Hardly a super-league if 80 clubs are there, even a championship team like Burnley is in UEFA's top 80

Of what I have read in the meanwhile it seems like they are not going for a super-league but for several divisions. Like Super League 1, Super League 2, Super League 3 and teams do get split-up to the different leagues based on their achiviements in their respective national league. Which basically means they are copying Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. Which lets me ask why then even have that whole Super League system. The only motivation here I can see is to completely cut out UEFA from the money and TV rights. Which means it will never happened bc UEFA -and probably FIFA- might sue the shit out of the Super League.

Are they proposing this to take over the Champion’s League and Europa League? Because I don’t think many top teams have space in their calendars for more games per season. I also don’t see UEFA giving up the Champion’s League without a fight. Čeferin seems like he actually cares about the integrity of football and giving small teams a chance to succeed.

I haven't read or heard anything where they explicitly said that but it's the only thing that would make sense - and that's where I don't see UEFA to play along.

This whole Super League thing looks like bollocks, especially after the UEFA raised the prize money and got more teams added which means more matches which means more income through TV rights.

Seems like they still want to get this European Super League idea off the ground.

This just reeks of desperation. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, and other Italian teams use to be the top of the pecking order financially and could snatch top talent across the world. The premier league was occasionally there but there wasn't much to stop it. Then the Premier League decided to make their league basically free to the US and did a revenue splitting program to make their league competitive and popular. They let that cook for about 15-20 years and now they are the highest paying clubs for wages and transfer fees. But these other clubs couldn't cope with the fact that the only way to potentially compete would be for Barca and Real Madrid to split revenues with Girona. They decided to go down the route of their own TV and trying to starve out the rest of Spain. And now they have no other way to raise funds after being selfish for 20 years. Now they need to either try and build the entire league to perhaps compete with the premier league in a few years or try and create these spin off leagues to try and break up the premier league. And the premier league isn't going to break off for some bullshit like this

Euro sides have been seething because it exposed how reliant la liga was on the pull of Messi, Ronaldo and to a lesser Neymar. Now theyre gone most 3rd world fans couldnt give a shit about Eibar vs Vigo. The Premier League got good TV deals in place and those companies got good 3rd party deals. They got good advertising, good picture quality and knew how to create drama.

Mexico has appointed the Tigres manager as their new sacrificial lamb as to why they suck and Thiago silva has extended his contract since he is the only good defender apparently

There's no drama what so ever in La Liga. Could you imagine the drama if Real Madrid was ever in the mud like Arsenal was the past few years, and if at ANY point in the season, those fuckers were dead last in the league table?
None of the big clubs in the other top 4 leagues outside of Juve will ever be in a relegation battle. And none of the smaller teams outside of France will ever have a shot of winning the league

Would you argue today as an Arsenal choke or Brentford's formation shift being the tactical change needed to keep them at bay? Bee's now go 10 games unbeaten and clash with Palace need weekend. No doubt fans (myself included) will be thankful that Palace is the only remaining game of the month, considering Toney's minor injury. Hopefully nothing major considering his form. Meanwhile Arsenal have City midweek, followed by Villa away on Saturday.

Spurs on the other hand continue to choke the chase for a Champions League spot with a 4-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Arsenal choke. They are falling apart right at the worst time to lose the premier league and they will probably end up in like 3rd or 4th depending on how they bounce back after being knocked out of the Europa League

Turns out buying a new squad doesn't work no matter how much more money you spend on it. Nottingham Forrest but with an extra 0 didn't work out
TBoehlz is going to be regretting some of these singings when they go full Phil Jones and spend their entire 8year contract on the bench.

He will regret some of them but I don't think it will be to as massive an extent as Phil Jones levels. They aren't on a massive weekly salary so the potential to offload them after year 6 is there. Also loan deals with them going out won't hurt as much as the Lukaku one with the lower wages over more years strategy since they would only have to cover a smaller percentage of the loans. I think the reason that no other club outside of relegation fighters have bought this many players is because no other club needed to. The UK cucking chelsea out last year and forcing Abromovich to sell really fucked with their roster and not being able to do much with signing new players or properly scouting since they were bought at the literal end of May. They are still scrambling to save a team that was gutted. And I honestly think without spending these hundreds of millions on players, they would be close to fighting relegation

That isn't anything new at this point since 2003.

The 2002 and 2004 wins were because of strong willed characters.

Wenger refused to get a replacement for Viera and it's the same story ever since.

No mental strength of any kind.

If it’s between City, Arsenal and United for the title I’m hoping for an Arsenal win purely based on them being the lesser evil. I fucking hate United and don’t want to see Oil City win 2 years in a row. Would be nice if someone like Brighton or Newcastle made a late run but that’s nothing but a daydream.

Arsenal winning would be great just because of the shit storm it would cause. (Not because I am an arsenal fan of course lol)

But the fact that United would be coping about finishing second or third and saying Ten Hag has changed things around only to find out he isn't good once Casemiro and Ericksen have age catch up with them. City would struggle to rebuild their team after a year or two with their midfield core aging out of their prime and now every financial move is being monitored by the world.

Newcastle are probably still punching above their weight unfortunately. These bad results (and they are bad results) show that they have a solid defense to work with but they still don't have an attacking power to fully compete yet. But with champions league and money to offer next year, they can probably attract better attacking players. I would think Newcastle challenge next year

Thats some top tier ABU cope, the fact this time last year United were being repeatedly shit on due to languishing under a certain Austrian fraud to where they are now is an incredible turn around. Arsenal surrendering a 5 point lead is a major choke for how much theyve spent and been hyped up (still not as impressive as bin dippers surrendering a 10pt lead in 2019)
