DFB cup round of 16 time.

1st tier club Augsburg got away with a blue eye against 2nd tier club Karlsruhe as Augsburg won after penalties.
2nd tier club Regensburg got their ass handled by Stuttgart.
Werder Bremen only beat 2nd tier club Darmstadt with a goal in the last seconds of regular time.
Cologne vs Hertha Berlin was a wild match. After getting the 1:0 lead Berlin saw an early red card so they went into total defence mode. Cologne won 2:1 in the end after getting a penalty in the very last seconds of extra time.
RB Leipzig won 3:0 against Frankfurt so I'm fucking pissed.

And then there was the one surprise match. 3rd tier club Bielefeld beat Bundesliga club Freiburg 3:0.

Tuesday also saw FC Bayern against Bayer Leverkusen. It was Manuel Neuer's 866th match as a professional player. So he decided to write history and get his first red card ever. And Bayern lost. Again no trophy for Harry Kane :(

Oh, yeah, Wolfsburg vs Hoffenheim happened too but nobody cares.

Premier League Update:

Games of the week:
Newcastle United 3 - 3 Liverpool (Tuesday)
Best game of the season so far, guns blazing action football that could've been 6-6. Liverpool get a bittersweet point but struggled defensively after making changes, they look ahead to Everton in the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park with a solid 7 point lead.

Liverpool 2 - 0 Man City (Sunday)
Liverpool dominate a poor Man City side, only question was how it was only 2 - 0 by the end of it? 6 losses in 7 for Man City and no coincidence the poor form started after losing Rodri.

West Ham 2 - 5 Arsenal (Saturday)

7 goals in an excellent first half followed by a disappointing second half. Arsenal dominated using their usual high possession and set piece routines. West Ham were very poor despite a slight fight back in the first half and are cementing themselves in the bottom half.

Brentford 4 - 1 Leicester (Saturday)

It's official, Brentford are first in the table at home and worst in the table away. Schade and Wissa dominated Leicester who didn't help themselves with a few self inflicted wounds with poor defending and decision making. Can their new manager turn it around?

Summary of the week:
It's very early in the season so I don't expect the table to be so close by Christmas but it is unusual how close it is from 13th and 5th. Arsenal will be kicking themselves for dropping so many points earlier in the season after this Man City drop-off. It's Liverpool's league to lose right now but if they lose 2 games, which is very likely seeing how strong the mid-table is, then everything is back on the table. Teams like West Ham, Man Utd and Newcastle need to step it up and get a string of wins if they want Europe. West Ham need to really step it up for Europe or they will be in big financial issues and players wanting to leave considering all of the decent players they signed over Summer.

If you want to see a crazy table/league right now, look no further than Bundesliga ... 2....

8 points separate #1 Paderborn from #12 Nürnberg. 4 Points separate #2 from #12, and 2 points from #2 to #10. Heck, coming into last week, the Dino (formerly of the first flight HSV) had dropped some bad points, fired their coach, and were sitting in 7th. A win last week and some fortunate lost points higher up the table, and this week they're now sitting in second with an interim coach.

A lot has been talked about the second flight in Germany being one of the most entertaining leagues of football being played in Europe (not top flight quality, obviously, but it is generally entertaining and has compelling matches), though I wonder how much of that is the Bundesliga trying to drive up broadcast contract prices. That said, once again the league is a wild ride where, at least as we near the winter break, everything remains up for grabs and every game is going to matter. The drama of potential relegation but also promotion does add another layer to things.

HSV probably deserves their own deep dive for a mismanaged organization, maybe up there with the Sechzger (now in the third league).

While the Championship has a greater quality of football and more money, Bundesliga 2 is one of the most entertaining leagues in the world. The fans in the stands and the way they play football is a throwback to the 90s. Some giant teams in there too. Hell the whole of German football is a throwback to when fans had more control and proper support with ultras, huge banners and flares.

Pep wanted to fight a liverpool fan in the street last night

Ange got a lot of abuse after losing to Bournemouth

Wolves manager got booed and chants to sack him

Reports of the West Ham manager and a player getting in a fight in the dressing room when 5-2 down at half-time.
West Ham fans were beating up Arsenal fans in the home end with punches thrown.

What a glorious past few days.

Edit: I just checked and apparently the player that had a fight was Todibo. West Ham have him on loan and are obligated to buy him for £40 million in the Summer

On Sunday it is the most fun day for Brasileirão fans: the last round.

