I like the one guy, Drew Scanlon. Hes fun

I didn't realize he was the blinking white guy meme source either.

Matthew Rorie is fun as well, he seems happy and unpretentious, it's a dog-like joy of life, with no politics to push aside from making it socially acceptable to drink at noon on weekends.

Not all of Giant Bomb is bad. But it's not the same. Mario Party Party is the best series they've had in recent years, though I feel like splitting Vinny from the group and Drew leaving really sucked more of the fun out of it. Also Abby in general is obnoxious.

I was never the biggest fan of them though. I liked watching the best of videos mostly

Giantbomb is going to live or die on the next round of hiring, but Ben and Abby are generally insufferable and I don't know if I could handle another one of them. Ben in particular seems to ruin anything he's involved with.

They're insufferable in different ways but imo Abby is the worst because sometimes she tries to act out things but she knows she's embarrassingly bad at acting so she does it 'ironically' and tries to use her comedic chops(lvl: 0) to spice it up.

She's worse than Ms. Divine.

Honest, totally serious question: Is there any reasonably objective, critical mainstream game journalist that does any serious reporting on the industry left? Or even reviews games based at least partly the meta surrounding them (paywalls, DRM, bugs, controversies, etc)?

Heck, is there even a tech journalist out there that ever gets to sit down with a Google Exec or something the way say Joe Rogan did with the twitter Exec and ask them any real questions?

I know there are some decent editorials and op-eds written now and then but that's easy. Where's the undercover journalist exposing illegal crunching at a major studio like Blizzard? Shit like that, I want the goodies.

"For meee I think."

Honestly listening to her complain about God of War having poor female characters was ass backwards. When another member of staff talks about how the mother is the most important character, she resorts to "I know what you mean, but I don't care".

She was hired as a video editor, she should stay in her lane.

Don't even get me started on Ben either. When he talks about his "partner" on the podcast I thought he was gay, but in reality he's dating some non binary hambeast

The only real option is to find youtubers that focuses on a specific section of a particular genre or forums/threads discussing that game/genre. If you want to know about what's new/broken/rehashed in the latest Football Manager there's no use going to one of the gaming sites, same with almost everything else. Are you really going to trust the opinion and score of Eurogamer reviewing a Crusader Kings game?

Just remember Sim City and the great scores it got before the consumers pointed out it was broken as fuck, then they changed the score to reflect the opinions of the consumers. That was years ago and it showed that it's better to listen to the consumers and just avoid the games media altogether when it comes to anything that have more depth than a Call of Duty campaign. That's what they are now, they work as town criers for any new AAA game coming out, trying to re-arrange presskits into articles and features, beyond that they don't serve much of a function.

There was also the time that Abby cancelled and apologized for doing 4th of July content last year or the year before just because DRUMPF. It was even worse because it was something that Dan was heavily invested in doing it seemed like as he loves America and wants to share that love, only to be undermined by some guilt ridden idiot. Not saying it was the best or most interesting but when you have content based on something that someone actually cares about at least their passion can shine through and be entertaining, which is what I imagine most people would want to see.

I unsubbed to my PC Gamer magazine and stoped reading all mainstream sites when they gave Spore good scores despite the extreme let down and dumbing down that happened.
I know they basically work as their town criers and I pity them. They can't get the early access or the invites to events without that. But you'd think someone, somewhere stil made money by providing quality content.

Ben doesn't seem so bad to me. He seems like he's a bit of a bitch who would be terrible at dealing with peer pressure though, like when he defended Sekiro's difficulty and all his journalist friends jumped down his throat

Polygon is thirsty for some bath water.

It's kinda sad that her best articles are the two that she never wrote.

Sorry for the double post, but there's new content.

VG247 has decided listening to player feedback is bad because people criticized Mass Effect 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Anthem, before saying that gamers are afraid of change. I wonder if those 3 games have anything in common?
While lazy click bait, I think game developers should take this to heart next time game journalists start screaming about something "problematic". They are just afraid of change.

The top comment.

It's not a trash engine, god dammit, it's Bioware that is a trash company these days, they're the only ones having trouble with it. It made Battlefields. It made the FIFA games. It made the NFL games. It made some Need for Speed games. WOKE PROGRAMMERS BROKE THE ENGINE TRYING TO MAKE PAN-GAY ROMANCES REEEEEE FROSTBITE IS BAD!

Stop slandering the work of the natives of the north, it's racist!
