PSG v Arsenal (1-0 agg) predictions?

I'm going for a cheeky late equaliser by Arsenal only for PSG to dash them in the dying minutes and end it 2-1 overall.

Either this or two quick P$G goals and then borefest match bc Arsenal can't do shit and P$G doesn't need to do shit.

AFTV is going to be lit AF tonight. P$G vs Inter Milan is your Champions League final.
AFTV being the gift that keeps on giving. Here's them cheering for a penalty being given after claiming they got fouled, only to then realise it's actually been given to PSG for a handball:

This is Arteta's first job, and it's shown all the way through; his appointment was equivalent to hiring someone like Gerrard or Rooney back in 2019, except he's been given 10x the money and way more time than they did. He's wasted so much on the same positions and has close to no talent ID. His tactics are very primitive and the PR he has is spreading around the PRemier League, he needs to be sacked for the good of the league.

On the contrary, its great seeing his delusions while Arsenal continue to bottle everything forever

Just need spurs, united and chelsea to choke tonight and its a perfect week. Only one likely is tottenham unfortunately

So I haven't been in here that much this year because I've been caught up in other things so here's a few thoughts as we get to the end of the season:
  • I could maybe have seen Spurs or Man United having a freak season and finishing in the bottom half of the table but BOTH at the same time? And not even just barely in the bottom half but like sub 15th? Like they're both incredibly lucky that the relegated teams this year were completely dogshit and didn't have much fight to them or they'd genuinely be in contention for being relegated. Also, West Ham could do the funniest thing and leapfrog both of them come the end of the season.
  • I'm incredibly pissed off that Man City recovered and are on track to get Champions League qualification. They played like shit for a good portion of the season but somehow overcame it and look like they'll probably squeeze Newcastle out of the CL spots. My ideal top four would have been Liverpool, Arsenal, Forest and Newcastle but you can't have it all.
  • On that note, when the fuck are they going to announce the Man City ruling to say that they're getting wound up and the entire team, staff and dinner ladies are getting tied to a post and shot?
  • Once again Arsenal fuck it all up after pretending they're a title contender and my dream is for someone to overtake them so they can be third place in a two horse race, just like when Spurs became third in the two horse race against Leicester.
  • I'm really going to miss Leicester and Jamie Vardy, I know Vardy is leaving and will probably stay in the Premier League but it won't feel the same unless he remains the big fish in a little pond and joins Bournemouth or something. Seeing him play for Man United or Spurs would be hell.

Man United vs Tottenham in the Europa League final fellas.

That's what happens when you fuck up the entire group stage into something new but forget people still qualify for winning, no Champions League teams to stop an easy route to the final.

Anyone watching tonight? I heard their striker's a lump up top

There was a funny thing in MLS related. San Diego got an expansion team this year, and it's looking like a good chunk of the fanbase is Spanish speaking. That's not surprising, given the proximity to the border and the demographics. What is shocking to the management and presumably the box seat holders is some of the chants en Espanol.

The slur noted? Puto.
From chatgpt:
The word "puto" in Spanish has a long and complex history, and its meaning and connotation can vary widely depending on context, region, and tone. Here's a breakdown of its background:

🌐 General Meaning and Origins
Literal meaning: In many Spanish-speaking countries, "puto" is a derogatory slang term that originally referred to a male sex worker or someone perceived as submissive or weak.

Gendered insult: Over time, it evolved into a catch-all insult for someone considered cowardly, weak, or unmanly—often tied to homophobic connotations.

Etymology: It comes from Latin puttus, meaning "boy" or "young man," but its modern usage is very different and offensive in many contexts.

⚽ In Football (Soccer) Culture
Popularized chant: The term gained infamy due to its use by some Mexican soccer fans, who shout it in unison when an opposing goalkeeper takes a goal kick.

Origins in soccer: This chant reportedly started in the early 2000s in Mexican stadiums and was adopted as a taunt to intimidate or throw off goalkeepers.

🚨 Controversy and Sanctions
Perceived as homophobic: Though some fans argue it's "just part of the game" or a general insult, LGBTQ+ groups, FIFA, and other organizations have deemed it homophobic and discriminatory.

FIFA's response: Mexico's national team has received repeated fines, stadium bans, and even threats of points deductions due to the chant.

Education campaigns: Mexican football authorities have tried running anti-discrimination campaigns, and some leagues stop matches when the chant is heard.

📍 Cultural Debate
Defenders say: It's not "meant that way" and is just a general slur with no real homophobic intent.

Critics say: Intent doesn't erase impact, and the word contributes to a hostile environment for LGBTQ+ individuals.
It's especially funny since the club was doing a lot of outreach to the gay community (which is sizeable in SD), as well as the Mexican/Central/South American communities in the area. As I said in another thread today, a hell of their own choosing.

So with Tottenham and Manchester United making the finals of the Europa League while being 15th and 16th in the League, this will mean that 1/6th of the teams in the Champions League next year will be from England. Considering this new format was to prevent a super league, it seems to have failed. And with Chelsea in the finals of the Conference league and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, England will be sending a lot of teams to Europe next season, it would seem. But how exactly did the 15th and 16th best teams in England make it to a game that would let them enter the Champions League via the Europa League (something this competition wasn't able to do 12 years ago btw). Could it be blamed on competition? Well lets see who these teams had to beat from the R16 onwards (they both finished top 8 so they had a bye)
R16
Man U- Real Sociedad
Spurs- AZ Alkmaar
R8
Man U- Lyon
Spurs- Eintracht Frankfurt
R4
Man U- Bilbao
Spurs- Bodo/Glimt

Certainly United had to play some tougher competition. But I would venture it has something more to do with the fact that the format has changed. You might have noticed that there were 8 teams that *didn't* drop into the Europa League this year. If you think about who would have been the 8 teams that would have missed out on the R16 in Champions League this year based on group play (cut me a little slack with these teams since the league format is fucking awful) this would be Monaco, Brest, Feyenoord, Juventus, Celtic, Man City, Sporting, and Club Brugge. Pretty sure having those teams in the Europa League replacing Ferencvaros, Porto, AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, USG, PAOK, Twente, and Fenerbahce would have made the Europa League much more difficult. Likewise, those Europa League teams dropping down to the Conference League would have made that competition a little more challenging for Chelsea.

Just wanted to point this out, another reason that this format sucks ass. And if it continues like this for a few years, just expect teams from England to be significantly better than other teams in Europe in these lesser competitions due to the fact that the 6th and 7th best teams in England have significantly more resources than the 6th and 7th best teams in Spain, Germany, Italy, and France

Rumors are swirling that Bayern is going after Leverkusen's Wirtz (a 150 mil euro transfer fee approved by Bayer, supposedly locked in by Bayer), and Tah (on a free). Xavi goes off Real Madrid. Supposedly Bayern is trying to complete transfers before the Club World Cup next month. They've already done this with Bischoff (although he's coming from Hoffenheim).

Even on that pile of cash from a Wirtz sale, it's gonna be a rebuild year next year in Leverkusen. Bayern had best hope they move far in the CWC, with that much cash going out.

They already have Musiala, they are resigning Leroy Sane, they still have Gnabry, and they just signed Olise. Where is Wirtz going to fit in there?
