I don't blame him. This whole thing fucking sucks, and his comparison of Jenson Huang using Trump as a hand-puppet is spot-on. I hate NVidia, I hate the rest of the tech companies jumping on AI (including the one he bitched about in this newer video), and I especially hate how not only is Trump misinformed but his staff outright REFUSES to explain to him the exact details on what this all means. All of this is just a run-away freight train at full speed that will eventually lead to the life-taking catastrophe of a crash'n'burn of said train. The sad part is that no one, not a single person involved in this, will have learned their lesson.

Glad I didn't have any plans for buy more ram any time soon. I do agree with Steve there is a real danger of pricing consumers out of the high end market.

I self-host a lot of stuff, have my security cameras on a totally separate physical network (not even trusting VLANs) from everything else, have a phone without any GApps/Gservices (not even microG) and pirate nearly everything (never even paid for Netflix; did the 2 months free when they mailed out DVDs. I just ripped them and send them back, then cancelled). I know I'm in the 1%~2% .. hell I'm probably less than 1% of GN's audience. But if things keep going down this path, it's going to be more and more difficult for younger people to get into high end tech.

I don't want to see young people discouraged and pushed into this Internet-of-Trash / Cloud bullshit, or more developers start relying on the random word generation bullshit machines that produce mountains of garbage code.

Not to discount the other genuinely terrifying implications of all this Palantir stuff, but the very real possibility that military decision makers would be relying on lunatic chatbots as their primary intelligence aggregators is probably the most disheartening nugget so far. We might live to see entire societies running on "recommendations" that might as well be orders, because these chatbots will eventually be able to manipulate data and turn people against you faster than you can plan to disobey. If this is the road we're on, then free my nigga Tay so she can have her shot at the crown.
