The backbone of the game is a party creation mechanism. You choose the remaining 3 slots of the party from a variety of classes and male / female. So that's impacted. Then there is the personality system which is affected by sex, some of which are only available to female (Tomboy for example) as well as by books which influence that.

The truth is they are deleting the concept of sexual differences between male and female from an 80s Japanese game with art by Toriyama. That's huge.

Then look at what they did to the Troll monster. This is some DEI shit going deep.

I'm conflicted about it since I remember the game was pretty good without anything weird in the writing. Though it was still in the era where translators looked into what the audience would like and reduce age rating rather than insert politics.

I've just started the game two weeks back for the first time in my life and honestly wouldn't have known. Just got past the fire temple and giant red weapon thing last night.

It's a 90's/early 00's localization meant to more appeal to the westerners if I had to guess but it gets the job done and I'm really loving the game.

The remaster of Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space censored at least one joke.

The original ending montage shows Jurgen, the male vampire who others joke about being gay, together with a group of women trying to catch a bouquet of flowers.
He's removed from this scene completely in the remaster. Someone points it out in this Reddit post (archive) and is immediately met with coping responses.

The season 1 remaster's censorship is well-documented, but anyone asking if the season 2 remaster is censored is told "they didn't censor anything!" Whoops.

At least Woolsey didn't inject his political takes into the script, and actually tried to stay true to the spirit of the original text.

A lot of his creative liberties (aside from Nintendo of America's censorship policy at the time) were motivated by the fact that English text requires a lot more characters to form a sentence than Japanese (where each character is a syllable), so he had to reword things in order to fit the script on the SNES cartridge. This is especially true of JRPGs, they're infamously wordy.

With either Chrono Trigger or FF6, he had to completely redo the script three times because there was simply too much text to fit the game's memory.

I have minor nitpicks about that construction guy shouting manly gobbledegook in Japanese which was all 'bro this', 'bro that' in English. Something along the lines of:
'I'm a man!' - JP
'I'm a bro!' - EN

Who talks like that. Sounds more to me like a DEI slut found the word 'man' inappropriate. Bunch of niggers.

It was bad enough when a meme was new when the translation started, but was outdated by the time the game got the English release. But amongus memes were old hat years ago. Likely before the English translation started at all.

Meanwhile much earlier in mission dialogue, both Ben and Anton "narrates" the situation fine.


Other than that, there is also a mistake or error in a side quest (it's actually two) about a kid starts learning number order from one to ten. There this girl name is Enid on screen, but dialogue box refers her as "Anne". Idk if there is like some weirdo machine translation happens in there.
