G4 Returning in 2021

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
Back in the day people were pissed that G4 killed TechTV, now they are nostalgic for it.

I loved TechTV back in the day, but some of it lived on through TWiT.tv, and it's probably for the best that it ended because that entire network may as well be called Simpin' for Silicon Valley.

Never got into G4, though I did like Icons. But I'm sure it's not on the same level of quality as like, Gaming Historian.

Though I'd love to see reruns of Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. I wonder if that show aged well or if I just liked it when I was little because it was kind of dirty

edit: And speaking of Adam Sessler, I think I read something once about him not actually being all that much into video games, while Morgan Webb had all the gaming chops. And she turned out fine.

This is gonna suck. Like someone else said, G4 made sense before the internet was where it's at today... Now you get that content from multiple sources and actual enthusiasts.
Plus the gaming market isn't even the same, people aren't as excited for releases and game news as they once were because you already know what's coming and pretty much what to expect most of the time.

and sessler sucks

G4 returning in 2021? Yeah good luck with that, Youtube already has that covered with all the people that play games, review games, and do analyses that go into the history of a game and its development cycle and series to whatever autistic sounding deep thunk dive that tries to make a generic fps mil-shooter sound like active American propaganda. Aside from what others say such as how the shows today could be shit too focused on some political spergings or how old G4 ended up being a shittier Spike TV, a G4 for 2021 likely won't have the same charm the old one had unless the people bringing it back really did their research in what made old G4 great before the head that ran old G4 fucked it over with shit like Cheaters and Cops AND the people bringing it back manage to have something going for new G4 that brings in viewers.

These are your "Fresh new talent" (aka woke as fuck NPC's) For your Nerdstalgia reboot of G4, evreyone!

Shit, they got 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 babies, a stick figure, AND the Quaker Oats dude as staff memebers??? Shit's diverse as fuck, at least 2 of them don't even have a 3rd dimension.

Edit: Fuck, I forgot the starwars thing drawing and the wall of text, both stunning and brave members of the diversity hire.

None of these seem to be on camera roles though, I guess it remains to be seen who the hosts of the shows are going to be.

Whatever this turns out to be I hope some sort of online archive of old G4 content is part of it, being able to watch every episode of X-Play again would be a literal dream come true.

The Quaker Oats dude is hilarious.

Of course they're all beardos with a few dangerhairs/woke dyke Karens and the Quaker Oats guy for some damn reason.

Fuck this shit. The only way G4 could work in 2021 is as a content archive on Peacock and maybe bring back Attack of the Show and X-Play in an intentionally nostalgic and kitschy tribute to the 2000's.

Ngl I'm waiting for the inevitable #metoo scandal to be covered here on the farms in 2 to 10 months after they launch.

Together we're building a bigger, more inclusive playground than any one of us could on our own. Sure, our playground might have seesaws AND automated laser turrets, but it's all for fun. Well, the laser turrets are to build character. Point is, if you're reading this, there's no litmus test. You're already in.

I legit thought this was Buzzfeed and not G4tv. In fact, I even tried to see how long this digital version will turn into another Kotaku, because gamers absolutely need more of that, right?

I wouldn't have expected anything less. I don't understand how on a company website you can get away with your photo being a fucking dog or the Quaker Oats guy. This shows the level they are going for already.

Anyone want to predict how everything will go? My prediction is they'll start out "fun" and have regular gaming content for about 6 months. Then it will take a sharp turn into politics and all that other garbage.

In a perfect world they would have a show where some dude (playing a SNES or a Windows 95 machine) tells video game developers why their games are derivative and shit.

In reality they will have a show where some tranny (snapchatting their onlyfans on an iPhone) tells video game developers why their derivative and shit games are the best thing ever.

(:_(

Lol they have more marketing people than anything else. Nothing is more useless than a brand manager and marketing. They want things done but can't measure them and when you try to measure them they freak the fuck out and blame technology or some random outside event that screwed up open rates, click throughs, and new sales ops.

What the fuck would you even do all day at the new G4 if you weren't a video producer or sales?

Also the black woman looking in awe of the PS4 controller like it's an alien artifact.

Is there any possible way corporate gaming journalism today could be anything but? I had kind of hoped a G4 revival could be thing to bring back a more old school gaming journalism but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Six months before diving into IdPol is a highly optimistic guess.

I'll give them eleven minutes.

Honestly, the only way you could bring back that "old school gaming journalism" is if you just did a "spiritual successor" site or streaming channel under a different name.

I'm surprised nobody's made a genuine attempt at a truly apolitical gaming journalism/gaming culture and history site or channel. If you played up the 1990's/2000's nostalgia angle and the Y2K Aesthetic, you could probably get a small but loyal or decent sized following
