That's not the problem I have. My issue is that he talks about all that while admitting he pays for Youtube Premium.

You can't list reasons why Youtube is bad while at the same time supporting the same company that is doing the bad thing. Either go full Louis Rossman or don't.
He can't bite the hand that feeds him. There's a rule against promoting adblockers on the platform. LTT got their video on adblockers removed by Youtube.

He's teased about leaving Windows and moving on to doing tests on Linux environments, so the possibility of him ignoring Nividia, if only temporarily, is not out of the realm of possibility.

Besides, the entirety of the 5000 series videos ever since they've been released has been "these cards are shit". It's starting to get a bit monotonous.
He is a consumer advocate and his job is to review these products, he can't just ignore Nvidia and let people get scammed by Jensen.
As for leaving Windows that's another topic, I believe he wants to make Linux content like his friend Wendell but he is waiting for Valve to officially release SteamOS.

NVidia has become GN's "White Whale". Seems like he's going to keep chasing after their stupidity until they stop being stupid ( doubt it ) or he gives up and moves on to non-Nvidia related things ( more likely scenario )
nvidia is the only double-digit consumer discrete gpu company (both AMD and Intel are <9% lately), there isn't much else to talk about because they barely matter. I think any critical coverage of them should be welcome since any company with that overwhelming majority will engage in shady practices without getting enough push-back (very few sites/channels can afford getting blacklisted from them). So long as he keeps putting the random leather jacket man clips in the videos it's fine for me.

He's teased about leaving Windows
So did millions of other people that begrudingly upgraded to 10. Then 11. GN is balls deep in the Windows ecosystem thanks to Adobe, so for the whole office to move to Linux only is a years long task, if they commit to it. Everyone romanticizes about leaving Windows for Linux until they try to take the next step, after which they fall back to Windows. And maybe in 1 of 10000 cases, someone will be stubborn enough to keep pushing and make the move.
moving on to doing tests on Linux environments
Which would be a good way to fuck your channel over. Whether you like it or not, >95% of PC gamers are on Windows. There is zero benefit in ditching them for <5% of PC gamers over the blind "Windows bad, Linux good" ideological retardation. Besides, I never heard Steve suggesting that they'll ditch Windows for testing, juat him complaining about how shit it has gotten with Wendell, who by the way uses both Windows and Linux since he's not a ideology driven autist.

GN isn't a rebellion channel so don't delude yourself into thinking they'll stop doing videos with Windows and Nvidia any time soon. They're the current market titans, Steve himself has admitted that they use Nvidia GPU's for video rendering due to CUDA, and you don't sustain a company employing multiple people on the "free as in freedom" rebellion circlejerk. You can at most sustain your own autistic nerd ass if you're lucky like that neckbeard fag Brodie Robertson.

Yeah I could see Steve starting to include Linux testing but no way does he ditch Windows entirely.

Hell I use Mint as my daily driver but still boot to Windows for the little bit of gaming I do. Even though Steams Proton works pretty well, Windows is still better when the game isn't designed for Linux.

I had one game that played fine with Proton but the in game videos didn't work.

I could see him doing a one-off "Windows vs Linux" video since there isn't much sense in bloating every review with Linux testing.

Funny he posted this. A relative of mine just mentioned Youtube Premium to my family and I hear that they are considering it... even when they have Netflix, HBO Max and NBA League Pass.

I fucking hate subscriptions and the niggerfaggots that propagate them.
Yep, it's all well and good to hate unethical corporate practices, but none of it would be possible without the niggercattle who lube up and bend over for them. One can make arguments about "The System" forcing you into certain bullshit one-sided transactions when it comes to necessities., but consumers are just as profligate and stupid when it comes to luxury entertainment purchases where it would be trivial to simply say 'no'.

We get the markets we tolerate.

might be a codec issue, especially some older games sometimes used stuff like wmv.
It was a new game. When I dug into the files to find the videos, I believe I found that they were encoded into some weird format used specifically for games, or something like that. It was like 4 years ago, I don't remember exactly. Didn't matter, the videos weren't important to the plot, they were just supposed to be funny world building videos.
K-Lite Codec Pack is the better choice nowadays. Even comes pre-bundled with a maintained fork of MPC-HC, which by the way can also use Nvidia Super Resolution if you have an RTX card, so it supersedes madVR.
People still use codec packs? Holy shit I haven't used that since like Windows XP, maybe 7.

They're still handy. K-Lite comes with better thumbnail rendering, HEVC codecs which don't exactly come preinstalled, LAV filters and MPC-HC which relies on codecs K-Lite comes with. If you're a VLC type of guy then VLC comes pre-bundles with it's own codecs.

so they use Youtube premium as a sort of implied blackmail fee because Youtube is simply not usable anymore without an ad removing solution for an intelligent person. Steve is probably the same.
he literally says that in the video, he only pays for premium because it gives other stuff that going free don't, on the video upload side.

I took a look at super-resolution out of curiosity then forgot about it until I wanted to play a video with subtitles and discovered that the video renderer needed for it broke subtitles or whatever it was. Is that still the case?

Sounds like Bink Video, don't know why the videos wouldn't play for you though.

Doesn't happen to me, MPC video renderer and default subtitle renderer.

>HYTE sponsoring the video on the condition that he does the ad in german only
