The thing I see wrong with the episode is that they made a point of showing Bronn get cut...by what was obviously a poisoned weapon.

A terrible, humiliating scene in which a woman is brutally punished, not for any of the bad things she’s done, but because she had extramarital sex. In the books, you feel terrible for her, because the writing makes clear how crushing this is. Even readers who think this character deserves jail time aren’t all comfortable with it. It’s unjust, sexist, and sad. And now D&D are adapting it for the screen. I’m out. I’m so out.

    Hmmm… I dunno what I found more distastefully about this episode- The fact the Slavers were Black people (so far the only black people in the show) or the fact that Sansa’s brutal rape was presented as a terrible thing happening to Theon

However, let me remind you all that in the books Sansa is 14, and the timeline of the show isn’t clear, so for all we know we just watched not only a girl who we care about get raped, we watched a 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL GET RAPED. I’m disgusted. This is just as bad, if not worse, than season 4’s Jamie/Cercei rape scene. There has got to be something we as fans can do to get how wrong this was across

I just… I’m going to go back to fantasy land where her first time was with Margaery Tyrell instead and definitely very consensual and loving and the furthest thing from painful.

3) We could argue all day that there was no reason from a storytelling stand point this didn't need to happen, but hey, at least it wasn't dog rape.

I'm on and off about Game of Thrones, it's the perfect middle between loving and hating it, but it's still better than 90% of the shit on telly.

Yeah, this was toned down from the books and could have been a lot more disturbing. The "outrage" is stupid since the whole series has been teasing "Who gets to bone Sansa?" from Day One; hinting at Joffrey, Tyrion, and Littlefinger at various points.

Just watch the infamous episode that triggered a million voices. It was really tame by GoT standards. Where was this outrage when Drogo took Daenerys? Or when a pregnant woman got brutally stabbed?

Welp. That happened. I think most of the people I know are in a state of shock still since I haven't seen a single friend of mine post about the episode yet.
 
It's quite annoying how they dragged out a bunch of boring shit, including an entire extra season compared to number of books, then rushed through books 4 and 5, which were much more interesting than 3. Speaking of the books, I can't wait until next week when everyone talks about how they're "omg done with this show". (Not Kiwis necessarily but the overdramatic fans.)

In retrospect the warnings are there.

-The "previously on" brings up the kings blood.
-They get screwed by Ramsey "best Snow" Bolton at the camps, making Stannis more desperate.
-Stannis sends Davos away. Davos offers to take Stannis's family, he says no. Davos tries to take his daughter, he says no.
-Davos has a touching goodbye moment with Shireen.
-Shireen tells Stannis she's willing to do anything to help.
 
Totally. Everything in that episode built to that scene but I think a lot of people were still convinced that it wouldn't happen.

Shireen also being one of the only universally liked characters on the show helps really hurt the feels.

I think it's because he was fairly non-bullshit about the situation, is the only one preparing for the White Walkers outside of the Wall, and had a strange sense of charisma about him.
