It would be incredibly hilarious and an added layer of narcissism on his part if that were the case, but I doubt it.
He did make a vague reference to it on his Twitter back when he found out about it. Unfortunately for him, I don't think anybody else even knew or cared about what he was referring to.

Little late to the party about the outfits but whatever.
Calli's was good, still like her original better. Rigging is great and nifty extras.
Kara's surprised me as she now looks really good and is probably my favorite even though I never really watch her streams. Also really neat extras.
I'm not a fan of Ina visually, so my stance on her outfit is a moot point. Not a fan of characters with moles as I personally find them disgusting, as well as concave chests. Aside from her comfy personality, I can't see how someone thinks she's cute visually. Lambast me if you will, but her roommate looks better than her model hands down.
Gura's is definitely lackluster, but aside from the outfit, am I the minority in thinking its really weird how her rigging for her head moving side to side really just juts her chin out? Looks so odd and not well made. It's bugged me ever since she debuted and was wondering if anyone else notices it, Or I'm just succumbing to severe tismoidism.

Percentage of viewers watching the recent New Outfit streams relative to their subscriber count:
Tokoyami Towa - 12.1%
Tsunomaki Watame - 9.8%
Amane Kanata - 11%
Kiryu Coco - 8.1%
Mori Calliope - 10.3%
Takanashi Kiara - 7.6%
Ninomae Ina'nis - 8.1%
Gawr Gura - 7.3%
I docked 5,000 subscribers off of their current count to account for the subscriber surge post-reveal, but even though it is even, it's not exact. For example, I counted Towa as having 616K subs at the time when she actually had 611K, so her percentage would be higher, but others who didn't gain as many subs would be closer to their actual average.

Ironically this actually creates more haters / antis that Ayame didn't realize. I realized she has actually done similiar to this quite often.
Her popular nickname in /vt/ is apparently "Bitch of Hololive". I thought it was just endearing banter like "simp" until I looked deeper. The nickname is too harsh though imho and I think her streaming schedule is allright, her right and such. Its just I wish she opens herself more.

She is unpopular because a lot of people have the feeling that she just streams when she needs money.
This is 'backed' up by how much she streams herself playing with friends, usually LoL and FFXIV.
That's the reason why nips sperg out on Ojou tho, I'm indifferent to how much she streams, I just enjoy when she does.

Personally, I don't think he did a bad job. The mistakes look like things that simply didn't get fixed because he was rushed. Holo really should have had someone proofread his work, and then send it back to him before releasing it.

If one of the other girls has something, Gura absolutely must also have it and also be treated disproportionally better in collabs because she's the Golden Goose. Her decision to kind of embrace it instead of be suffocated by it is a great choice for her own mental well-being, but has only really served to embolden the fans.
Now, this rigger is also pretty infamous for giving Anya breasts which she's clearly very uncomfortable with and often hides them; so he is pretty irresponsible at times and worthy of criticism. That said, this is not the first time someone has worked with Gura on something and been blasted for daring not give her only the best. Roboco was sent death threats for organising a Collab where Gura got salty.
It'll reach a point where people just no longer want to do anything with or for her because the backlash isn't worth it.

I dunno, it's all about the attitude of the streamer, really.
Calli has 1.3m subs but made it pretty damn clear early on that she's not taking anyone's shit, and her self-deprecating humour makes it very difficult or even embarrassing to try and insult her. For all her raging, Amelia has a similar crowd of people who think she's much funnier left to her own devices.
Ina literally just draws and goes 'wah' - there's not much toxicity you can form around that. People go to her for similar reasons they go to Watame, and Watame receives basically no hate for anything despite being on record for saying she's a lolicon who used to work in a school.
