On the one hand "muh idoru" gachikoi are annoying.

On the other hand the amount of self flagellating the EN community does over it is 10x as loud and also annoying in it's own way.

It's like when there's 1 spammer in chat, and then 50 people start spamming to tell them to stop spamming. The 50 are correct but boy does it get tiresome hearing about it.

Probably just MATI but just the volume of what ends up being just empty grandstanding "I for one don't care if the girl has a boyfriend" that goes on when folks are speaking to an audience that already agrees with them starts to just feel pointless and a bit virtue signally after a while. There's no gachikoi idolfags here, who are you trying to make a point to.. Though I suppose in part it's because I end up seeing it in a lot of places not just here so it makes it feel like it's going on a lot more, Reddit in particular is bad about overdoing the self policing thing to the point of being obnoxious.

Ame Roboco En tour started, in case people are interested.
its so weird to see the Japanese gift bringing being a thing in meinkampft. Like, it makes sense irl but in a game? I sometimes squirm in my seat watching some of the EN members get a chest worth of gifts but seem to not prepare something in return. Guess that's the East vs West mentality

it is def fun watching Ame just brute force this interaction with just being the tour guide and Roboco just rolling with it

Hypothetical question for you guys:
If your favorite hololive member's voice changes one day, and you find out she's replaced with a different streamer playing the same character, how upset would you be on a scale of "meh" to "autistic meltdown"?
I'd drop them like a bad habit, and if it became common practice I'd drop whatever companies were doing it.

This guy's no Snacks, but this is still kinda fun to watch, especially with the angel ending up as pretty much the first person to successfully bully Selen into retreating from the constant bully offensive.
As far as the partner hate goes, that's pretty much the idol culture seeping in, like how when a VA for some idol game married Kazuchika Okada, one of NJPW's top wrestlers, they got barraged with death threats and shit. The further you steer away from it, the less potent this seems, like how Gwelu Os Gar is able to just casually have his wife and child on stream.

This very likely wouldn't happen in Hololive, as they probably know people aren't that stupid. That said, as far as the Vtuber industry as a whole goes, this did happen in the past, one of the most notable examples being Game Club Project in 2019. I'm pretty sure Kizuna Ai had a similar situation in the past (or at least there were rumors of it), but I don't really follow her enough to be sure.

I wouldn't have a melt down or anything, but I would defiantly stop watching them. Its like if cover hired someone else to be Coco, would it really be her, would the humor be the same, would the the content be the same. It's just not the same thing. It would be better just to debut a new person, rather than try and replace the streamer behind the character.

Incoming chicken monthly numberfagging and meltdown and doomposting.

I think she can continue to do that cosplay cooking show of her that aligned pretty well with her theme as restaurant owner. Maybe try to cook the “German Phoenix” for the meme.
I do hope Kiara sticks to the whole idol aspect. She's extremely good at it and she has a ton of support from artists that can help her churn out music video after music video.

I'm going to say it since no one else has the balls. KIARA SHOULD LEARN SPANISH!
Im somewhat impressed that they havent gone for a spanish speaking talent. There seems to be a huge void when it comes to spanish speakers in corpo vtubers and its weird because every single spanish stream gets a ton of attention from the spanish speaking crowd (which is pretty huge).

I don't get it

This seem rather interesting

I think Moona is fairly better than she lets on.

Watson is going to play a tour guide of the EN server for Roboco in a few hours. Wonder how that'll work out with the language barrier...
Ame has collabed with Robocco before and while Robocco's english is really basic she can understand english pretty well. Ame can't speak or understand much japanese but Robocco can comunicate in basic english.

If the drama from a while back regarding Kizuna Ai where it was believed her seiyu was changed is any indication, people will leave in droves. But to answer from my own perspective, if instead of Graduating her, they replaced Amelia Watson's voice actress, I would stop watching immediately and become very skeptical of Cover for such deception. The character itself is brought to life by the personality of the actress behind it; it would be very soul-less if the actual person behind the avatar was swapped out.

Imagine if Gura was swapped out and the beginning of this transition was like "A! Apex Predator of Hololive English, Gawr Gura here. I'm feeling very hydrodynamic today! Shahahahahaaarrrrk!" Such a shoe-horned corporate recasting would make my brain drain out through my nose.

Gift-giving in professional and inter-personal settings is very much an asian thing. Could vary in some places but I'd say it's probably more pronounced and very cultural in JP.

This has already somewhat happened with Kizuna Ai when the management company handling her tried to introduce "clones" of her with different voices, personalities and language proficiency in an obvious bid to take control of the character away from the voice actress. The fan backlash was huge.

So long story short, most chuuba fans/viewers aren't just in it for the design/character. The streamer's voice and personality fills out the character. take that away, and you might as well have plunked down a brand new character in front of the viewers.

I guess maybe they could pull it off without to much backlash if was super early and they didn't have much of a following or fanbase. Like if within a few weeks of debut, Kiara had a total meltdown that got her fired maybe they could just hire someone else to play her.
I gave this a think because at first glance it seems reasonable. Then I remember how people lost their fucking minds over Aloe. Redditards were making 10 paragraph posts with hundreds of upvotes about how - crying and shaking - depressed they were to lose Aloe. All that emotional investment in someone in such a short amount of time - while being thoroughly creepy - does tell me there isn't any amount of time people would tolerate this kind of hypothetical swap.

Looking at the whole Aloe incident and the fanbase's reaction I don't think even this could be pulled off (at least in the hololive fandom). The people would have gone mad if that would have happened.
I think I would drop the character too. I watch them for their character, not for their design.

Edit: lol, ninjaed
