PZ is veering dangerously close to being a lolcow in his own right these days. He says that if the dog park rape culture hoax paper had been real data that it would have been a valuable contribution to science.

the post is about an exchange that happened in response to his embarassing tweet to bret weinstein that wrongthink isn't punished on college campuses. He doesn't address the substance of the majority of people who pointed out to him that he is wrong, he instead picks out easy targets to talk back to (like thunderf00t did on youtube or like maddox did on the best page in the universe, internet cowardice is pretty similar everywhere). In this case there is a rumor that he got butthurt that he didn't get named one of the four horsemen of atheism (way the fuck back when christopher hitchens was still alive). And he goes on at length about how that isn't true. He's fine being a biology professor who is most famous for discarding a cracker.
edit: also jesse singal asking him to correct some bullshit PZ made up about stephen pinker, every comment is about how PZ used to be cool (laci green is in there saying it too)

The backlash from having Rationality Rules on his podcast obviously hit him harder than originally thought. Don't give into the mob Matt. They'll never be happy.

Those were my exact thoughts. I went there just now and I see it's all about social justice. Atheism has been reduced to a footnote. There's a logical explanation for that, but I feel it would be irrelevant to this thread. Instead I'll just say that I'm surprised they're still bothering to keep the site online. I checked Google Trends and their traffic has pretty much flatlined.

"Progressives" and the Atheism+ movement has ruined most atheist circles. If you want to be an atheist, you are now pushed into other left wing cultures, which most people don't want.

I was reading about PZ Meyers in order to just do research and it's amazing that his wikipedia page hasnt been updated in years to include all this recent stuff. I dont care what ideology you are but it's weird to be so militant and unreasonable about having faith that biological reality isnt as clear cut and deterministic as it seems while being an outspoken euphoric athiest
It's also weird to brag about how you will change your mind as evidence arises and then outright deny evidence because it contradicts your worldview. Like I bet you now that people are getting fired for Palestine statements he now believes that attacks on professors happens. This is what happens when you have zero empathy for others and have no underlying philosophy for appreciating science
