Some interesting news to update on

Griezmann has retired from international football. Dude appeared almost as much as a really good goalkeeper for an average country.

Cardiff City, Swansea, Wrexham, and Newport County have applied to participate in the Welsh Cup. This is an interesting turn of events. There are 2 different ways this could play out.
Bad outcome- The Welsh FA decides they don't want to allow these teams to participate (and win) the Welsh cup. Those 4 teams continue to perform mediocrely in the second, third, fourth, and fifth tiers of English Football while Wales continues to suck ass.
Good outcome- The Welsh FA allows them to participate under certain conditions (since they have a lot of pull here). Their best way to improve as a country is to make a rule that teams in their cup competition must have X number of welsh players or who have played x number of years in a welsh club's academy. This gives Wales a chance to get better developed players for their national team and would probably get a high Uefa co-efficiency because Swansea or Cardiff (and eventually Wrexham) will go further than the best Welsh teams would while those other clubs can take advantage of European money that they would never get access to otherwise. Could be a win win

Champions League matchday 2

Today are the following matches with my predictions in brackets:
RB Salzburg - Stade Brest (draw) Brest played two Austrian teams in a row and won both matches. Embarrassing display, Austria.
Stuttgart - Sparta Praha (Suttgart is hit or miss right now. They either struggle hard and then pull off a Leverkusen in the last moments of the match or they dominate their opponent. Ask Dortmund how it went for them. It's either 6:1 or 3:3) 1:1 but I'll award me a point nevertheless.
Dortmund - Celtic (win Dortmund) Jesus fucking Christ.
Eindhoven - Sporting (draw) 1:1
Bratislava - Man City (Haaland 1 zillion goal show) Well, fuck Haaland I guess but ...
Barcelona - Young Boys (thanks to ter Stegen's injury and the Barca defence rolling dices to determine how they wanna perform it's going to be a wild draw) 5:0 lol
Inter - Red Star (win Inter)
And two banger matches with Leverkusen vs AC Milan (win Leverkusen in the 98th minute) and Arsenal vs PSG (win PSG) Not mad that I got this wrong.

Tomorrow it's
Donezk - Atalanta (win Atalanta)
Girona - Feyernoord (win Feyernoord or the Feyernoord hools burn down Girona stadion)
Sturm Graz - Brügge (win Brügge; this match smells like at least two red cards going to happen)
Dinamo - Monaco (win Monaco)
Liverpool - Bologna (win Liverpool)
LOSC - Real (win VARdrid)
Benfica - Atletico Madrid (win Atletico)
Aston Villa - Bayern Munich (win Bayern)
RB Leipzig - Juventus (don't fucking disappoint me Juve; we will see at least 5 goals)

LOSC - Real (win VARdrid) Again, I'm not mad that I got this wrong.
Benfica - Atletico Madrid (win Atletico) 4:0. Wtf Atletico. Wtf?!

Aston Villa - Bayern Munich (win Bayern) 1:0

The last time Aston and Bayern met in Champions League was in 1982. In the final. That Villa won 1:0.
It's 42 years later and they did it again and fun fact, they ended Bayern's 41 unbeaten streak in champions league group stage matches. I switched to the Juve game tho after the 1st half time ...

RB Leipzig - Juventus (don't fucking disappoint me Juve; we will see at least 5 goals)

... and holy shit. Juventus' goal keeper saw a red card bc he played the ball with the hand outside the box. So Leipzig got a freekick and Juve caught a penalty bc a Juve player cleared the free kick with his hand :story:
So it was 2:1 then but Juve actually didn't disappoint and turned the match around and won 2:3.

Today all the German journo and sports influencer scum was crying about the new champions league format bc hurr durr the matches aren't exciting bigger teams are dominating smaller teams reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bc Man City, Barcelona and Dortmund (and Bayern in their first match) mopped the floor with their opponents. Now we have seen PSG, Bayern and Madrid already lose a match. Brest, one of the smaller teams, won 2 out 2 matches. Only match tonight where a team won with 2 or more goals was Benfica vs Atletico. AC Milano has lost both of their games.
I fucking hate journos and influencers especially.

Being a Man Utd fan is almost great again. I can pretty much get tickets to every home game.
For the few I can't just apply for, I've got connections who can usually pull through.
I can't wait for the fanboys to fuck off completely and fill up the Etihad
0-0 V Villa (A)
Glory Glory Man Utd! Glory Glory Man Utd! Glory Glory Man Utd!...and the reds go marching on on on!

Blessings upon Erik Ten Hag. May he reign long,

Glad to see after 2 weeks the best teams in Europe are
Dortmund

Lost to Union Berlin this matchday.

Leverkusen

Only played 2:2 against the newbie Holstein Kiel. Who are 17th in a league with 18 teams.

We had some clown show in 2. Bundesliga today in the match between Magdeburg and Fürth. In thefirst halftime Fürth's goalkeeper caught the ball and rolled it over to one of his defenders. Who immediately had some huge brain fart bc he picked up the ball with his hands bc he thought the ball was outside and his goalkeeper wants him to handle to goal kick. So Magdeburg got a penalty. Funnily enough later in the first half one Magdeburg player made a similiar mistake where he picked up the ball with his hands which lead to a penalty for Fürth. I have never ever seen anything stupid like this in football. Like how can this happen twice in a match?

And bc there wasn't a Harry Kane update in a long time: He isn't top scorer at the moment.

And he isn't our overall top scorer too.

Nature is finally healing.

Tbf, Derby almost died because they put Rooney in charge of their club. And you guys aren't exactly in a healthy position either
I remember when QPR rehearsed an attempt to step up their game and compete toe-to-toe with the Premier League big boys... by hiring past-their-prime people like Bosingwa and Park Ji-sung (or some other Korean guy), and being coached by 'Appy 'Arry Redknapp. Needless to say, it failed.

