I can only guess you are missing the point on purpose or just fucking dumb. Things were cringe back then, but now it's cringe and "woke" so now only those that are the dumbest or most "progressive" consoomers give a shit. Also, at least the games they showed off back then were GAMES, not movies dressed up to look like games.

Cringe is cringe, it doesn't matter if it's woke or not. It's like asking to eat shit but make sure it's smooth and doesn't have any peanuts in it because that would upset your tummy.

Also FMV games existed since the late 80's, it's why people embraced CD technology for movie quality visuals and why Mortal Kombat did what it did with motion capture. You had rail shooters like Area 51 in the 90's, games have always tried to do the movie thing with specific genres.

Fuck Bruce Willis had his own game for the Playstation and it sucked.

Again, even FMV games tried to be games. They didn't have you walk around for 5+ hours for their amazing "story" to play out where a strong wahman shows how amazing she is or whatever. These are just copes about how shit things are.

They literally did the same shit in the 90's but it was for environmentalism or whatever trend was currently going. The 90's have a fuckload of eco-groups that had their hands in a bunch of things and that's all but died out now, even though jack and shit has been done about the Rain Forest which should have been fully exterminated and wiped out 3 years ago.
Combatting Drug use was also another social initiative that game companies did in the 90's.


It's always been around in some form. It's not just limited to games either and it's just kind of in all tech sectors in general, it's why Solar powered cars came and went within a year.

I don't remember a lot of environmentalism in games in the 90s, unless you're just talking about pop culture in general.

I do remember some games in the 2000s had anti-Bush commentary, but that was just part of the cultural zeitgeist, none of it compares to today, in which we have well funded and very purposeful propaganda campaigns targeting gamers, there's nothing even remotely comparable to that in gaming in the 90s and 2000s and you're completely insane if you think otherwise.
