Games you suck at but still enjoy

Playing nothing but MMOs for close to 15 years really made me forget how to play any other kind of game and I also had to relearn how to play with a controller. As such, I only play on easy/story mode nowadays, something my younger self would be deeply ashamed of. I still managed to be exceptionally bad at Jedi Fallen Order that I played recently, but hey, I cleared it and got to experience the - imo very mid - story, so I can't bring myself to care. I simply don't have the patience or time to be more of a "real gamer" anymore.

The only people who brag about beating hard video games or being a "hardcore gamer" are people who have absolutely nothing else going for them in life. There's nothing wrong with enjoying games, but they ultimately are toys made for ephemeral amusement.

The RTS genere as a whole. Something about it is just so compelling, but my brain doesn't move fast enough to get the most out of it.

i am terrible at rts games but i grew up playing red alert 2 and it will never not be fun
also dayz, the good players are playing a hardcore arma 3 deathmatch all around me while im struggling to even stay alive against the fucking zeds and not get one tapped by some fucking sniper but its still so much fun

My brother played C&C. I liked the music but I just suck at the genre.

Pac-man, Robotron and pretty much any classic arcade game. Like I know they're not intended to be "beaten" but I always found I could never get past four or five rounds even as an adult.

violent fits of full-body motion sickness
I would get motion sickness from those as well. I noticed it was always only from the console versions. I found increasing the FOV helps with that.

I'm opening myself up to ridicule here, but I suck at Dark Souls III, the only Fromsoft game I've ever played. Kai Cenat has nothing on me, except a shitload of melanin.
There's a term in the Korean game community for people like that. (고인물) "Stagnant water", is usually to refer to competitive players who play the same game and have built a high skill ceiling from years of playing.

Man, I felt that in my soul. I really love "Tactic"/SRPG games like Final Fantasy Tactics or XCOM, but Chess is a personal nightmare of mine.

For me, I keep getting Ls because I keep messing the endgame. I always take my opponent's pieces and put my bishops and knights in advantageous positions... and somehow, I make a stupid move and all of my army gets stolen.
That's the crazy thing! I tend to be really good at strategy games! I love setting everything up, trying to think two steps ahead, finding new ways to attack or defend, all shit that you need to be good at chess! Does not translate at all.

To add to the list, Dance Dance Revolution. I'm dating myself here, but it was always awesome to be an an arcade and see someone who was AMAZING at DDR. It was entertaining just to watch, then you actually get a turn and are swiftly reminded how difficult it can be. Still fun, but boy did I suck at it.

personally i have hard time playing from psp due to controls so whenever i boot up stuff like mgspw its like driving a tractor for me except the control group levers are the buttons

i genuinely enjoy rhythm games (e.g parappa or project diva series) but its like my brain has that one fucking malfunction where it is perfectly aware of what is happening yet refuses to register to do anything about it

Darkest Dungeon — I've made awesome progress in the game but I'm routinely raped by the RNG like a new player would be. The pre-boss-room Collector spawn easily wipes my parties.
Prioritize stunning and hurting him on the first turn. After that try to kill the dismas head guys, they're the only dangerous part of the encounter. I like grinding for Collector encounters for money

Just like speedrunners too. Who the fuck really cares how fast you complete a game by?
Completionists are up there too. I sometimes personally wish I had a life where I indulge and enjoy the things around me than letting them sit around collecting dust. But at the same token, I can't imagine a life where I'm having tunnel vision where I'm focused on doing just one thing in my life. I'd go mental.
I'll also chalk up streamers/youtubers that have turned video games into their career and otherwise have butt into being just another talking head of an influencer where their say is law on what's what. And a lot of them have turned into lolcows of their own because of how they obviously are inclined to abuse their position for personal gain.

Why and when the fuck did we turn something that's meant to be enjoyed into this shit?

Fighting games. No child, I will not sit there and memorize all of your autistic frame data faggotry. I refuse to learn about hitboxes, input windows, or combos that look like advanced trigonometry equations. I refuse to use a shitty chinesium stick glued to a board that costs as much as a Ferrari and will continue to use a controller. Lastly, I refuse to use overly complicated notation bullshit instead of just looking at a move list with controller buttons. I play games for fun and practice basic hygiene, which automatically exempts me from all of that bullshit anyway.

I have close to 4000 hours in Dota 2 and have never cracked 4k mmr. Don't play a lot of ranked anymore.
Oh, you've got me thinking of Dead By Daylight. Can't they just add a non-ranked mode already for casuals like myself? I've never had a not-embarrassing rank level, hahah.

Same thing for Hearthstone. Love it. Terrible at it.

Hell Let Loose. Particularly because Ive been playing with Keyboard AND controller since release. I started with a controller you filthy swine and it its not a top down RPG or strategy game I will die with a controller in my hand
