Despite the fact that they went overboard with this mod showcase and some odfthe voice acting present is iust plain bad in my opinion, most of the mods look cool but I would say ny favorites are: The monika update (Let hope nothing goes wrong this time),Subway Sax battle,Filp side,Sickening love, The tabi love week, Jet set raido, torture and flippy

i'll admit i hadn't capped much before now (i hadn't thought of it, but that's on me). i can't call retro the milkiest person but i think it's safe to say he has a few traits that are quite grating
i've grabbed a selection of twitter caps from May Onward and i'll kinda be mashing them all together here (and going forward i'll be trying to archive anything that seems juicy to me)

he's definitely a busy man.
one of the most glaring things i can use as an opener is how much vehemently retro INSISTS he hates kids and isn't pandering to them...
...while the whole of his youtube career comes off of, more recently playing FNF, but other 'kid-friendly' titles as well as making video game remixes of such: other examples i can point to include undertale, splatoon, sonic the hedgehog, mario, zelda, i'm sure you get the point.
i think his initial 'claim to fame' was either remixes of pokemon or splat 2, but he hadn't seen his biggest follower boom until he touched upon FNF 7 months ago when his follower count started jumping from hundreds to thousands per week. retro has since continued to focus on primarily FNF.
here's a screencap from his phone of a fanart turning it into a joke. i don't think i need to divulge much more here since he'll keep bitching about kids every few weeks. some posts onward hold mentions of it as well.
context: so back when tricky v2 came out, retro was struggling with the last two tracks while streaming his playthrough of the update. he chimped quite hard, and then bitched about his kiddo fans who were initially bitching about his uptick in harsh language.
one trip to any of his spaces would tell anyone how hard he fails at keeping things "mature".
two things he's partial to doing here: never shutting up about NSFW things, and moaning about negative comments.
he talks about NSFW a lot, both consuming and once upon a time trying to create it; he has his +18 account directly linked to his twitter, at @RectumInspecter (previously @Retro_NSFW)
to my knowledge this account was open for about as long as i've known this guy exists. which is a long while. the account is now on lockdown, so i can't help but wonder what prompted that.
back on topic, he also likes screencapping negative comments and putting them on blast so his fans can stroke his e-cock.
that's it. that's the cycle.
he would continue to sprinkle teasers throughout the summer and ultimately made the release of his mod as underwhelming as possible, including the one-off twitlonger.

the last notable thing i can think of was, back on June 5th kawaisprite had stated (though kawaisprite's whole account is now deleted and i can't find any caps of the OG tweet. if i stumble upon one i'll edit this post) that he doesn't listen to fan songs, allegedly to avoid 'ripping them off'. this upset retro and kamex quite deeply.
the closest i can find is this, which would have been a reply to the main tweet (iirc: a picture of kawaisprite's spotify showing fanartists like retrospecter, kamex, nyxtheshield, and some other who artists. he said something along the lines of 'not knowing who they were')

like i said not particularly milky. at least not enough to warrant a separate thread. but retro himself is easy enough to dislike IMO.
he's managed to avoid controversies pretty well surprisingly, but i'd bet on some grooming allegations coming out of his community eventually. wether they're directed straight at him remains to be seen

I know there's been a lot of drama in the fanbase again due to AetherDX being outed as a pedophile. A lot of mod creators are leaving and stuff.
At this point i'm starting to wonder if this game will die before it's ever fully released despite the kickstarter. the fanbase is doing itself in from the looks of it.

I'm gonna go ahead and be optimistic and say that the fanbase is just going through some growing pains here. Odds are, things will mellow out eventually, kind of like how FNaF's fanbase did a few years back.

We mostly have to hope that all the good mod contributors don't get chased away by the cancel crowd. Mods are what's keeping people playing, and if we stop getting new releases because someone found a Discord log of the modders saying the gamer word, then it's not gonna be good.

I appreciate your optimism for a fanbase, considering the 'everyone's a groomer' arc it seems to be going through, plus there are some really good modders and I'm interested in what the full game will have... but for the fandom? I say let it die!

Modders have like three different versions of BF's voice that they use. The one you're hearing that video is the least used one from what I can see.

Friday Night Funkin' D-Sides mod has been updated up to week 4 now. Like with Skid and Pump, week 4 is supposed to have an additional, original song. The soundtrack for both the main menu and retry screen has also been changed to something new. I'm about to check it out.

Edit: Pico has a mechanic where you sort of "dodge" bullets he fires at you. The arrows are black in color and while missing them doesn't kill you outright, it does drop your meter just under to 25% of the bar per missed note. The gunshots also add some neat percussion.

D-Sides Boyfriend is such a 2000s bootleg version of vanilla BF he even has 2000s Sonic poses for dodging Pico's shots. (Edit: this isn't with malice, I live for how 2000s the entirety of D-Sides feels like and that's why it's my favorite remix mod with Starcatcher.)

For how D Sides has been developed so far, the two weeks and new song for week six seems feasible but 3 playable characters and depending on who you play as, the song will have a different variant? Does this go for existing songs? Assuming weeks 5 and 6 add 7 songs, that brings the total to 22 including the tutorial. If you have a total of four characters with each song having a different variant per character, that's 88 variants. That's quite a large increase in workload. He should be careful to not get too ambitious and bite off more than he can chew.

Doesn't he know that he would need twice the man power he currently has in order to accomplish all of that? I would hope that he does, but probably not. Just don't make promises like that if you can't live up to them, just saying. Oh well, at least if this blows up right in his face, the only thing that'll be wasted is people's time.
