G4 Returning in 2021

Looking back it's actually kind of insane just how obsessed with sexy women 2000s media and culture was, it was an absolutely crucial part of the overall aesthetic of the decade.

Wasn't much to say about him unlike debating over who was the hottest I guess.
Booth babes, car babes, every reality show, every dating show. Fear Factor didn't even seem to let less than 7s on from my memory. It was definitely the era of the bikini clad woman.

Hot chicks ruled the day, now they've all been scrubbed out of mainstream media and culture.

It's no wonder women make a killing with stuff like OnlyFans or titty streaming considering how sanitized everything else has become.

I forgot about this after it got announced, I wish I had continued to forget about it. Can't say I'm disappointed if I expected it.

G4 TO LAUNCH ON VERIZON FIOS, COX, XFINITY TV, PHILO AND TWITCH

ON NOVEMBER 16, 2021

Los Angeles, CA – October 12, 2021 – G4, the content studio and network that unites creators and fandoms, announced today the network will officially return to consumers on linear television and through streaming services on November 16, 2021.

Upon launch, G4 will debut linearly on the channel lineups of Verizon Fios, Cox, and Xfinity TV. The network will also stream on Philo and collaborate with Twitch on a multi-year promotional and commercial partnership through G4’s official Twitch channel. G4 will also continue to create channel-specific content across its social media platforms and YouTube.

“Since the initial announcement of G4’s revival at Comic-Con @ Home last year, we’ve been in constant dialogue with our audience through the content we’ve produced,” said Russell Arons, President, G4. “We made a promise to fans that we would build this network with their input and are proud to say that our promise has been kept. At G4, we never stopped playing and can’t wait to have our fans join us in our hilarious and fairly preposterous sandbox on November 16.”

“G4 was a pioneer for video games on television for twelve years, long before businesses were focused on gaming. The credibility that comes with that cannot be manufactured,” said Josh Cella, Chief Revenue Officer, G4/Spectacor Gaming. "As we gear up to launch, we are excited to unlock our portfolio of talent, creative marketing platforms, interactive programming and an innovative distribution model for business partners."

G4 programming will be produced and delivered through a first-of-its-kind 24/7 broadcast studio, featuring a collaborative workplace and professional esports and gaming environment. Designed by global architectural firm Populous, the studio is located in Burbank, California. Other notable design projects from Populous include Yankee Stadium, Red Bull HQ, and Esports Stadium Arlington.

G4’s programming slate at launch will include a wide range of content, including new editions of beloved legacy G4 shows, exclusive content, top interviews, and more, including:

  • Attack of the Show!: The original geek culture variety show returns with host Kevin Pereira and a brand new cavalcade of misfits. Irreverent and unscripted, Attack of the Show!is a welcoming place for any fan who wants to spend a couple of hours laughing, watching epic stunts and hilarious sketches, and deep-diving into the latest trends of the internet. From hilarious web videos to memes, to streaming of all types, to celebrity guests, to the weirdest tech, Attack of the Show! is still the show that gets it before it gets out.
  • Xplay: Xplay used an extra life! The ultimate video game review show returns as a digital-first content brand that balances an authoritative loudmouth confidence with the absurdity of a public-access comedy sketch show, all while (somehow) maintaining enough credibility to book interviews with top industry luminaries. Xplay is expanding the conversation with insightful and irreverent explorations into every game worth your time: AAA, indie, mobile, VR, retro… it’s all on the table. Adam Sessler is back, joined by a group of hilarious experts, to bring a brutally honest voice to the modern gaming scene.
  • Boosted: Boosted is a weekly esports comedy series for curious gamers and esports fanatics alike. Boosted is that moment in-game when you realize you’re the worst player in the lobby. We want to revel in the entry-level as we approach gaming and esports as interns guided by our executive-level experts. Boosted will cover the latest trends, news, and tournaments in the esports world every week.
  • Ninja Warrior: The quest to summit Mt. Midoriyama returns as G4 attains the exclusive linear broadcasting rights to SASUKE, better known as Ninja Warrior in the United States, from Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc. (TBS). G4 will air all 167 episodes of the legendary competition series that pits heroic athletes of all types from pro gymnasts, to fishermen, to comedians against a four-stage, formidable, and/or impossible obstacle course. G4 will also present three tournaments never-before-seen in the United States, SASUKE 35, 36, and 37.
  • ESL Gaming: G4 has partnered with ESL Gaming, the world’s leading esports and gaming lifestyle company, to produce and broadcast several prime-time esports programs, a first for ESL Gaming in the US and Canada. G4’s exclusive linear broadcast rights make it the premier destination for ESL Pro Tour events including the IEM Katowice 2022.
  • Dungeons & Dragons Limited Series: Coming off the immense success of D&D Live 2021 featuring notable celebrities like Jack Black, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Smith, and DrLupo, G4 will continue its partnership with Wizards of the Coast with an all-new, limited-run series to premiere on G4 this Fall. The series will follow four campaigns with a mix of G4 talent, veteran D&D players, and celebrities for a new generation of D&D fans.
Additional distribution, programming and content partnerships will be announced closer to the network launch.

