicide. They don't give a rat ass about muh safety.
Talking about? The 2027 Australian MotoGP is confirmed for Adelaide, on a modified version of the old F1 GP street circuit. Old F1 circuit in red, new MotoGP circuit in black.
Not sure if those have external electric disconnect switches or not but he may have hoped it was safe enough to pull to stop a fire, realized better once it was hit and on fire

According to the reports I read the driver went back to his car to make the marshals come quickly to put out the burning car (kinda understandable, Imagine loosing your car to a fire right before the main event even started)

Dude was in a high adrenaline situation and made a bad judgment call
Save yourself first, then save your team, then save people around, *then* you can try to save the car, in that order

Yeah this is probably the most important point. The NLS and 24 hours of the Nordschleife were for a long time events for a majority amateur and semipro teams and usually a small handful of real pros joined in. But this has changed over the last years
And to your point the Dacia was nearly comletly wrecked last year (I think it was last year) the Dacia team was saying back then that this might have been their last race because they needed a lot of money to rebuild the car
FYI if you're following 24h@Nürburgring
Mapelli, who is currently in 1st in the green #130 Lamborghini, has a 32 second time penalty because of a jump start (the green light isn't decisive; the pole sitter is in control of the race start)
For time penalties below 1 minute, there's no need to make an immediate pitstop. The time just gets added to the next normal pitstop (the car has to sit there for an extra 32 seconds on top of the mandatory minimum pitstop time)
(There are many reasons for the mandatory minimum pitstop time, including the fact that the gas pumps are not perfectly equal across the entire pit row)
I reckon this is useful information for the entire duration of the race
EDIT: Mapelli had a pitstop and the car is no longer in the top 10
Right now, Max Verstappen is getting ready to get into the #3 Mercedes
And Verstappen is on track, currently 10th in overall track position
EDIT: Verstappen is huffing the #7 Lambo in front straight out of the exhaust pipe, this is extremely aggressive racing, with just less than 23 hours left to go
EDIT: Verstappen is racing so aggressively, he went full risk over a cusp, to the point the front lifted off, and he nearly ended his car, he came this close to just smashing into the barrier
EDIT: t-22h40m, Verstappen overtook the #26 AMG right in front of him on an uphill straight, now 9th in overall track position
EDIT: t-22h31m, Verstappen had more exit speed out of a chicane and made a risky move to overtake the #7 Lamborghini, now 8th in overall track position
EDIT: t-22h20m, first big accident (Code 60) of the race
Dominik Fugel in the #75 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II seems to have lost it over a cusp
EDIT: Looks like tire damage, dude became a passenger
EDIT: t-22h11m, Verstappen, now 6th in overall position, is sniffing the exhaust-
he went full risk, completely crazy, two wheels off the track, past the #47 AMG, now 5th in overall position
Jesus Christ, he's simracing on track with ~160 cars in the field
EDIT: t-21h54m, OOF, the #45 Ferrari that was doing such a good job and led the race for some time has gotten off track while lapping a slower car, lost control, and is now totaled
EDIT: t-21h49m, Verstappen and the cars around him (like the #7 Lamborghini and the #911 Manthey Porsche) are pitting
Verstappen is staying in the car, so he's doing a double stint
EDIT: t-21h46m, Verstappen's pitstop is over and he's back on track, currently 5th in overall track position, with the #911 Porsche in 3rd
I agree with the German commentator, today we are witnessing overtake attempts in never-before-seen locations
The #130 Lamborghini that got the 32 second time penalty for the jump start is in 8th
EDIT: t-21h40m, rain is commencing at several parts of the track, we're seeing the first drops, including on Verstappen
EDIT: t-21h36m, Verstappen is fighting hard against the #911 Porsche
and overtook by divebombing, now 3rd in the race, or leading the entire race if you take into account different pitstop scheduling
EDIT: t-21h35m, two, no, three cars have now spun off the track
touring cars are losing the rear
the track is wet
it is indeed raining, wipers are on
EDIT: t-21h32m, RIP the #16 Audi, limping back to the pits
EDIT: t-21h19m, lol, Jimmy Broadbent is leading in the alternative fuel class and there's foot cam
EDIT: t-2h15m, Verstappen is side by side with the #67 Ford Mustang in 2nd place, really exciting battles, and I reckon an overtake is imminent
t-21h11m, the battle between the #1 BMW M4 GT3 and the #9 Ford Mustang right behind him has been going really close for really long, it's really exciting
Verstappen nearly "knocked on" the #47 Ford Mustang in front of him, the racing is marred by Code 60 section - green flag - Code 60 section - green flag etc.
t-21h9m Verstappen overtook the #47 Ford and is this close to overtaking the #34 Aston Martin leading the race
MAX VERSTAPPEN IS LEADING THE RACE
EDIT: t-20h55m, according to the German commentators, heavy rain is set to come in around 7 PM, that's t-20h
Verstappen is still leading the race, and the gap to the #67 Ford Mustang piloted by Olsen is fluctuating around 1-4 seconds, depending on yellow/Code 60 zones
Maxime Martin in the #80 AMG (currently 6th on track, within a second of the #1 BMW in 5th) is said to be a feared rain specialist in the GT world
EDIT: t-20h47m, really cool battling for 5th going on between Maxime Martin in the #80 AMG and Jordan Pepper in the #1 BMW, they're overtaking each other back to back
aww, Pepper pitted. Martin is in 5th, within a second of the #64 Ford in 4th
EDIT: t-20h44m, the #67 Ford and #34 Aston Martin have pitted, like I said earlier with Verstappen technically leading from 3rd due to pit stops. He is still leading the race, with a 19 second gap to the #911 Porsche in 2nd
EDIT: t-20h30m, Max Verstappen is in the pits and exiting the car.
The #911 Manthey Porsche in 2nd, the #7 Lamborghini in 3rd, and the #80 AMG in 4th piloted by Martin are also pitting
Martin is doing a double stint, so we might see some really cool rain action with him behind the wheel
GG so far!
EDIT: t-20h25m, there is rain at the GP track, this sucks for those who are out with fresh slicks, but it's still too early to change to rain tires
EDIT: t-20h12m, if you recall that broken Audi R8 limping across the track, that accident was caused because of mi-
Oh shit, the #911 Porsche in 2nd had a collision, is spun out, and lost positions
Anyway, broken Audi R8, there was a-
woah, look at the Porsche
so, there was-
ah, the Porsche slid on its own, went off track, ass-first into the barrier.
Audi,-
oof, Estre drove off the track, the race is over.
So, as for the Audi-
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
What an impact for Arjun Maini in the #64 Ford Mustang!
So, what I wanted to say is that the Audi collision was caused by literally mixed signals. Like, Code 60, suddenly green, suddenly code 60, suddenly green, and a driver in front was still going slow. That has been investigated and it turns out that it really was a signal issue, so no driver has been penalized.
EDIT: t-20h7m, Maini looks to be alright, but the car is gone
Olsen in the #67 Ford is leading the race now, with Joules Gounon in the Team Verstappen AMG in 2nd
EDIT: t-19h58m, replay shows Maini just slid out and crashed at full speed
