Ok, with the World cup coming up, I figured now would be the perfect time to give group predictions and overall thoughts

Favorites-
Brazil- Too much talent and team cohesion to not be considered a top team. If you were to bet on a team that could break down opposing defenses, this is one of them
Argentina- Having Messi not needing to literally carry you to the finals like in 2014 and 2018 makes them so much better. They also haven't lost a match in a while. Helps to go into these big games knowing you are constantly winners
France- Insanely talented along with a man manager to try and avoid another 2010 situation. But the Euros and the curse of the previous World Cup winners crashing out in the group stages hangs over their head

Outside chance but don't sleep on them
Spain- A young but very talented team. Luis Enrique has the team pissing off most of Spain yet he manages to win games. This team also came down to penalties with italy in the semi finals of the euros.
Germany- Never doubt the German machine. Even while all feels hopeless, they find a way to push through

Dark horses
Belgium- The team has very low expectations. I mean, they lost to Egypt in their warm up before going to Qatar. But De Bruyne is playing amazing, Courtois is probably the best keeper in the world, Lukaku usually shows up for Belgium in big ways, and no idea what Eden Hazard can bring. All the makings of a dark horse
Holland- Solid defense, some tricky attackers, a cohesive team with a style that everyone knows, and a manager who has delusional levels of belief. Def have a good shot here
Uruguay- A lot of talent that people don't realize are on the squad. Its Suarez and Cavani's last attempt to do anything and that worked well in 2010 with Forlan. Araujo, Gimenez, Olivera, Vina, Torreira, Ugarte, Valverde, Vecino, Pellistri, and Nunez are all top players that can really hit you without you realizing how good they can be

I added my predictions, though I don't know anything about some of these teems like Mexico and Uruguay. I also would like to predict Brazil as the final winner.

I will point out only 2 predictions I am not a fan of. Cameroon I don't think is that good. And Mexico always play 4 games at the world cup. No more, no less. They keep chasing the mythical 5th game

True, I only chose the Cameron on a hunch after I remembered that Shaqiri was lately playing in America and is kinda washed up, and I don't know anything else about the swiz team.

WTF that's actually true

Benzema will miss the World Cup with a quad injury. They'll still get out of their group but it's not looking good for France at the moment.

Its one of the best world cup memes out there lol

unironically I think this will help them out. France have so much talent behind the center forward role that they just need someone who can be a hold up forward to help connect play and then be ready for a tap in. Giroud was everything they needed in 2018. I can't see benzema doing that, despite how good he is

idk, I was high on France coming into the tournament but in the last 5 days they've lost Benzema and Nkunku which I think really hurts their attack. There's no way Griezmann has 90 minutes in his legs but I reckon he'll be starting along with Mbappe and Giroud, who is actually in good form atm to give him credit.

Then you have the midfield which just isn't as good as it was 4 years ago when Pogba and Kante were at the top of their game. Maybe the kids from Madrid will step up but those are big shoes to fill. They're still solid defensively but I don't think they'll stick around for long in the knockout stages.

I watched the whole opening ceremony and the German commentator didn't get tired explaining how controversial this whole thing is and how evil Qatar is.
Now I can watch a talk between sports journos and human rights activists completely shitting on everything I just saw and getting explained again how evil Qatar is.
They will do this for the whole world cup.
They won't stop crying and virtue signaling.

Please pray for me football bro's :(

From the replays, that was a soft penalty Ecuador was awarded, so the corruption evened out I would say. And Qatar fucked up a good chance at the end of the first half to cut into Ecuador's lead.
