(Only saw Canada during their match against Belgium and thought they weren't that bad. 0:1 at a WC against Belgium isn't something to be ashamed of. But Croatia should be in every timeline the favourite against leafland. That's why I was surprised about their lead (missed the first ~15min))
 
Say what you will about Germany's poor start, this is the one I was looking forward to most after the draw. Germany is setting up with their strongest 3 man midfield and Musiala as a winger. I predict an entertaining 2-2 draw.

I also predict Uruguay will beat Portugal tomorrow but that's not much of a hot take.

Wew lads, what a game. Germany needs to stick with that 3 man midfield and start Sane and I think they could make a run.

Good game from Musiala but he needs to score from here if he's not setting up his team mate with a tap in.

nah, keep him out! just play Füllkrug infront an Müller on gnabrys position. a real striker just opens up so much room and müller always has some ideas.

You can't deny Sane was causing havoc once he was subbed on tho. He set up Musiala with what should have been the equalizer and his pace can open things up a bit as well. But maybe he is better coming off the bench.

I'd give France the slight edge for now until we see how Neymar looks when he gets back.

It will end like 2018 when Germany had a fighting chance after beating Sweden only to be kicked out by South Korea. Or Anime wins over the Spanish Inquisiton

He is a good player, but he isnt as insane as müller or as talented as musiala and you just need a true striker infront to make some room and score some goals.
also that whole play was worthless because musiala didnt pass to Füllkrug.

Who would have unironically said before the WC that Group E will be still exciting on the last matchday? And that you can lose your opening game 7:0 and still have a chance to move forward?

1. Spain 4 pts +7
2. Japan 4 pts +/- 0
3. Costa Rica 3 pts -6
4. Germany 1 pt -1

If Costa Rica wins against Germany they move on, no matter how Spain - Japan ends.

Germany must win to have a chance. But:
1) no draw allowed between Spain - Japan bc if it would be a draw both would have 5 pts and move on.
2) If Japan should win Germany would need at least a 9:0 victory to move on bc they would need to have 1 goal more than Spain.
3) If Spain wins Germany would need to win at least 2:0 to beat Japan on goals to move forward.

Spain isn't allowed to lose as long as Germany - Costa Rica is a draw and Germany doesn't smash CR with 8+ goals difference.
A draw would mean CR and Spain would then have both 4 pts but Spain would move forward bc of the better goal difference.

And both Spain and Germany could get kicked out if CR and Japan both win their 3rd game.
