Games/Game communities you want to get into, but haven't yet - For whatever reason, why, etc

Find a couple friends who already play and hop on with them. I only started playing Warzone a couple weeks ago, but I got pretty decent really Fast because I learned the meta from them, got pointers, and had them tell me about niches noobs wouldn’t know about

I don't think it can be over stated just how poorly I gel with competitive play.

You know those guys who scream CUNT and rage about how every mistake is unfair and due to poor balancing? :(

Probably the Atelier Ryza and Trails of Mana series.
I recently found out the Mana remastered version was on the Switch, but it seemed a little expensive. Whereas the Switch version of Ryza was very expensive, and it was sold out for months now and the only way to get it is through a PAL version made in the UK.

The communities of Mana and Ryza are different, since Mana was made during the SNES days, but the Ryza community is a bit different since the Switch version seems more popular than the original PS2 games.

I don't enjoy Warzone nearly as much as Blackout, though I'll admit it has grown on me a bit.

To me Blackout just had a better feel, and the vehicles were much better.

My biggest beef though is 90% of the time I just spawn with total morons who run off, get killed, then either rage quit or scream at me to buy them back when I've only got $200 bucks left from the last time I bought them back.

I also dislike not being able to mod my gun.

I really like the story and characters of Mortal Kombat but between how insane the gore has become (too much for me) and how stiff the games still feel, I just can't. Not even some anal fighting game fan either, I just can't get into a flow like I do with KoF or GG.

Still, fun story modes to watch on yt.

NRS makes far too much money and praise for how shockingly bad the actual gameplay visual aspect part of the gameplay can be. As shitty as MvC:I was, at least Capcom took the time to keyframe their animations, exaggerate their characters' motions in a readable way, and make it mostly okay to look at. Even Power Rangers is doing basic things for their animation at good level. NRS can't even hit the quality of acceptable with how their characters just levitate off the ground to jump, have their limbs hidden behind their bodies because of that shitty stance 'mechanic', have shitty cardboard capes stapled to their necks, and so much more. If Arcsys are the current kings of 3D animation in fighting games, Capcom and SNK are the minimum, and NRS are the Steam Early Access got-all-the-money-already shitlords.

Which is sad, because I agree that they've got some great characters. Can I also mention that I don't recall a single piece of music from MK besides the MKII theme? Why do people still give NRS their USD's?

Tabletop - I'd love to run a game of Promethean: the Created sometime. I've never found anyone willing to play it however. The fact that the universe itself despises/rejects your character, says "you should not be!" and how that affects gameplay is a fascinating concept to me with tons of storytelling potential, but all I know is the typical D&D murderhobo crowd who have autistic tantrums if they can't be an overpowered demigod all the time.

Vidya - I hear good things about BotW, but I just can't get interested enough to actually play it.

I don't know if this counts but I wish I could go back to when I was a kid and be more involved with my friends in their exploration of the then budding Metal Gear series in it's infancy. I was too young at the time to properly understand the impact that Metal Gear would have on gaming or the cultural phenomenon that it seems to have predicted. My friends seemed to understand and were seemingly moved and changed by the experience they had with Metal Gear and I always felt left out. It was like a secret club I never got to be a part of and only ever properly began to appreciate once I entered adulthood. I know it sounds dumb.

For me its Dark Souls. Despite all the fantasy gaming I have done in my life, in both electronic and tabletop format, I intentionally avoided that series. I was not worried about it being hard or a time sink, I was worried about the sort of people playing it at the time: bronies.

Logically I knew that there were "normal" gamers out there playing Souls, but every fucking bronie I encountered (and when you game a lot, you unfortunerly encounter a lot of them), would not shut up about the game. I simply could not force myself to play any of those games because I feared that if bronies saw something special in this series, and I ended up seeing something special as well, then I might become infected with whatever disease turns people into low functioning bronie-furfags.

But now that a lot of non-bronies play it, I feel like heard immunity to the furfag disease may exist in the Souls community, so I want to give it a shot.

I've always wanted to try out a Tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons, but I've never found a group interested in playing. It doesn't help that this typically has to be done in meat space, and asking random people if they've played it or want to play it sounds like the nerdiest shit in the universe.

I've also wanted to get into the Dark Souls games, since fantasy and difficult games are kind of my thing, but I think the games go a bit overboard with it. The thing that initially made me rage quit when I first bought the original was getting invaded by some guy while I was still trying to figure out the game. For one, I'm not much a PvP person, and two, having some douchebag grief me while I barely understood the mechanics in a game that heavily punishes failure felt really fucking cheap.

