You are right that it really doesn't make sense for it to be Connor. The accusations of Trash Taste leeching off of vtubers gloss over how Connor has more subs than most Hololive members and every Niji member, and gets higher view counts than any of them. If it is Connor, I suppose it means that he actually genuinely does want to be a vtuber, but doesn't want to just leverage his own name recognition for some reason.

While i do agree that connor is a very successful YouTuber I don't think its fair to compare the vod views of a traditional youtuber like connor(edited vod) to hololive /niji vod. Connor video is condensed and he basically upload once a week if im not mistaken compared to almost everyday of holo/niji. If you really want a fair comparison you need to use the unedited vods of connor.

They have stereotypical fujo-bait design, not surprising, reminds me of 2010s. But holyshit, those voices are worse than I expected. Seems like they're still trying to use anime voice instead of an natural voice. I really hope they stopped doing it since it reminds me with people like Nux, which is bad honestly

I have a feeling that Nux's voice is not too different from his real life voice. I have a feeling he just sounds as autistic and as annoying just toned down a bit (like whenever he puts a serious low voice).

I don’t think Vox sounds like Connor at all tbh (although I guess he is a voice actor so maybe he could disguise it a bit)

And like others have said it doesn’t make sense from a financial standpoint. I don’t see what he would gain from joining niji. It’s a bit of a risk, we don’t really know how the EN community will take to male vtubers. I’ve been wrong before though.

How come it wouldn't make sense from a financial standpoint? He can stream 1-2 hours a day 4-5 days a week without really interrupting any of his regular streams/videos/podcast. His voice is part of what made him popular a few years back when he started with the whole Black Butler dub shit he was doing. Its a good way to have another source of income. As for the voice, to me, it did sound similar but I think he might also be running it through a filter. Easiest way to tell will be once he laughs.

Probably late but watch any of Enna from NijiEN's singing, her vocal range is insane and I'm throwing my wages at her as soon as her membership goes live.

Oh shit I forgot about Niji. Enna has an incredible voice but she doesn't seem to know most of the songs during karaoke or just starts laughing mid song. Its a shame because she does have a great voice and seems to have either some training or is just naturally talented. Reimu is also amazing at singing.

I'd be happy seeing any one of those who responded -- or better yet, all of them! More JP English!

Iroha has been doing an English Duolingo stream for a few days now. Lui also seems to understand it and her pronunciation is pretty good (better than Haachama).

You guys do realise that Connor is an official employee of kadokawa/bookwalker right? All three of the trash taste crew are and they're in Japan with work permits from that.
Therefore I don't think he'd be able to join Nijisanji, another Japanese company while still having his job with kadokawa. Any semi competent VA can make that voice for a few lines. He's not the only one.

If he did want to have a vtuber model it would make sense to be independent considering how much he collabs with ironmouse and not so much with other vtubers.

At this point I don't read /vt/, since the nonstop Goslingfags and toxic goalposting are hernia-inducing, but if it gets the SEAfag sperging in snake tongue again I'd drink to that.

Honestly, I don't really hear it, it just sounds like a generic deep guy voice to me. Seems kinda weird to be reaching this hard from single rehearsed lines that had to go through boomer management. Trailers and even sorta debuts don't really mean anything; usually it takes a week or two for a Vtuber to settle in and get comfortable before you get a good grip on whether they're worth watching or not.

Not an official employee of Bookwalker, but a talent/influencer of a company owned by Bookwalker. It actually made sense why Connor joined Nijisanji if you look at that angle.

Geexplus, the company, might want to learn more about the VTubers business from the inside. It could help for their business after all, which is a PR business. That might be the reason why Gigguk's wife joined VShoujo, but that amounted to nothing. So they decided to use Connor instead, who already have some connections with EN Vtubers.

Anycolor might be okay with that because hey, Connor and the other influencers of that company has clouts. They need whatever advantage they have to expand more on the EN side of the industry, especially since they're lacking behind compared to the other competitors like Hololive and VShoujo. EN Male talent is also a big gamble, hence its logical they would need whatever help they could get

And you may very well be right. I'm just saying that as someone who has heard his voice on a regular basis for months since he's been a guest on ironmouse's streams when I was watching her regularly, the voice is similar enough on it's own. But the thing that really has me convinced on this rrat if it can be called that, is the "speak of the devil" line he gave in the intro trailer, especially with the inflection. Who knows maybe I am just autistic and wrong but I feel that is a direct nod to mouse's show, Speak of the Devil, for which iirc Connor was one of the guests (though I think Sykkuno was the first).

Also when considering Japanese corpo culture I imagine you also should take into account that Connor is notably not Japanese so they may be slightly less spastic about that sort of thing when dealing with foreigners as long as there isn't direct competition.