Joining G4 for its official launch is an eclectic mix of notable talent from the gaming and entertainment industries, including returning G4 hosts Kevin Pereira and Adam Sessler; esports personalities Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez (host of NBC’s Titan Games), Ovilee May, and Froskurinn; WWE Superstar Xavier Woods AKA Austin Creed; Youtube personalities Kassem G, Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil, The Black Hokage, and Gina Darling; Popular Twitch streamers Fiona Nova and Will Neff; rising vStreamer CodeMiko; and a degenerate rat-puppet named Ratty.

I am so mixed on this... I really want this to succeed....at the same time, I also don't want this to succeed.
Gaming media has changed so much since 2006.

Having anything outside of a youtube channel is pointless.

Twitch now serves the same function as Arcades did where you can watch people play games live and see titles you wouldn't normally see as well as watching others compete

Youtube has a better archive of videos of past and current events so you can check out more stuff before you buy.

There's really no place for a gaming media channel on TV since the internet already covers it. Unless you want a SECRET CLUB bullshit where only a small group of people on the fringe watch it.

They're going to wind up just becoming a place where you can watch show that's like Pawn Stars but it's about old gaming shit.

I'll probably tune in too the return of AoTS and X-Play, really just to see how cucked they really have become. Laugh. Then never watch again.

Seeing this thread reminded me just how badly Trump broke Adam Sessler's mind.
He was somewhat tolerable at Rev3Games but since 2016 it's like all his thought is bent on mean orange man.
What a pathetic little authoritarian faggot coke head.
Trump closed the border so he only had access to suboptimal bathtub cocaine.

Anyone else remember their list of 100 best games where they put Legend of Zelda ALTTP at 2 and Super Mario Bros at 1?
I remember that Scrabble knock off mobile game, Words with Friends, being in the list as well. (#99)

Here is the list btw if you want to check it out: www.listchallenges.com/top-100-video-games-of-all-time-g4tv

It does have some weird choices:
Angry Birds (#49)
Rock Band 3 (#52)
Guitar Hero 2 (#96)

They split up any series so Halo and GTA take at least a couple spots which is odd. I don't know why it couldn't just be the Halo series at #20 or whatever. Zelda takes like 3 of the top spots because of that as well.

Wait they are actually trying to go back to TV on the Syfi channel still? With all the internet creators they pulled into this crap how is this not just a corporate ran, equally autistic version of channel awesome where Adam Sessler has some ghost writers review games he didn't even play since he's just a hack figure head and where the only new addition of value is the completionist

Even if the reboots suck it's still pretty amazing to think of G4 returning to TV, not something I expected to happen.

Shame there doesn't seem to be any attempt at making old G4 content available online though.

G4TV is coming back to TV with X-Play and Attack of The Show!, but they’re not bringing back this?

I have Anime Unleashed to thank for introducing me to my all time favorite anime.

I have a bad feeling this newly revived G4TV is going to be woke.
And I like to think this might mark the return of the more laid back 2000s mindset to gaming culture, watch me be completely wrong though.

More nostalgia for all of the kids who grew up in the 2000’s. It almost reminds me of the bumps that were made for [adult swim] from back in that era.

G4 was a product of its time. I'm sure people have mentioned that in this thread already, but you can't recapture that magic. I never had cable growing up, only basic shit like Fox and CBS, so those magical weekends I'd be staying elsewhere, a friends, a family members, I'd always wind up staying up all night to watch G4, no matter what it was. Those years when nerd shit wasn't cool were so damn good. Even looking back and watching the episodes of Cheat or X-Play, I don't even cringe. It WASN'T cringe then. It was innocent, and stupid, and most everyone actually seemed to care about the hobbies that they showcased. I've rewatched the World of Warcraft Cheat episode many times on nostalgic nights with friends, thinking about the good ol' days.

It's pretty funny how much incorrect information is scattered throughout the episode, like someone heard another person talk about it and just recounted what they could remember.
Same for me. Uncle had cable, grandparents had satellite, so I'd watch X-Play whenever I was over there (also awesome Skinemax softcore porn, but that's neither here nor there.) Thankfully I mostly missed out on G4's Olivia Munn era, but I remember some long-haired weirdo making fun of Roxy Jezel at a porn convention, and a top games episode of something hosted by a hot Asian chick in black leather; she had a whip and everything she said was drenched in innuendo. It was both innocent and shocking compared to the sex sanitized dystopian future we're living in now.
