What exactly is wrong with Wirtz I thought he was a Golden Boy

Are we pro or anti international break? I kinda like it but it gets annoying no prem for a bit. Anyways hopefully Norway v Israel will be peak 10 goals from the neanderthal is my prediction
Multiple international breaks are better for player welfare than just doing it over summer, but jesus christ they really cause the start of the season to keep stuttering

Maybe dont have 3 in the first 10 gameweeks? UEFA and FIFA constantly expanding their comps doesnt help either, there really is no room in the calendar anymore

In general I'm for the break, but like @Shining Wit says, the current version is fucked, mostly because FIFA being greedy cunts.

Couple of stories I found interesting. Watford have sacked their new manager Pezzolano after just 10 games, bringing back Javi Gracia who took them to the FA cup final in 2019 (where they get fucking obliterated by City). The truly wild stat though:
Pezzolano, 42, was appointed in May following Watford's decision to sack Tom Cleverley, making him the club's 12th boss since Gracia's first spell ended in 2019.

Secondly the Malaysian FA are in the shit for falsifying documents to allow 7 foreigners to play under the grandfather rule, i.e. you can play for any country your parents/grandparents were born in: https://archive.ph/LJOB4
Earlier this year, FAM sent Fifa birth certificates showing that the grandparents of its seven players had been born in Malaysian cities like Penang and Malacca.

But Fifa said investigators obtained original birth certificates of the grandparents, which showed that they were born in countries like Argentina and Spain - all corresponding with the players' birthplaces.
But FAM said the discrepancies arose from an "administrative error" and that it would appeal Fifa's penalties. It maintained that the players were "legitimate Malaysian citizens".
Administrative error my arse.

So this is one of the podcasts I enjoy listening to after a workout while doing some cardio. They had 2 solid segments, one right at the beginning and one starts at 47:16.

First segment talks about how players are getting seriously hurt at a young age with a lot of theories but no real sports science behind it. The idea is that the intensity in the premier league is still the same as it was in the 2000s but the intensity has picked up in other leagues. But the bigger factor is that more athletes are now fully on board with the 24/7 training and are thus faster and stronger meaning that any potential injuries become much worse. Its a fascinating theory that I think holds a lot of weight to it, especially if kids are still so young and their bodies are still developing to have them need to play at such a fast and intense level week in and week out. And the way to combat this doesn't seem black and white because the young player will want to play as soon as they can, which they should because nothing is really guaranteed. But then you have to choose if you want your youngster to become Cole Palmer and leave for a rival or Ansu Fati and fall off with injuiries.

The second segment talks about PSR and how the rule itself can prevent teams from breaking into the top 4. He brings up examples of Aston Villa having to sell Douglas Luiz after making Champions League and Newcastle having to sell young talent after making the Champions League. At first I was on Don Hutchinson's side but the rules exist for a reason and Gab brought up good points about how Aston Villa chose to sell Luiz with that weird switch with Juventus instead of selling a different player. They also didn't bring up Portsmouth and Leeds going bust with Leeds which kind of kills Hutchinson's argument. I found the argument that Newcastle have Saudi owners so they should get to spend money. Ultimately, the PSR is flawed but I don't know if there is a better option

It's very similar to the youth baseball injury epidemic. Younger kids are consistently throwing as hard, if not harder, than Randy Johnson in his heyday, and blowing out their arms at much younger ages.

Ange Postecoglu has been sacked 19 minutes after they lost 3-0. I think Marinakis is one of the worst owners in football (that haven't caused their club to go bankrupt).

Time line

-Forest drastically overperform their underlying numbers and held on their regression to the mean at the end of the 24/25 season to still qualify for Europe despite being in Champions League spots. Instead of being excited that a team who would have been relegated if Luton, Burnley, and Sheffield United took survival seriously, Marinakis gets pissed at Nuno.
-Edu Gaspar is appointed as the new head of Global Football for Nottingham Forest. He will want his own manager and clashes with Nuno for summer transfer's. This does not just include players, but also includes squad size. Nuno likes a smaller squad of players that he can rotate in for matches and for training. I believe the squad size increases by somewhere between 5-8 players but I can't find the specific number.
-Forest benefit from ruling on Crystal Palace and are placed in the Europa League. While the jump isn't as massive as going from Europa League to Champions League, its still significant.
-Making league phase goes from 3.17mil to 4.3 mil
-Winning league phase goes from 400k to 453k
-Drawing league phase goes from 133k to 151k
you get the idea. This effects budgets as teams will budget out their expenses based on expected revenues. This ruling happening so late means that any potential transfers get put into limbo due to not realizing how much different the revenues would be.
-Despite guiding them into the league phase (Making them an additional 4.3 mil) and getting 4 points in the league with a win against Brentford and a tie against Crystal Palace (which was impressive at the time), a loss to West Ham at home would seal Nuno's fate. His sacking left the entire dressing room pissed and would not sit well with the next guy in line.
-Ange is hired essentially to fail. He doesn't have his players or any real squad suited to play how he wants to play. His only real chance to train players would be during the October international break as Forest would play a match every 3-4 days from his appointment until the October international break.
-Ange is dealt 4 road games in a row with difficult fixtures against Arsenal and Betis in the Europa League along with a tricky fixture at Swansea that was just a collapse by supposed premier league players and a decent result at Burnley (if you are realistic about Nottingham Forest being in a relegation scrap)
-Comes back from international break to play early season outside title contenders Chelsea and lose at home.
-Sacked Ange in the tunnel after the game. Does not give him until the start of the November international break nor does he sack him at the start of the October international break to give time to settle for the next guy (who will be fired in 30 days).
-Next guy will have to come in and prepare for Fc Porto at home in the Europa League before traveling to Bournemouth on Sunday next week.

I hope Edu enjoys his new position with a crazy owner. Would be funny to see Arsenal win the year he left for this clown show. Forest fans deserve better

While brutal, i think sacking Ange sooner rather than later is the right idea, cant let it drag out too long. Of course, the fat greek wont apologize for fucking it with nepotism by hiring his mate

Sean Dyche allegedly next for the role, he'll do well

What makes this story even worse is that Ange wasn't actually going to be fired in the tunnel. That fat Greek just wanted to yell at Ange about how bad they were playing and Ange had the nerve to defend himself against this self inflated retard

Lure Big Sam Allardyce out of retirement for the lols.
If only we would be so lucky. Although I would definitely buy Peacock if it meant Tony Pulis came back and brought Rory Delap with him

And with that Aston Villa win, we are 9 games into this season. If you had 2 points per game so far, you are sitting in 2nd place. If you have 1 point per game, you would be 4 points out of the relegation zone. Its crazy to think that the difference between the champions league spots and 15th spot is 5 points (6 points if Spurs win). And none of the newly promoted teams are in the relegation zone (the closest one is 5 points outside the relegation zone). This season is already amazing
