I hope there can be a nice trend of people uploading nice aero esque wallpapers here now
TempleOS?Well at least we can rest assured there will always be one operating system that won't succumb to flat design, ever:
There are all kinds of studies how even a single extra click required in an interface can drive away users and reduce line-go-up. Because of this, interfaces must be made as retarded as possible, for the blackest, milkiest, most easily spooked niggercattle.TempleOS?
But man do I miss the the optimism and bright future this style used to have. The flat minimalist shit now is just so depressing and devoid of life. Would a bit of 3D or some gloss kill graphic designers now days?
In UI/UX, the biggest question to ask is “is this enough voodoo? Or too little voodoo?”There are all kinds of studies how even a single extra click required in an interface can drive away users and reduce line-go-up. Because of this, interfaces must be made as retarded as possible, for the blackest, milkiest, most easily spooked niggercattle.
It's because those old Winamp 1.x/2.x skins were just bitmap hopscotches, the UI was rigid. They were so trivial to make that you had skin generators that's overlay generic UI elements over an image of choice. Personally, I find the Bunker skin the most creative out of all the classic skins.Call me a snob, but I'd say the one on the right is uninspired. You can't just slap your celebrity crush on a skin and call it a day. Make it a real theme.
IMO Vista was the peak of Windows visuals. It had more contrast and, let's call it "positive visual noise" going on compared to 7, and the Aero glass design was the perfect balance between corporate cleanliness and the Y2K era skeuomorphism. When I recently installed it on my old PC I really felt the nostalgia. It's a shame 8 happened and Windows' fate was sealed from there, and we were all forced to either accept it or move to Linux, both being subpar options. Even though 7 is still better than modern Windows and modern Linux combined.Nothing beats Windows Aero.
You'll find a vast searchable repository of these styles in the Winamp Skin Museum. For instance, I hit the random skin button and it brought me this first try:

Sure you'll find plenty that are just Weird Al or Buffy the Vampire Slayer's face, but there is a lot of cool shit in there. They're all interactable as well. Look at it and know that this is what itunes, spotify, etc took from you. I still wish I could find the coolest visualizer I lost nearly 25 years ago in an HDD crash.
Even Apple in that era took risks on hardware. I took out my old eMac from storage and I'm surprised how futuristic the design still feels despite it being a CRT behemoth, and I like the look and feel of older OSX with the Aqua design, feels more natural than the iOS amalgamation they are trying to pull off.I miss the designs from the 90s and 2000s. These days, it’s all ugly art and mimic whatever Apple is trying to do.
God I fucking miss Windows 7 so much![]()
