The Ghost Stories thing is a different story than this. Ghost Stories was sold at a loss to ADV, and they pretty much told them to do whatever they could but had to keep some things in tact. Of course, we got what we have today, but the realest reason why Ghost Stories was dubbed like that was basically because there was nothing else being dubbed at the time, and they had this. The "standard by the book series" was absolutely HATED by Japan. In reality, while I do find it funny and see this as outtakes of outtakes (except for DBZ Audio Drama) this is mostly petty, unless you see it as "these people are hypocrites for saying slurs and condemning someone else for saying slurs." It's not cancel culture if you're just pointing out things.
Rumors have gone around that the voice of Trunks had to do the "THIS MAN ISN'T BLACK" line many times because of him laughing too hard and trying too hard to get through it.