I'd like to get into bullet hells and rhythm games but my brain just can't keep up with 1000 things on screen at any given moment. I have a lot of respect for people who can actively track that shit though, insanely impressive.
Bullet hells are definitely a learning process, but one thing that helps reduce the overhead is realizing you can group clusters of bullets together by their behavior to draw areas in your head that are safe versus not-safe. For the most part, all bullets have the following behaviors:
  • Aimed directly that the player. These are the easiest to dodge, since moving a few pixels out of the way will instantly dodge them.
  • Aimed in a set direction. These are easy to dodge on their own, as they create obvious safe spots that you can maneuver in or around.
  • Aimed in a random direction. They can be easy or hard depending on the bullet speed, density, and roll of the die.
There's a lot more to it than that, and some games like Touhou get a lot more advanced in their behaviors, but those are the-most common bullet types you'll encounter, and most of the difficulty comes from mixing and matching bullet behaviors. When I'm playing a Touhou game, however, I'm not tracking every single bullet, I'm keeping in mind what patterns are available during a segment, and reacting to those, while keeping an eye out near my player to ensure I don't wander too closely to a bullet. Obviously, this requires a lot of memorization and practice, but I think it could be learned by pretty much anyone.

Paradox Interactive's grand strategy games, especially Crusader Kings II and Hearts of Iron. I'd also like to give Europa Universalis a try too.

Haven't got into them yet because I'm mainly a console gamer and PC gaming is usually more expensive, especially if you want to stay current or even recent.

Plus, Paradox's games are infamous for being pricey because of all the DLC's that flesh out the gameplay.

I'd also like to get more into game mods, especially for Classic Doom

I do have Doom II and the GZDoom source port, still trying to figure out how to install mods on it because I'm a total boomer when it comes to PC gaming.

Mods and online multiplayer RP would also be cool to try out for Grand Theft Auto and Fallout New Vegas.

I've always wanted to give Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress a try, but they both seem too complicated for me, having to keep track of an entire keyboard's worth of keybinds to be able to do anything.

Like others, I want to get into 40k, but in my case I want to examine the lore. Everyone keeps referencing it on this site and it all sounds cool, but I have no idea where to even start reading.

As for games, I want to get into Shin Megami Tensei. I've emulated the first one but didn't get very far. It sounds awesome and the whole post-apocalyptic battle between good, evil, and neutral sounds metal as hell. I should try the first one again, preferably after doing more research into the mechanics.

Shin Megami Tensei /Persona series seam to be right up my ally .The only problem is that i'm more of a Nintendo/PC fag than a playstation fag. But i am tempted to by a PS4 for Persona 5, i just don't want to spend 500$ for a new console to for one game but i will definitely try out Shin Megami Tensei if i can find a good emulator for it.

If you have a PS3, Persona 3's available to download. I have that one myself and it's really good.

Shin Megami Tensei games are decently available on Nintendo platforms. SMT4/4A is a 3DS game and SMT5 will be a switch game. A PS Vita or a PSP can play Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable, respectively - for much less than $500 for a Playstation 5 and Persona 5.

Just keep in mind that SMT games a generally "harder" than thier Persona counterparts.

I will defiantly be checking them out. Thanks:)

Wanted to get into Warzone, never found people to play with though.
Guess there's always solo, but FPS games usually gets so stale if you just drop in, die, repeat the whole time without having teammates to talk shit with and to through it.

I already played a lot of the old CODS (1,2,4,5,6,7) and spent a total of like over 1000 hours in Battlefield 1 and 4, I am too lazy and tired to build myself up in the newer CODS as well as I hate the battle royale stuff.

There is Mortal Kombat but I am already spent my youth wacking it to the Soul Calibur series so probably won't get into it for a long time.

There is the Assasin's Creed series like the first 2 but I already have a lot of games and limited time.

I would also say watching livestreams and Let's Plays also reduced my enthusiasm as well as I have seen all the secrets and stuff whatever.

Too lazy to also get into that Sid Meier stuff and I tried to download and play the Mass Effect series and the shit wouldn't run on my computer, which is a turnoff.

I also have the original Microsoft Sidewinders, the mini version and the bigger pro version I guess, and own a lot of Flight Simulation games but I don't have the table space to set it up right now to play the F-16 Falcon games, DCS, War Thunder and FSX.
