How're you feeling about getting both Todibo and Wan-Bisakka for your defence? Seems like really good business from WH.
Its really good business. Wan-Bissaka for 15m in particular is insane. He's 26 and english, in todays climate a player like that isnt below 25 minimum. Coufal's fairly old and Johnson leaving left us with a need there. Hopefully all this defensive reinforcement shores up the mess we were last season

A shame Zouma is on his way out but unfortunately we'll never get his best again, that knee injury has forever limited him. No surprise he failed his medical for that arab club (probably can make a CAT scan joke of that)

Heard the story in a podcast. RCD Espanyol managed to get back to La Liga again. They had Martin Braithwaite in their squad last season who was their best scorer with 22 goals. When Espanyol got relegated to the 2nd Spanish division he wanted to leave Espanyol and join another La Liga club so he can improve his chances to get nominated for the Danish national team for the Euro Cup in Germany but Espanyol said "No". So he stayed with them and everything seemed fine. Well, allegedly. Because after they got relegated Espanyol allowed him to leave and Olympiakos in Greece was interested in him. He did the medical check and some interviews but then cancelled the transfer last minute and denied any new contract from Espanyol so he could join for free any club. He then joined Gremio in Brasil and shit on the club officials in interviews and is now talking about buying Espanyol out of revenge for his treatment bc as it turns out Braithwaite is one of the richest football players in the world and Espanyol is worth shit.
What a great middle finger to a club that tried to fuck him over like that.

FC Bayern selling de Ligt is such a fucking retard move.
Why? They have Eric Dier lol

I wonder why one of these clubs is doing much better than the other

I feel like there have been very few transfers this window but I think its because all the big ones were either agreed on between the parties prior to the window or the rumors overshadowed them. Anyways, I will try and do a big breakdown after the window closes on August 30th

We've still got 16/17 day's ish left. Plenty of time for Peter Odemwingie to turn up.

I mean that's definitely part of it (and on a related note rumors are City's hearing for their 115 charges is finally happening next month) but part of it is City seem to have actually had at least a vague plan with their transfers while United seem to have relied on slinging money around and hoping for the best.
City pretty much did what United are currently doing now by appointing the right people and having the backroom staff in place just prior to Pep's start. Business-wise they've been really fucking good. They don't jump at high profile names (some guys like Haaland and Grealish are probably the exceptions) and manage to offload players when the timing is right and without going into a panic on their replacement.

United have been run so poorly since SAF retired and had no structure or long term plan in place. The end result has been an amalgamation of different managers ideas and failures, and thankfully now it seems like the structure under INEOS is actually working and recruitment is on point for once. Shame it took so fucking long though while City have been reaping the rewards of their competence.

This is much easier than being in charge of a club team though. If we just win a couple knockout matches in 2026 (there's a round of 32 now lol) he's a success. He'll probably be gone after that anyway.

>letting his spursy taint touch you
It's over
While the idea of having a spursy manager is normally frightening, you don't understand the type of managers the US is use to. The USMNT has been plagued by a majority of managers who did well in MLS and try to carry that out at an international level. The 2 best managers over the past 20 years has been Klinsmann and Bob Bradley. Bob Bradley got run out of a relegated premier team in less than 3 months and Klinsmann just fell apart after his stint in the US. Poch is way better than anything we could have gotten and I was worried that some MLS guy was going to take over. Or even worse, Bruce Arena returning

I was actually thinking the other day I’ve missed your transfer write-ups this pre-season. We’ve been decent on incomings with a few more planned I believe. Hoping we can also get rid of some dead weight too in addition to losing Olise, which was inevitable unfortunately.
