I was going to type this in the something awful LP thread but now apparently that ugly rake Voidburger has a show on Giant Bomb too. So here goes;

Giant Bomb really has hit rock fucking bottom. Once Vinny and Brad left I knew it was only a matter of time before they got somehow even more pozzed. They announced some Reddit tier "internet lore" podcast that Whang does better. The arab dude who's hosting the new podcast said "I watch a lot of Hassan Piker on twitch" in his description of the new show, so that's all you really need to know.

They announced another show with that same guy and that insufferable potato nigger Danny O'Dwyer. Anyway, it's a soulsborne LP which is behind their paywall too.

They then announced another show where some youtube parody band group done reviews of shit albums, literally theneedledrop.

I wouldn't even mind so much if they didn't have Gerstmann on the reigns for each of these, but they've got Jeff Bakalar instead,
who despite being decent in the east coast stuff as a guest, cannot carry shit on his own. I'm done with Giant Bomb, when Ben and Abby left I thought we were gonna see a real change, but no they're literally turning into every other modern era video game website. Ryan must be spinning in his grave seeing all these faggots ruin what used to be the best gaming website of the 10's. I feel old saying that.

I was digging through the Giant Bomb subreddit and saw multiple people getting attacked for asking "Isn't this is a site about video games? And who are these people?" re: the multiple new shows that aren't about video games/don't feature any staff members of Giant Bomb. Yes, the Bombcast going on a tangent about music, film, tv, and whatever is sometimes really entertaining, but to extend those discussions out to an entire show without featuring any of the personalities that made those segments interesting in the first place is just weird.

Remember Wizard magazine, that used to exclusively cover comic books and comic related shit like action figures and tv/cartoon adaptions?

After the 200th issue, it suddenly shifted gears and did a scattershot coverage of pop culture in general, rather than focus directly on comics. It started bleeding subscribers before they tried to walk the magazine back to its roots two years later.

It died shortly less than a year later.

History is repeating itself.

Fuck, I used to love Wizard and I wasn't even a huge comics fan. This was also back in the early days of anime in the US and they would cover that too, when no one else really knew what it was. I know I've got a few old issues somewhere, I should find them.

Also, will Brad Shoemaker transition by the end of this year, or next year?

Holy shit, Brad, what happened to you?

Even worse, the aforementioned arab guy who's cohosting with Danny, Tamoor Hussain, is one of those people who cries about Souls games not having an explicit easy mode, completely oblivious to how challenge makes those games special and how there's already an abundance of implicit methods to make them easier:

Sounds like Giant Bomb has truly become The Nerd Crew.

The mods in that subreddit are massive sycophants, outright attacking the old fans lamenting the state of the website. Comes with the territory I guess. Doin it for free.

It feels like since red ventures acquired the company, Gerstmann's hands have been tied, He's stuck there now having to act like some pseudo-woman giving some ice cold well trodden takes about Mario is somehow something GB fans have been clamouring for.

I fucking loathe Danny O'Dwyer too. He's one of those plebs that was a massive troll in the past then one day just became super woke to the point where you feel like he's got something to hide. He also revealed in a podcast that his past fiance left him at the altar but he's still good friends with her, which is hilarious.

Ah, Danny O'Dumbass. I'm sure he diddled a kid or molested a woman or something. They always do.

I really think this is just what San Francisco does to a person. Clown city.

Apparently Dan Ryckert is going to do a show for Nü-GB too. I always quite liked Dan, but I assume it will be some insufferable game show starring the cast of fraggle rock i.e. Giant Bomb: The Next Generation

They don't seem to understand that making and balancing an easy mode would cost money, time and resources that would require either a higher budget or lowering the budget of the real game, making it a lesser game in the process. Not that those people would buy it anyway, they will continue to watch let's plays and read lore-wikis.

But that's the progressive way of things, force a company to appeal to an audience it doesn't have at the expense of the people that actually buys their product. Crash and burn, move on to the next thing, force the message that they must change everything in the name of inclusivity to make things more hospitable to people that actively hates the existing population... wait a minute, this seems familiar somehow.

If you enjoy the mechanical part of the games that From Software made and don't want it to be watered down to Skyrim tier difficultly, ie just spam left click till the creature dies, then you're not a real fan.

I really don't get these people. I don't get what makes a person so pathetic, self-important and spiteful that they get atop a stupidly high horse and bitch about people who actually enjoy games not wanting them dumbed down. I looked through his Twitter and he is the most milquetoast fucking lame I've seen in a while. Standard pearl clutching about vaccines, because fuck video games, lots of shitty jokes with barely any interactions, he seems to be obsessed with power rangers, and shockingly

Twitch wants nothing to do with his boring ass. He posted some clips with HOT BANTS™️ Just listen to these sick burns

If games are a serious medium then maybe a games difficulty is part of an intentional design choice or attempt to create a mood or atmosphere or experience. The way I look at is there are plenty of movies I would not recommend my mom but no one criticizes these movies for being inaccessible or not appealing for a wide audience.

I think tamoors arguments are pretty silly. Suggesting people aren’t going to make bloodborne art because they can’t beat a boss? As if YouTube and lets plays are not a thing.

I really think journalists have completely confused the whole accessibility argument. Game devs putting in features for color blindness or alternate control schemes is awesome, but it doesn’t mean that devs who choose not to include a easy mode are the same as someone not putting a wheelchair ramp at the grocery store

You ever think that a Troll becoming woke IRL makes the most sense, because then you can troll people IRL as well as online?

Exactly. I prefer games with no difficulty settings for that reason. Easy or hard, you're playing the game the way it was intended and not everyone will enjoy every game. There's plenty of easy games on the market if you want to experience a story. Hell, Dark Soul's story is so bare bones that whether or not you "get" the lore it doesn't matter. Beating it matters. It's literally a return to the good old days, which is why these wokies must destroy it. They can't have people remembering what it was like when gaming was just fun.

Making art of an already established property is retarded anyway. Most of it is porn.

No kidding. The games are accessible in that anyone can buy them. Beating them is up to the player. No one's trying to keep people who don't like hard games out of the content, but the point of the game being hard is that it feels great once you finally unlock that hard boss and make him your bitch. Kind of like reading Shakespeare. Plenty of devs make the equivalent of Harry Potter books, not everyone is going to like every game. I suck at top-down isometric RPGs, for example and hate them with a passion. I do not play those games, and if I want to experience them I live vicariously through people who CAN beat them.

These journalists fail to see that by tying "difficultly" to "accessibility", they're implying that disabled people are unable to play hard games. In fact, there was one guy who beat one of the Dark Souls games using only his feet because he had no arms.

I honestly don't have the time or patience for the Souls games like my friends do, but rather than bitch about the difficulty, I just play one of the thousands of other games available to play on console, PC, and emulators.

I think journalists bitch about dark souls easy mode, so they can get outrage clicks and stay employed for another month.

Remember these people are under 6 feet tall, they can only go for the low hanging fruit.

I like to think their employers tell them to play the Dark Souls games on hard mode, but play the image of thinking that it’s far too easy for them to play.

Yet when commenters call them out on this after said game journalists wrote their articles on it, this is how they then look:

It’s funny to think about it, but it’s also alarming that said game journalists are paid more than $50k+ dollars to type it as if they’re being serious about it.

Who's paid that for a review? Maybe Jason Schreier. He's as worthless as the rest but he's as top notch as they get. The others are writing for packets of bird seed. And "exposure." And the tiny, niggardly level of clout they have being any kind of "journalist."
