I think it might be foxes are just cuter animals that remind people of their pet dogs or cats and the British have a strong affilation with them because of things like Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox, Basil Brush and The Animals of Farthing Wood.
Probably, honestly. It's not like they're doing what they did with dodo birds, where they were beaten to death with clubs as a game. So much to where they became extinct.

Also here in Britain class is still a big issue and many dislike what the upper class do on principle.
I can definitely see that. At least class is a more reasonable thing to be angry about than race, as much as I don't like people taking the opposite side purely based on affiliation.

Foxes are still going to be killed by farmers though, this way it brings money into the local economy.

And farmers don't? Farmers have an actual morally justified reason they kill animals that threaten their crops and livestock. They're doing it to feed other people.

There's that, too.

And that.

But seriously, there's a fundamental moral difference between killing varmints that need killing and just torturing and killing some animal for no reason other than so a bunch of upper class fops can dress up like faggots and yell tally-ho and shit.

Fox hunting is fucking cruel, that's obvious.
Animal cruelty aside, fox hunting isn't that harmful to fox populations in the UK. In 2003, sources say that only 6.3% of all killed foxes a year are killed by fox hunting while most are killed by either getting run over or disease.
Allowing Fox hunting could also help farmers defend Lambs and chickens from foxes (it's common for a farmer to lose up to 20 lambs a year to them).
However, Fox hunting does cause a lot of collateral damage to the area it's done in, it's been reported that otters and badgers have been killed by foxing dogs after the fox has been ripped to pieces and fields and gardens can be ruined after 2 dozen dogs rip through them. Not to mention that private property is sometimes intruded upon and, as it turns out, Feral bloodthirsty dogs don't care who or what they have to bite through to get to the fox.
Foxes are pretty common in the UK right now, and i'm willing to bet that even if it passes, it'll be banned in a couple of years anyway.
Anyone who actually does fox hunting is a spineless cunt and should kill themselves, but it's not like we needed another reason to hate May or UK parliament anyway.
If anyone gives a shit, my own opinion is fox hunting should stay banned, but it does have its (very small) perks

I'm saying farmers are going to kill the foxes anyway but with fox hunts there's a whole industry behind it that helps local rural communities.

I'm pretty sure a farmer with a shotgun taking out a fox (and one that is actually guilty of predation) with a well aimed blast causes less additional damage than a bunch of rampaging drunken upper class twits fucking up the entire countryside for days on end.

well it's not technically "hunting" as much as it is "sport". hunting is aiming for a quick clean kill, utilitarian. trophy and sport hunt is another thing entirely.

doesn't matter if it's slugs or puppies. the process is gratuitous. that's really the only objection I can have.

sort of like how I'll hunt grouse and turkey, but I'd never attend a fucking pigeon kill. what's the point? it's not hunting.

Fox hunting is bullshit though. If it wasn't done by the upper-classes it would be considered barbaric, akin to cock or pitbull fighting.

Only fox hunting is way gayer since it's not even a one on one brawl to the death, it's a brigade of people on horses with dogs chasing down something that can't fight back or escape.

The only motive you could have to promise its revival is to get votes from the "upper class". This would be akin to promising open border crossing & alien habitation in the U.S. to get liberal votes, only this is even dumber considering there's certainly more poor people than there are rich people in the world.

I like how a thread about fox hunting salt is full of people being salty about fox hunting. No need to post examples from other sites.

I for one can't wait to hop on my horse dressed like a faggot and ride around the woods with dogs yelling tally-ho and shit.

Even despite this, down here in the Wild West Country a lot of them shoot badgers anyhow, then fling the corpses onto the road so it looks like they've been run over. Nobody's generally very arsed to autopsy a badger, so...

LOL, I'm going to have to rate this genuinely informative.

I've been living in the South West for about two years, and I was wondering why anyone bothered shooting badgers when they all seemed to be increadibly suicidal anyway.

The streets of London may not be paved with gold, but the streets of Taunton are paved with badgers.

Standards of salt are dropping if "no that's wrong" and "Fox hunting is retarded" is all it requires for salt.

Personally the whole thing is cringey, weird and totally self-indulgant. Old money pretending they contribute something as opposed to an ineligant torture session instead of methodical pest control.

Fucking cringe, I'm half expecting weird rituals out in the woods as proto furries.

I can see why people are pissed-especially considering how fond the Tories are of shitting on the poor and disnefranchised or is at least seen to be.

Irony at its finest. It's one thing to say how fox hunting is impractical, it's another thing to get personal opinions on it involved.

I for one can't wait to hop on my horse dressed like a faggot and ride around the woods with dogs yelling tally-ho and shit.
Bound to make some people salty.

I'm beginning to wonder if this really is worthy of a thread. Right now we're the ones producing 90% of the salt here. If people really want to debate the merits/flaws of fox hunting, this should be moved to world news instead.
