Game of Thrones Thread

Man, Drogon must've leveled-up in between episodes. His dexterity rose, he took the 'Dodge' feat and the 'Explosive Breath' ability upgrade (seriously, why was everything exploding like a bomb went off under it when his fired touched it?). Those scorpions went from having aim hacks with instant reload to being completely fucking useless.

Also, the scenes with Arya reminded me of those ones with the Russian family in the Justice League movie.

As someone who hasn't seen a single episode of GoT, did I dodge a bullet?
I haven't seen any of it either but the memes are absolutely supreme, speaking of:

So um...how about all those parents from 2014 to the present day who named their children "Khaleesi."

They'll either quickly buy the book and say it was based on that or just say it was based on queen.

I LIKED the idea of Daenerys going bonkers. But the setup for this makes no sense whatsoever. The only SLIGHT hint in all 7 seasons she'd go batshit like this was when she actually roasted Dick'em & Pops. If this is the outcome they wanted for her character, they should've spent more time building towards it, not spending the entire length of the show making every effort to show that, yes she's entitled, but her main actions are to protect the innocent people blah blah blah. NONE of that matters, at the sound of a fucking bell. Same with Jaime, just shit on 7 years of character building because "OH MAN, THEY'LL NEVER GUESS THIS!"

Count me annoyed. I don't like watching a show I was enjoying just get completely trashed. On the other hand, the super salt is fun to watch too, so...kinda worth it?

I gave up on this show at the end of season 5, beginning of season 6. I loathed it and it turned into a soap opera. I was clearly absolutely correct. Except instead of a soap-opera, it was a teen drama. Dany went evil because Jon didn't fuck her and there was the bell and she went insane.

I think Riot Games overnerfed the ballistas.

Again I think dany going full dracarys was a great idea, in theory, but the execution in the show is piss poor, you've spent 7 season excusing her horrible behavior and now you want people to see that she's not that great a person.

Cersei and Jaime are great actors, despite the latter character being ruined.
I think the episode was really well directed, leagues above the shit that was the (not very) Long Night.

But this is a lose lose situation for HBO, you piss off the book readers and people that honestly care about the show by having nonsensical character development and you piss off the casual crowd/danny fanboys by having her go full mad.

Fucking kek, the leaks were spot on. All hail Bran, the new King of Westeros next week. All that build up for a fucking autistic cripple to win the Throne...Simply amazing D&D. Wonder what line of condescending bullshit they will put out to justify this? At least the Onion knight and Bronn will live, possibly the only 2 non-butchered characters at this point.

From being compared to Breaking Bad and Lord of The Rings to this...GRRM must be wetting himself in excitement knowing that whatever he puts out will be better than the show, that his books will probably not become a footnote in the TV series history.

the first seasons were good, but its not worth watching, a long building up with no pay off...

i hoped that something crushes or impales arya for the whole 30 mins she was wandering the burning city. that would have been a great subverting... just let a stone hit her.

also, why does nobody in westeros understand how walls work? and why are their castles build with explosives?

and now those clowns will direct star wars...

I pretty much agree with everything but let's not pretend like there's no basis for Daenerys going insane, she's from a dinasty that's been practicing incest for thousands of years and with multiple examples of rulers going fucking nuts, her entire immediate family all went batshit over time, Daddy Aerys? Batshit, Viserys? Batshit, Rhaegar? Probably batshit to some degree.
They even alluded to this all the way back in season 2 when she has a vision of the Iron Throne covered in snow, which turned out to be ash instead.
Of course that's not to say D&D aren't fucking hacks and it wasn't rushed and very poorly set up.

So people that were fans of Dexter, Lost, or How I Met your Mother, is this ending season better, match, or surpass the suckage of these examples?
I haven’t really watched GoT, but HIMYM completely fucked the entire series with its last episode, whereas GoT seems to be doing it with the entire last season. Not sure which could be considered worse.

may be but there won't be much profit in it. How many people actually read Starship Troopers vs. Holywood shit movie (all whatever 3 of them?)

I think that there were plenty of ways to compromise the shit with everyone. I never read books, didn't watch the show until 5 or 6th season, but the whole let down after 7 seasons of build up to nothing ...

Tyrrion freeing his brother. "You were the only one who didn't treat me like a monster."

Qybern getting his head smashed in by his own Frankenstein's monster. I burst out laughing.

Also I didn't realize it until after it happened, but I'm going to miss the Hound. :( He would've made a great master-at-arms for Winterfell.

Dexter's final season wasn't just poorly written, nonsensical shit, it was really, really boring poorly written, nonsensical shit. Game of Thrones' final season at least has some good visual spectacle and fan-service (even if it's unearned and out of place). Dexter's final season seriously had no redeeming qualities.
