I'll be honest that Pratt is far from the first name that pops in anyone's head when thinking of Mario. Honestly, that's the one casting choice I didn't really "feel". Maybe there's going to be a sort of twist like Mario won't actually talk until the end of the movie, or that's just Mario's inner voice and he's just be doing the stock "Wahoo-Mama Mia-Itsa Me!" otherwise. I honestly was in the same boat as most people at one point, hoping they'd just give up on wanting a "Hollywood" Mario film. But Miyamoto not-so-subtly saying "Yeah i've been busting these gaijin's balls so whatever they push is to my standards" during the direct caught my interest. If they swapped Chris Pratt for Danny DeVito the Mario movie would just be a long It's Always Sunny fever dream episode and I would be all for it![]()
I hope Anya Taylor Joy doesn't mind huffing helium to do Peach's voice though.

I hope there's at least one tiny scene where Toad and Mario do the "anger translator" bit.Now I'm picturing Key doing a high and scratchy Toad voice the whole time, except for one line in the climax where he gets pissed off and drops the deepest, blackest voice and vernacular he can muster.
I echo Pomu and Elira's reaction, the cast isn't completely bad, it's just so bizarre and unexpected that you have to laugh. I'm hoping for similar quality to that Sonic movie from a couple years ago - not really good, but watchable at least.