Everybody there but the owners knew what was happening. A higher wage bill than dortmund who made the CL finals btw lmao. The news surrounding this club from the early 2000s to the early 2010s was always batshit, like the director receiving gun threats. I miss this era compared to the malaise now honestly.

Idk who started this tradition of over paying for players who aren’t good enough to play in most mid table teams in the hope of dominating the premier league but the spirit remains strong in Nottingham Forest

Finally, /sp/ comes through with some informative stuff. Basically, it all started when a Colombian ESPN journo made a joke referring to some gay shennanigans. I figured it was just a sex joke ("is he a top or a bottom?" is the joke in the clip below), but no, there's a rabbit hole with Colombian refereeing and literal gay parties.
:optimistic:

Where the ball got rolling in the /copalib/ general:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA ALL REFS IN COLOMBIA ARE FUCKING FAGGOTs

Anon replies:
They wont understand it here and I dont want to explain it.
Also nothing happened with that, Oscar is still working with referees, Imer is the head of the table now and the guys that snitched are blacklisted from refeering.
Fuckin hate that shithole
An argentine anon asks if the refs are actually gay. American anon replies:
Maybe they are maybe they arent
But if you wanted to get the FIFA license to officiate FIFA games you had to spend some days at Oscar Julian Ruiz appartment.
Roldan did it.
Not even joking (Wish I was, its funny but it trully makes me sick)
Police and militaries have the same modus operandi
An argentine anon dug through some articles via AI, and jesus, the details. Remember, this shit ultimately went nowhere due to lack of evidence.

>Ímer Machado, Óscar Julián Ruiz, Harold Perilla: these are the most notorious cases of sexual harassment in Colombian refereeing.
>Several names have been implicated by the statements of Harold Perilla, a former referee who has been responsible for exposing the abuses he experienced during his time as a football official.

>Harold Perilla, a former referee, has made numerous accusations of sexual harassment, threats, and corruption within the Colombian refereeing system. These allegations have implicated several high-profile referees, including Óscar Julián Ruiz and Ímer Machado.

>Regarding Wilmar Roldán, Perilla claims that Roldán spent numerous weekends at Ruiz's house for 6 years, since he was 18 or 19. There were allegedly inappropriate parties with disguises (drag queen shit). Roldán supposedly knows a lot, and that's why he is quiet about this.

> Perilla alleges that Roldán and Nicolás Gallo were close allies and that Gallo had also been subjected to harassment by Óscar Julián Ruiz. Also, Perilla accuses Ruiz of unfairly promoting Andrés Rojas, suggesting that sexual favors were involved.
>FIFA investigations: Both Óscar Julián Ruiz and Ímer Machado have been investigated by FIFA for similar allegations.
>Challenges in pursuing justice: Despite the serious nature of the allegations, victims often face significant challenges in proving their claims, as evidenced by the closure of some investigations due to lack of evidence.
Title: Óscar Julián Ruiz explica lo de la supuesta 'jaula de las locas' del arbitraje colombiano
Oscar Julian Ruiz explains colombian refereeing's supposed "cage of the crazy"

>"La jaula de las locas" (The cage of the crazy): This is a reference to the popular musical comedy of the same name, often associated with drag queens and a flamboyant lifestyle. In the context of the article, it's used as a metaphor to describe alleged sexual misconduct and a party culture within Colombian refereeing, as suggested by the accusations against Óscar Julián Ruiz.

>The Llanero referee says that there was never a party of referees in which they dressed up as transvestites or women, and he responds to the former professional referee Jorge Hernán Hoyos.

>The article is about allegations made by former Colombian referee Jorge Hernán Hoyos against Óscar Julián Ruiz and the current state of refereeing in Colombia.
>Hoyos claimed that he was removed from his role as a referee due to a homophobic conspiracy within Colombian refereeing, alleging that those in power were homosexual and discriminated against him for not being gay.

>Óscar Julián Ruiz, a prominent figure in Colombian refereeing, strongly denies these allegations. He counters Hoyos' claims by stating:
>Homophobia is unacceptable: Ruiz emphasizes the importance of respecting homosexual individuals and expresses shock at Hoyos' accusations.
>Political motivations: He suggests that Hoyos' allegations are politically motivated, possibly due to resentment towards the current leadership of Colombian football.
>False accusations about parties: Ruiz vehemently denies allegations of parties where referees dressed up as women, calling them "stupid" and "false."
>Respect for all: He appeals for respect for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, and calls for an end to discriminatory practices.

>2019
>The article is about a former Colombian referee, Óscar Ruiz, who was accused of sexual abuse by another former referee. The accuser Heiner Fabian Reyes Quevedo claims the abuse occurred when he was a minor. The abuse is alleged to have happened in 2005 and 2008. The accuser also claims that he was unable to progress in his refereeing career because of the abuse. This is not the first time the Ruiz has been accused of sexual abuse. Two other former referees have also accused him. Ruiz denies the accusations.

>Reyes Quevedo added in his complaint that his inability to progress in Colombian refereeing was due exclusively to a decision by Ruiz, who is currently a member of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) Referees Committee. 'He no longer served his purpose,' he stated in his complaint. And he added: 'All refereeing in Colombia moves according to the orders of Mr. Óscar Julián Ruiz Acosta.'
I remember reading about Óscar Julián Ruiz working with Real Madrid, teaching them about the changed rules of football. At least I hope that's all he's doing.
American anon left one more post
[Óscar] is working with Real Madrid explaining the rules to the players
Imer [Machado] is now the head of the table and is probably working the same way, he has some big farm, imagine the things that happen there