And we can have something magical: if Red Bull Bragantino wins against the already relegated Criciúma. They will either:

-relegate the current Vice Champion of Libertadores and Copa do Brasil (Atlético Mineiro)
-relegate the 2023 Champion of Libertadores (Fluminense)
-relegate the 2022 Vice Champion of Libertadores (Athletico Paranaense) (it is also their 100th birthday, which is funny because 14 years ago, their biggest rival was also relegated in a situation where Fluminense was also saved in the last round and they chanted as they went apeshit: "cry sucker, got relegated in their 100th birthday" in a shitty translation.

All RB bragantino have to do is win, they can't tie at all, why?

Because destiny is a motherfucking bitch:
The games are:
- RB Bragantino vs Criciúma
- Atlético mineiro vs Athletico Paranaense
- Palmeiras vs Fluminense

And Palmeiras still has a chance of the title in the last round. You have a direct match with two atléticos and one of the worst teams against the best.

But RB Bragantino cant fucking lose, this very funny situation can only kill one big club, but they must win at all costs.

And the better part: all games will be played around the same time, so no possibilities of combining results.

Literal insanity if Bragantino wins:

- You could have two tourney finalists playing at B
- Fluminense playing against a fucking serie B Team then playing against Borussia Dortumund next week (fucking lol)
-being relegated at their 100th birthday just like their biggest rivals 14 years ago

Pure kino, please let any of these 3 options happen.

And we wont get rid because Sullivan is a fucking tight cunt

>ignores his Technical Director and hires some guy an agent mate told him to because he's free
>turns out to be useless
Who'd have thought

If even half of what's come out about Loptegui is true, there's no way the current setup can continue
>Told Ward-Prowse he'd be a vicecaptain, then decided later to bin him off to Forest
>Demanded the club sign Guido Rodriguez, then have a falling out with him
>Had a falling out with Kudus and Areola as well
>Had a confrontation with Todibo halfway through the Arsenal game and allegedly needed to be separated. Some rumours even claim hands were thrown

I dont believe there was any physical altercation but I do believe that he has lost the dressing room (and by the sound of it, never really had it).

The concept of giving a manager a few games to save his job is retarded. If you've lost enough faith that you'd announce it, then just sack him and save the preamble. If you still had some faith they'd turn it around, announcing to the world isnt going to really help. But Sullivan is a tight retard who'll happily spunk millions on subpar players buy wont spend a penny on coaches

El Sackico (west hams second of the season) will be fun. Ive seen fans of both clubs desperate to lose.

Smiles in David Moyes

Smiles in David Moyes
Moyes' time was up and he at least got to leave without being sacked. Most goals conceded in a season ever by the team and 3 wins in 2024 is pretty untenable for literally any manager (the season of the conference league win was similarly dire). Playing defensive football where you concede a record amount isn't it

Apparently Sullivan had offered Moyes a new contract but rescinded it after the Arsenal loss, which cemented his decision to leave (on top of falling out with Steidten). We'll never get anywhere with the fat midget controlling the team

Next manager needs to bring Pablo Fornals home

Brasileirão has just finished and Botafogo deservedly won.
What an amazing plot, from last year's epic chokejob to earning both the domestic championship and the Libertadores this year. As an addendum, the final goal scored by Botafogo in today's match was by Grégore, the same guy that got expelled in the Libertadores finals before the 1 minute mark.

Fluminense managed to beat Palmeiras at their own home and gets to remain in the top flight. You can bet their fanbase clenched their sphincters so hard, not even 5G signals could pass through.

Atlético Mineiro have to be this year's biggest losers. They went to the finals of both Copa do Brasil and Libertadores in fairly good fashion, only to lose both of them. And they won't go to any international competitions next year.

The last relegated team turned out to be Athletico Paranaense. They too collapsed in painful fashion from the second semester onwards. The only solace they have is that they get to join their in-city rivals Coritiba in Série B.

Overall, it was a sweet year for club footy down here. Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna fucking mald over São Paulo raising my expectations and then toppling them down.

last year was better at the final round. Atleticos match was pure relegation juice but without any sugar

Did Santos get promoted?

Things continue to go swimmingly at Man U.
I hope the City point deductions get passed to Manchester United as well. This club is such a shit show that they deserve to be relegated at some point
