The Violinist of Hameln - a fun, side-scrolling platforming game by Enix released exclusively in Japan. You play this asshole violinist who tries to stop an impending catastrophe with the help of your female companion named Flute. And how does she help? You throw her around like a rag doll and have her wear degrading animal costumes that gives her special abilities a la Kirby. The game is fun and funny as hell (the animation of Flute's tormented expressions is especially hilarious), but if this thing came out in America, you could bet it would set the Internet on fire.
Road Rash 64 - This is one of my favorite N64 games of all time and was my introduction to the Road Rash series. The game was not well-received, with most of the criticism reserved for the blurry graphics and lack of interesting backgrounds. That's too bad, because gameplay-wise, this game is addicting. You just beat the crap out of bikers with weapons and it's so satisfying. Even better is the sound design (especially your opponents' scream and grunts) and the music, which are freaking awesome, and add more to the enjoyment.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter - Another childhood N64 favorite and another game that is now looked down upon today, especially by gamers raised on Call of Duty, Bioshock and Borderlands. It doesn't help that the controls take time to get use to and the level design is confusing. But I love this game you get to kill dinosaurs, poachers, insects, purins, and eventually aliens, cyborgs, robots and cyber-genetic dinosaurs, and blowing them to pieces is just wonderful. It's even better with the all-weapons cheat codes and you use the grenade launcher and alien weapon to send raptors, poachers and demons flying. As an added note, Darren Mitchell's music is fantastic (the N64 version at least; the PC version stinks)
