Game of Thrones Thread

Ultimately, I can only see 3 productive things happening from here:
1) GRRM stops being a lazy cunt and finishes the books with a satisfying ending
2) a new cult of fan fiction will pop up, a la the Star Wars EU, comprised of alternate GOT/ASOIAF endings, some of which might be gratifying enough to earn their own cult followings, especially if GRRM doesn't finish the novels
3) Aspiring novelists/screenwriters will see the world-building and narrative complexity of the series, learn from it's mistakes, and become inspired to create a work that delivers what GRRM and D&D couldn't

There are just so many plotholes and hypothetical alternate storylines that it would take days if not months or even years to fully scrutinize. I think it goes without saying that Dany 9/11 Hiroshima-ing King's Landing is perfect symbolism for what D&D did to this series.

As far as the prequel series, we'll see how much viewership that gets, considering how the finale of this show killed damn near all of the good will of the fanbase. And as far as D&D's Star Wars series, as I stated earlier, the SW OT can always be viewed as standalone, not to mention, considering how badly the new films have damaged the storyline, the SW franchise may not survive long enough for D&D to ruin it, not to mention, if Disney are getting nervous about Johnson directing their new trilogy, they'll surely be skeptical of the two writers who just ruined the world's biggest TV show because they kinda forgot about plot logistics. So again, we'll see how that goes.

All in all, a gigantic and unnecessary shitshow. It's like the Andy Warski of fictional television.

The more I think about Dany’s death the angrier I get. Aside from how anticlimactic and forced it is, the lack of backlash is unbelievable. All we get is Grey Worm saying he wants to kill Jon Snow, which he doesn’t follow through with because apparently he’s okay with Jon being exiled. The Unsullied practically worship Dany as their liberator and hero, they should have killed Jon immediately instead of just throwing him in a dungeon.

And what about the Dothraki? When Khal Drogo died, they splintered off into smaller groups that immediately began raiding and pillaging the surrounding areas. We’ve been shown that only Dany kept their warmongering impulses in check, now that she’s gone they should be pillaging Westeros like everyone feared they would. There’s also the fact that Dany named all the Dothraki warriors her bloodriders, which means that they should want to avenge her death (which, again, means they would want to kill Jon).

We could have had an entire season dealing with the fallout of Dany's death. Instead we suffer though a shitty contrived resolution just so D&D could wrap it up in 30 minutes.

I do genuinely agree, but I honestly think that, even if the series had actually been done well throughout its course, the final episode probably would have been fairly lackluster anyway because the writers would then have to make sure all the other plot threads and character arcs were resolved (assuming of course those characters survived). Granted, this would still have been better than what the fans got. The only difference probably would be that it wouldn't have been as insulting.

A heretofore unseen level of meta this show has brought forth:

The industry is the rebuild. That and maybe westeros greyhound to move living bodies back in afterward.

There's like no one left in Kings landing other than the nobles and unsullied after the battle/executions

The Unsullied left for Naath to get butterfly poisoning. Maybe some Dothraki will settle down. Or some people could move in from Dorne. I hear it's very crowded down there this time of year.

That's my point. Once the unsullied left King's landing was a ghost town

Remember Tyrion is now Lord of casterly Rock most likely. And outside of dragonstone and harrenhall every other place suitable for a capital is occupied.

Well generally after a disaster like that there's a baby boom. Once people have coupled off and had some passels of brats, they'll fill the city up, but it'll take a few years.

The season has pretty much broken the fandom. Sure, the shills and the Sansa MUH QUEEN IN DA NORFF lovers have loved it, but book fans, theorists, etc...They all found it a mess. Now pretty they have all separated from one another and are pretty divided and accusing one and another of being bad fans and such and such.

And our favorite shills are back:

It was a hot damn mess. Even with the massive plot holes. Even with Sophie basically saying sod the fuck off.

You have:
  1. No fallout from Aegon's kingslaying
  2. Arya going fuckall west of Westeros and HBO going 'No Soup for you!'
  3. Brienne, while giving Jamie a peaceful ending, biting her tongue.
  4. Dothraki assimilating without the murder, rape culture.
  5. Bran having no 'want' of kingmaking, becoming King of the Six Kingsdoms
  6. North Seceeding. What about Dorne, Highgarden, Crownlands?
Never mind some folks getting their happy ending in a show which doesn't have it.
  1. Sam GrandMaester so he can sperg out
  2. Brienne and Pod becoming knights and being in the Kingsguard
  3. Bronn, able to get cunt for a clipped copper, in charge of the coins.
  4. Daevos Maester of ships.

You'll have rebuild and other shit but this..

..this..

goddamn fuckers blew their load and expect us to thank them for the facial.

It's going to be winter for like, 7 years, I don't think there's going to be food for all that.

I think the Dothraki are bothering me the most about the finale. Especially since they were all whipped up into a blood frenzy right before Dany died.

Just watched it, feel pretty robbed.

8 years man, 8 pretty goddamn glorious years, and you fucked it up in like 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Why wouldn't HBO want to drag this out as long as they could? Or at least one more season, ending with the death of the night king and starting with the march on kings landing.
