A few twists in the tale of Canada's female olympic football team.
Basically, their group was shitty enough for them to overcome the 6 point deduction via winning all 3 of their matches anyways. However, this led to them being in second place instead of first, so they faced Germany in the quarterfinals. There, Germany eliminated the leafs via penalty kicks.

Germany's next opponents? USA. Time for some people on twitter to suddenly care about the US Women's team again 8)

Do we have West Ham fans in the thread? Curious about their opinion about the Füllkrug deal.
Hello

Im quietly optimistic about Fullkrug, since we as a club are notorious for bad striker transfers, even of good players (see Haller)
Part of the problem was Moyes, who never really favoured the creative sort and liked workhorses like Antonio. A big man in the box style may fair better.
I haven't really followed Loptegui's preseason either to know what he expects of strikers, aside from knowing results are poor but >pre season friendlies.

Its honestly weird seeing us have depth, Moyes won a trophy with a team with like 16 players so im not used to the options

Update on women's football:
Brazil vs USA is the gold medal match, august 10
Spain vs Germany is the silver medal match, august 9

Update on the shitshow with Colombian football federation (FCF) president, Ramon Jesurun. Last post on this:
Okay, I see you guys know about the pre-match shitshow at the Copa America final.
What really spiced things up now is that Ramon Jesurun, the president of the Colombian football federation (FCF) was arrested in that clusterfuck. Same with his son.

Translated title: Ramon Jesurun handcuffed and in orange uniform: that's how the president of the FCF appeared in front of a judge in Miami

Title: The millionaire fine that Jesurun could pay for his altercation with Miami authorities
Now:

‘You're ending my career': Bodycam shows head of Colombian Football Federation arrested at Copa America

In another video, Ramón Jesurún Sr. and his son, Ramón Jesurún Jr., can be seen sitting handcuffed after Colombia’s loss to Argentina
Both men face charges of battery on a specified official/employee, and Jesurún Jr. faces an additional charge of misdemeanor battery. They have a hearing set for Aug. 14.

I was so excited going into today. New season! New players! Squad with more depth than a puddle! HMS Piss The League memes all over our messageboards!

We were shit and we lost.

I need a drink. I fucking hate football.

See you next week.

If you're referring to the Community Shield we legit played better 🤷‍♂️ tough luck having to put a winger as RB due to injuries which gave City the equaliser

SOS Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle. There was more empty space in that defence than there is in ADF’s head. Horrifying game to watch.
Eventually people are going to realize he isn't a good manager. Just like Lampard and Gerrard, they all have the curse of being a good player in management. They are trying to get players to see the game how they saw the game back when they played but you can't do that. These guys were international players at the top of the game, and you are coaching guys in league 1. You can't relate

Heard the story in a podcast. RCD Espanyol managed to get back to La Liga again. They had Martin Braithwaite in their squad last season who was their best scorer with 22 goals. When Espanyol got relegated to the 2nd Spanish division he wanted to leave Espanyol and join another La Liga club so he can improve his chances to get nominated for the Danish national team for the Euro Cup in Germany but Espanyol said "No". So he stayed with them and everything seemed fine. Well, allegedly. Because after they got relegated Espanyol allowed him to leave and Olympiakos in Greece was interested in him. He did the medical check and some interviews but then cancelled the transfer last minute and denied any new contract from Espanyol so he could join for free any club. He then joined Gremio in Brasil and shit on the club officials in interviews and is now talking about buying Espanyol out of revenge for his treatment bc as it turns out Braithwaite is one of the richest football players in the world and Espanyol is worth shit.

How're you feeling about getting both Todibo and Wan-Bisakka for your defence? Seems like really good business from WH.

Honestly felt the same, we seemed to do way better than I thought we would (although City were missing some important players), and can't really complain on how we handled the majority of the game. Hopefully getting Mazraoui now means we have some comfortable cover for Dalot and never have to see Pellestri there ever again.

I'm just excited to see whether we line up with a Martinez/De Ligt partnership at CB, or if they go for Yoro/De Ligt with Martinez at LB when Shaw ultimately gets injured.

Yeah, honestly we really fluffed our chances that game lol
