Well the match against Uruguay is must win for the USA now lol. Unless Bolivia beat Panama, which would be hilarious. Then a draw is ok.
 
I'm here to share with all of you that one of the main things non-Spanish speakers are losing on is seeing the absolute cope Mexico is going through rn (or really any time they have a match against CONMEBOL since 2011).

Mexican media was going on and on about how Mexico had the means to go to semis (last time was 2007) and they were in an easy group. Mexican diehards always resort to bringing up the economy whenever they get eliminated (since they are marginally better than the rest of LATAM and sudacas end in Mexico when they can't get to the States) but they never mention that the Mexican peso is missing two zeros (haha, dos a cero) and that their entire economy depends on remittances sent by braceros. They used to say that only Brazil and Argentina were better in America, which has become the most unfortunate jinx (mufa) in football since England declaring they are going to win a tournament this time.

I'm granting you this knowledge on the spirit of giving you ammo any time you see a salty Mexican (a margarita, so to speak). I bestow upon thee Angloids and Scheisse Sprechers EL FOROBARDO.

I would definitely be happy if we beat a very good Uruguay in a competitive match. But if we lose, Berhalter absolutely has to go. I always say he's the luckiest dope alive though.
 
If Brazil doesn't beat Paraguay tonight by at least 3, say goodbye to their chances. Colombia is legit, and Argentina and Uruguay will fucking trounce and pounce on us.

I saw a clip from Fox Sports where after Italy's late goal, Landon Donovan says "the last player you'd expect to carry the ball forward and make a key pass....Calafiori". I get that he probably isn't up to date with the up and coming Serie A players but Calafiori was doing that for the whole game that he was apparently commentating on. What a disaster.
 
Is South American football always this rough and physical? A Brazilian player had his arm around the neck of the opposition and didn’t even get a yellow card. Every game I’ve watched has had a brawl. I’m liking it.

Yeah I actively avoid any american announcers when I can. They are just terrible. Unless they are the play by play guy paired with a good color commentator

Nigga, are you kidding? Copa Libertadores makes National team play looks like a joke.

This video I watched live, last match of the year, basically who loses is RELEGATED (one of the worst sensations ever), Fluminense wins and saves itself (at some point they had 99% to be relegated). Coritiba in the other hand, this year was their 100th anniversary. Coritiba loses and hell breaks lose


Santos was relegated for the first time last year and guess what happens?


South americans take football very seriously, even more when things aren't going well.

And this isn't even talking about Torcidas Organizadas, where you have to understand who are your allies and who isn't so you can be sure when going to the stadium.

I still remember waking up to see my father's fave beaten up because he stepped on a X team while using a Y team.

And the lower leagues you go, people get more intense since it is their friends/neighboor team




Also finally Brazil won and it wasn't embarassing to watch, even more when Paraguay parks the bus so hard it is mostly 0x0

Most of these mini docs have english subtitles so you can understand how things are here.


In Brasileirão for example, teams have two fronts of battle: to win and to not be relegated, and most of the times, the relegation battle is more intense and full of soul, 2023 battle was amazing.

As for the violence: people die, Torcidas Organizadas are more like the hooligans of thr english football in the 90's, where they make traps for other teams supporters in order to beat them up, in some cases where it got so bad, you can only have one team supporters in the stadium because of constant fighting, they have their different policies, they have informants all around the country that when a player is out partying, they send a squad of supporters to scare him off.

South American football culture is like a different world from reality, normal people are scared to go at the games and at the same time, they only go when they are defended by their organizadas who makes them safer by protecting them. It is fucking weird to explain.

I dont believe american sports have the same kind of superfans like football does, I never saw a news of someone dying over a sports game brawl, even more when they had similar population.

I’m not American but my country has a sport only played here and all the supporters are really nice to eachother, makes me sick.

I wish they didn't play this rivalry so much. Every friendly, every preseason tournament always has them playing each other. Just let them match up in the season and in the cup so we get these kind of games. When it was more rare, it was a better rivalry than El Classico back in the day
